Thank you, the little hair I do have left can now remain in place. After, plugs, leads, diss cap, rotor, ignition coil. I found you video on the security light and it worked a charm
Thanks for your help man I fought with this truck for weeks and your video really help The only problem is I change so many things trying to fix it now it run really rough now and I don't know what I did
I understand the relearn procedure my question is would a worn ignition key cause the security light to keep coming on? Also I'm having an intermittent starting problem that acts like the vehicles flooded but I think it's the security system
I have a 2000 sierra and this dont works for me, do yo have idea what it can do? De security light is on even when i get out the Keys... sorry about my bad inglish i am from México maybe you understand i try de to say
best to hook it up to a scanner to see if it sends you in a direction to check or check around the steering column to see if there is any broken wires. You will need to do some different testing
the engine doesn't need to engage each time, just the initial time. just need to turn the key to the on position 3x total.. Are Canadian models different? I am in NY
I believe you are correct on not needing to start it but just clicking to run position. I don't believe you need to. But from what I was getting from another source you needed to. Sooooo considering the time I had I wasn't going to steer away from the instructions k was giving. Didn't want to waste more time then needing. If you are saying it can be done with out cranking the engine good to known. Thanks for the intell.
I don't think but it is possible. You would need to check wiring schematic to see if there is something tied in with the clock spring and security. If I catch some time later I might be able to check. But that's what I would do. Get wiring schematic and see what ties in.
So I keep having to relearn the key to my truck for whatever reason it does it every day, someone told me it was because my starter is going out but do you have any suggestions how I can fix it
Mine only flashes when you shut it off and flashes the whole time it is shut off. Truck starts and runs fine. It does not have chip in key, I assume it has been replaced, as I have a different key for the door. I also just replace the driver door from another s10 and have a different key for it as well. What would make it flash only when you take out the key, and when you lock it manually the new door and unlock it triggers the alarm until you put the key in the switch
The key and security could be bypassed. A jumper wire may be in place that allows things to still start and run but when the key is out and power is still being by passed through the jumper wire which may make the security light to flash untill vehicle is back in the run position? That or the relearn could be done and may or may not help. See if there is a video or forum on how to bypass the security option on those trucks. May lead you to what may be taking place? Let me know what you figure out. Kinda curious whats causing it.
Ya just seen a video on how to bypass the security. See in behind your ignition Pannell on the steering column to see if they bypassed the security feature. Works but not so much of the right way of doing things. It can be reverted but will need to buy a new or used ignition with keys and do a relearn to fix the light senario in the dash
Thanks man, I’ll definitely look into that and let you know. I know it haft the two keys when I bought the truck an the ignition key is newer aftermarket looking key. And the door had been side swiped so I got one from a junkyard with the key and everything works but sometimes when I unlock it using the key to the door from the junkyard it sets the alarm off until I put the ignition key in, but doesn’t do it every time. I’ll check to see if bypassed and maybe see about a relearn. Thanks again for the insight and help.
Mine just done the flashing when I would open the doors and go out after I shut the door. But it change when I had to put in a power window motor for the window. now it don't flash when I open the door of the truck but does it now only after you drive it and stop flashing and go off after about 40 minutes.
What happens if the security light just stays on? Even without the key in it, it’ll stay on. It’ll start, but immediately shut itself off. If anyone has any ideas it’d be greatly appreciated.
If security light stays onnafter the vehicle is off and the key is removed you will have a paracidic draw. Battery will loose power. Prolly won't be able to start vehicle after x amount of hours or days depending the health of the battery. Light technically should not stay on. The remote side of things for on off sounds to be malfunctioning
did you get it fixed? bypass with orange and cut yellow wire on ignition switch.. solder in a resistor with ohm reading between the two wires. a known value with a meter on 10k scale.
@@LUCAMTire Ya figured it out A whole mess with the former owner of the truck that done his "own" wiring for a alarm And radio system. Threw in the old pcm..multimeter And found the parasitic draw running off the radio As it would stay on after the truck was off ... Thanks for the reply
When I'm trying to start a 2002 Chevy express van the security light acts normal. Comes on then goes out. When I am trying to start the engine (it doesn't hit a lick) the security light will come back on after 3 to 5 seconds. I don't think I've ever seen this. Doesn't flash
@@LUCAMTire nope. It's got spark. I've never seen the security light come back on before on any other Chevy. I even unhooked the fuel pump relay on another Chevy van and tried it. The security light doesn't come back on while cranking it

Right on happy it helped
Just wanted to say thank you. Did a cab swap on a gmc Sonoma and this helped make things easy sailing.
No problem.
Happy to help 😊

the intermittent problem could be because the security light and a worn out key and cylinder could definitely do it

I am not sure off the top of my head why it does not hold the memory of the key.
Your battery is in good health?
What do you do when the security light does not go out? Tried the relearn multiple times and have let sit for 2 hours
And I have the vats deleted but have trouble with no brake lights, no dome light and the retained auxiliary power does not work
