I have lost 130 lbs on Semaglutide (1 year) and Mounjaro (4 mos). Both work well for me and the change was due to Medicare BS. No bad side effects at all for me. Im a truly happy 71 yr old...thinner than any other time in my long healthy life! The meds removing ALL 'food chatter' in my head has been the winning feature for me.
@@twitterblackdoveDepending on what country you live in and if you are a genuine diabetic or not.......Tests have to prove this.and yu can't just say you are diabetic......Also much more is covered if you are older and on a pension.
I have lost 70 pounds with Semaglutide since June 2023. I can’t explain enough just how much this stuff has changed my life. I had been morbidly obese since childhood. I recently got my blood work back and for the first time in my entire life, my labs are good. My next goal is just to be a healthy body fat percentage. I’m getting close. 😊 Edit-9/2024 I've officially lost 100lbs on GLPs!! (I'm down 153lbs total)
@mkaRocki I started 6 weeks ago and only lost 4lbs. Has helped slightly with hunger, but nothing for cravings. I'm hoping next week with dose increase, it will improve
I just started Wednesday night and I’m hungry still but I do know it has to build up. It hasn’t stopped my sweets craving yet but I do know it will it’s only been 2 days. I have had no side effects other than sleeping really good which is a good thing. Can’t wait to see my weight loss. I’m also doing weight watchers keto diet along with it on the point system a bit more modified because I think their calorie points are too high so I watch my calorie intake but am doing mostly protein. My thing is I been doing Keto for almost a year did fall off for a few months I have mastered changing recipes into keto like cheesecake and cookies because it’s cheaper to make than buy in the store I can also make them not taste so grainy. I have found a really good keto bread the manufacturer is SOLA there bagels are amazing with Greek protein cream Cher’s so I’m not missing out on some of the things I love.
Im so thankful for this shot, it make me see that I was snaking too much. I have lost 40 lbs in 4 months it gave me the motivation to eat healthy and work out every day
.25 for 4 weeks. Now at .50. I plateaued for two weeks. Frustrating. Lost only 2lbs. But now its dropping again. I'm down 33lbs total in just under 9 weeks. But feeling better. I'm struggling with portion control. Even though I fix small amounts they are too big. But I'll keep adjusting.
I was border line Type II diabetic with my A1C going about 6. I started on Ozempic .50 mg 5 weeks ago. My experience has been that I have lost the craving for sweets and hunger pains. It has allowed me to focus on what I put into my body rather than eating what I like the most. No processed food. I eat blueberries, raspberries and nuts. Salads with virgin olive oil , celery, edamame. KETO bread and vegan butter. Chicken and fish. No processed anything. Minimal constipation and acid reflux. 18 lb weight loss first month. Looking forward to my blood work results in 4 weeks. No more mindless eating. Just mindfulness.
Yesssssssss. Stuck in life!!!! That’s exactly the feeling. Thank you!! Yes think of it as a tool to help you. I had gastric bypass 12 yrs ago. Lost 100lbs. Gained 60 back. Just got first shot. Day 2 down 3 lbs. I am excited. Houston here
What’s the update on your results? I had gastric bypass in 2014 and I lost 200lbs and gained 80 back. And am thinking about going this route to drop the weight instead of a revision surgery. The stuck feeling is becoming very overwhelming
This medicine has changed my life!! I have battled being overweight for yrs due to thyroid issues. Along with the extra weight came high blood pressure, high a1C, pre diabetes, sleep apnea, and high cholesterol. This does suppress your appetite so you feel full faster. I am down 55 lbs since march 2023, all my blood work is normal now, no more sleep apnea also, and I feel great! This medication has been a miracle for me, when nothing elsed worked for me❤
Mounjaro has changed my life. I've lost 85lb is 6 months. The only side effects I have has been some constipation. It does make it difficult to eat because your never hungry and have no hunger pains you don't crave food either. I can't finish a child's portion of food now. Lots of protein shakes and fresh fruit. I am diabetic and my A1C was 11 now it's 5.0 a normal blood glucose level. My metabolism was broken I tried every diet in the world over the past decades nothing worked. I do lift weights weekly to maintain my muscle and walk a lot. I was Obese at 300lb for almost 30yrs now 215 I'm normal sized person again. I'm 6ft tall and my goal weight is 200. This drug is a game changer If your Obese and can get it go for it you won't regret it.
Before taking my first shot I had bloodwork done. Then I went to a nutritionist and started working out. I changed my relationship with food. After 7 months of hardworking and a semiglutide, I lost a total of 60 pounds. I’ve been off Wegovy for about 6 months and have only gained about 10 pounds back. However, that weight is mostly muscle mass as I’ve been weight training 4x a week.
I just began my first shot last Tuesday and today (Monday) I have lost 9 pounds. granted most of that was fluid because I had a lot of inflammation and water retention, but I have to say that I have not been hungry! I have had to make myself eat, and I have been basically eating one meal a day. I have struggled with appetite suppression for a long time, but this first shot of 0.25 in this first week I am impressed with the way this suppresses my appetite. I have had no nausea or diarrhea. I give my shot in my thigh, not the stomach because I watched another video that suggested the thigh rather than the stomach in order to not have those issues and for me, it worked.
