I just found this today after watching another video of yours and subscribed. Im happy to see how happy you look that your getting subscribers! I enjoy your videos and will watch many more. I am on day 18 with my very first time hatching eggs and have been following some other Maran hatchers advice. My humidity was between 25% and 36% no water sdded with the de humidifier running from day 1 to day 18. Today, Its lockdown and I added water to raise humidity to 55%. I pray my 4 BCM eggs will hatch!
That is good to know about the roosters being so docile. I would love to keep a rooster here on our farm but all the breeds we have tried attack me or my daughter. Might have to try a copper mauran.
All good roosters protect the ladies. Fortunately chickens are capable of learning the difference between people. You have to raise them and talk to them in your natural voice. They will eventually get used to your voice and not attack. Think of them as teenagers with a second grade mentality. And good luck!
I've herd Wheaton Marans lay a darker egg then Black Copper. Do you know this to be true? Hoover hatchery says they are. I was just wanting your advice on which to buy. Thanks.
Not yet, Juan. We're checking the eggs for fertility and don't have 100% yet. Since it's the middle of winter we're expecting it to be spring when we can start selling. We have a list if you're interested. You would be fourth in line for hatching eggs.
I have 8 pullets that just starting to lay. They all want my attention at the same time. I have had to ware pants and shoes that cover my feet, as if I am paying attention to one all the others give be a peck. I have had chickens before and never was pecked. My husband says I should take a water gun with me and give them a shot of water when the attack. I am afraid they will be afraid of me . At present they all come up to me for a pet. Any ideas how to stop this behavior ? /?
Here's what I would do; If they pecked me before I fed them I would stop feeding them afterwards. It's probably reinforcing their behavior. If you can find another way of alerting them when it's feeding time to get them associating it with food instead of pecking at you. It will probably only take a few times for them to get the idea. Hey, thanks for watching!
We have started a list for this years hatching eggs which we should be able to sell in March. I can put you on the list if you mail us your contact information; brady.geology@gmail
We will be selling hatching eggs when this years hens are separated with our best roosters, which is the next step in our overall plan. They are not all laying yet so it will be a little while.
Hello, if you're in the southern Missouri area we can offer chicks for sale only if you're able to come pick them up. We don't ship chicks. We're located near Ava.
Do you hatch all your eggs with the same method or only the BCM? I ordered a dozen variety color eggs but heard the BCM eggs needs special treatment. Is it possible to hatch them all together?
The BCM eggs seem to prefer lower humidity the last few days before the hatch. If its 50% the first 18 days of turning once they come out of the turners just allow the humidity to come down to at least 30% and you should be fine.
@@madebydevrie820 it will be fine. Once the eggs begin to hatch the humidity will go up naturally so that's why you don't want it high to begin with. We've been doing it this way for 6-7 years. There's always a few that just don't hatch, it's the same way in nature.
This will be my 1st year raising chickens and black copper maran is my top choice for chicks, hoping they'll have them locally

Black cooper marans love it, if you selling fertile eggs shipping in the Philippines,
I am curious, too, if shipping hatching eggs from the US to Philippines is possible. Have you had eggs shipped before? If so, how was it done?

@@tigrisvalleyfarm but will that be okay for the other colored eggs to hatch? I thought 30% humidity for lock down is considered really low.
