Me, as a sculptor that only does handmade sculpture appreciate that this model is handsculpted. It's not as detailed and precisely done as digital models nowadays are made, but has a lot of charm. I love your reviews
I definitely agree with you! While you can be incredibly precise with digital models, I sometimes feel that we've somehow lost the _art_ that goes behind real sculpting, not to mention the love. By the way, Bumpy is super CUTE she really melts the heart! Did you do that as a one-off?
Thanks! @Michael Kawano I believe Dan's Dinosaurs still has it, and you can also try Lanatimeshop. It's quite a treasure; I never expected to have it when I first saw the pics a few years ago!
Thank you Richard! Sauropods are my favourite dinosaur group, and I like the unusual ones among them. Tail clubs are certainly a very interesting addition. They had to have had various differentiating behaviours and defence mechanisms other than just large size.
Just ordered these absolute stunners. Two stores on AliExpress had a couple (/the last few pieces?) on sale for a decent price and after short consideration I decided thats what I‘m going to gift myself for Christmas. Had to come back to this video to watch your review of this gorgeous display piece for probably the fifth time and savor the feeling of my anticipation for my very early bought Christmas gift. =D Review of Jacques the Deinocheirus coming up any time soon? :)
Lol well as I type this you know the answer to your last question! I hope that it arrives safe and with good colours. It's always a bit of a risk that with time, production colours take shortcuts, but fortunately for limited run issues like this, it shouldn't be a problem. More with companies with mass produced dinosaurs. An Early Merry Christmas to you! 🎄🤶
@@DinosDragons Haha, yes - already seen that one, great work as always. ;) Yeah I do really hope it arrives safely and nothing breaks, there seems to bit a bit much room in its original packing for the tail of the adult to move around (kind of worries me). But I'm very excited. Thanks! :)
Nanmu really has some pretty amazing artists! It's not surprising why their dinosaurs well so well, even though I generally don't buy JP-style dinosaurs 😁
Thank you! It was really unexpected especially from Nanmu. If they ever wanted to do more non-Jurassic Parkesque dinosaurs in the future, I think my wallet is doomed!
What do you think about Nanmu Apatosaurus? Is it scientifically correct enough in your opinion or too much in Jurassic Park movie style? I like it size, but I like my models to be based on science. Regards
If I recall correctly it's generally all right for Nanmu, but there were three things I didn't like about it. First, the snout tapers off too narrowly (do an image search for Apatosaurus skull to see what I mean). Second, the skin is too wrinkly for my liking, and seems to be more mammalian rather than reptilian. And third, the foot, while having the correct number of claws (just the thumb) lacks the distinctive horseshow shape of most sauropods. A fourth reason I didn't get it not related to accuracy was the large size. I believe it's 1:30 or even bigger. Otherwise I think it's generally a nice model to have unless you are super picky about accuracy.
@@DinosDragons Thanks for your insight. Nanmu claims, that it's 1:35 scale. However, many companies say certain scale and the reality often seems different. So, it cannot always be trusted.
@@Tim12021982 I am sure it's definitely bigger than 1:35. I just checked EverythingDinosaur website. It's listed at 77.5cm (30.5in). Apatosaurus was about 23m, so we're looking at about 1:30.
Amazing set and great review, really thinking about getting it now. I was wondering if you have the nanmu yangchuanosaurus? I’m thinking about getting that one too but some of the in hand photos look a little bad
No I don't. I remember seeing pictures of it once before and didn't like how it looked, especially the forelimbs. I wasn't aware you could still get that though. I would trust in hand pictures more than prototype ones, so I'd decide based on that.
@@DinosDragons yea theres surprisingly a lot of places you can still buy the yangchuanosaurus. It’s on Dan’s Dinosaurs, Lanatimeshop, taobao, and even amazon. Some of these shops also have a Nanmu Lion and Hyena which I had never seen before haha
When this Sauropod has a tailspike... it is obviously a weapon. And when this long and thin tail was a weapon...obviously their tails where stable as weapons.

So cool!! I didn’t even know this one existed. I’ll have to look for it. Thanks for the excellent review!
Thanks! @Michael Kawano

They also apparently have a Yangchuanosaurus
Well this sure is one awesome review on the amazing Namu Shunosaurus family.
Also I wish you a great day.
Thank you! I love this set! Beautiful.
A beautiful sauropod and review!

I have this one in my showcase, gorgeous!
Excellent addition! This diorama is really nicer in person and one that deserves to be showcased!

So detailed.

Oh mah gawd it's bootiful
It is indeed! Nanmu will hopefully do more real dinosaurs in the future.
Geez I love this one!!!

I’m pretty sure it’s an alligator, they have round snouts and are sometimes stripes on the tail on younger individuals
Thanks for that! I need to be less careless with my words! I'll put the correction down in the description box.

And when this long and thin tail was a weapon...obviously their tails where stable as weapons.
I definitely wouldn't want to be standing near the end of a swishing sauropod tail... club or spike or not 😁
Nanmu Ceratosaur is not JP style too;)
That's true! I believe they have also done a Yangchuanosaurus before.
È scala 1:35???
What scale is it?
The declared scale is 1:35. I estimate between 1:32 and 1:33
It's about 13 ft
It's pretty small for a sauropod compared to huge ones like Titanosaurs!
Shunosaurus means shu lizard during late jurassic period it's a plant eater
Yes it's a pretty cool sauropod with a tail club!
dans dinosaurs does not have this figure
Ah was it sold out?
A beautiful sauropod and review!
Thank you Richard! It was a real treasure, proving Nanmu can certainly do non-JP dinosaurs if they wanted to!