I found that eating 2-3 eggs every day keeps things moving and Greek yogurt everyday keeps the digestive tract healthy. I also find that nausea happens when I have waited to long to eat so those gastric juices just sit with nothing to do.
@maxsmom-bv6hf I totally agree with you. Same here. When I waited too long to eat the gas and nauseous kills me. My first week..Still learning, I have lost 6 lbs. I am sure it is water but I will stick with it and avoid the food that makes me sick and eat small every 3 hrs small portions.
OMG…the phrase:”Stucked in the mud” is exactly the feeling I have had for sooo long 😢, makes me feel so good and touched hearing a professional, a Doctor, saying exactly what I feel…God bless you doc,it’s a great feeling that your knowledge, and intelligent approach in this video have caused in me…Thank you…
I am a 61 year old, post menopausal , pre diabetic, woman, with severe osteoporosis and suffering with depression (4 year divorce, mom passing, son transitioning…). I need to lose 80 pounds to be at a “healthy weight”. I started a month ago at .25. I have only lost 2 pounds but, truly my fault. It was hard to pull myself up and do the lifestyle changes I needed to do. I went from 3500 calories a day (including alcohol) to 800-1000 just because I wasn’t hungry. Note: you have to eat whether you feel hungry or not. I lost the cravings for sugar including alcohol. I love not feeling hungry. With any weight loss diet or drug, you have to be willing to put in the effort and figure out why it is that (if necessary) you have the relationship with food and alcohol that you do. My dosage increases next week and I’ve started walking again. Wish me luck!
So happy for you I struggle with depression too and gained 30 pounds bc of it. Semaglutide started off slow for me too but as time passes and your dose increases you will loose the weight without having to do much. Quitting alcohol also really helped for my mental health and my body doesn’t feel like shit anymore thanks to semaglutide. Good luck in your journey.
@CreationsbyKimberly? I cannot even imagine going through all those losses you described. My heart reaches out to you and I hope that you are feeling depression-free these days. You're strength to keep going has inspired me to not complain anymore about my own struggles. ❤
Dr Stirette, you're a real Godsend! I just started my first week on Wegovy because I've been obese for so long. I've tried and failed diets to the point of giving up. My primary doctor recommended that I try Wegovy and in just 3 days, I've lost 4 pounds of water weight and am less bloated. I've watched so many videos that were full of negative horror stories. Your take on this weight loss strategy is aligned with my doctor and how she thoroughly explained how Wegovy injections work. My appetite has been suppressed enough to not be an emotional eater and have junk food cravings. I am enjoying healthier foods and eating more protein has stabilized my hunger. This is a real game changer for me and your video had given me so much encouragement. I'm also scrolling on past the videos that give Wegovy such negative feedback! Thanks! 😊
I’ve just completed my first month of semiglutide and I’m down about 8lbs. I’m so grateful to have this, as I’ve really been having a hard time justifying. You hear so much noise from other people, and I just felt like I was cheating or doing something that was hurting my health. But the truth is I’ve been sick for four years with mold toxicity And I’m trying to get my life back in order which includes my Weight. I feel like my excess weight is of the most important right now because it impacts every other part of my health. I haven’t been able to lose weight and I don’t even know that I could’ve gone through this weight loss process again while I’m sick but what you said is exactly right. Losing the weight is the incentive. It allows me to focus more on “how to eat right again” and not so much on “will the weight come off?…because I know the semiglutide will help me. I couldn’t figure out how to contact you.
I have metabolic obesity I was 65 lbs overweight and I am 63 years old. With this weekly drug I have lost 55 lbs in 5 months. I eat a balanced diet and monitor my blood sugars. I has been a big change in my blood sugar levels 70-95 consistently for the last 5 months. I have only been nauseous 1 time while taking this medicine. I haven’t had to increase my dose. I am very grateful
I'm struggling with this bro. In my 12th week, have only lost 10 lbs. I'm doing everything my doc is telling me. Walking 50 minutes a day, super clean diet, 1700-1800 calories a day, plenty of fiber and hydration, zero booze. No answers yet, other than I appear to be a "slow responder."
I started with this drug in April and I have lost 60lbs. I have been incredibly happy with my results and I have done it with a rather low dose, my body was just very responsive to the drug. I would highly recommend.
@@bereverynice I have been using a compound version that is ordered from a compound pharmacy. Per the dosage instructions I should be using 70-80 units per injection however I never got above 30 units.
Dr Stirrett, just listening to you is motivational !!! You seem so caring and compassionate, without being judgmental. Your explanation is straightforward and convincing. Thanks alot for this.😊
I have stayed at 0.2 to 0.3 for 7 months, It is what my body is comfortable at, anything higher will kind of cause my heart rate to go up, and it suppresses appetite enough for me that I have lost 70pound in the past 8 months, which I am quite happy about, since there are total about 1.5 months in the past 8 months I was on vacation, which set me back a bit. But overall, It helped me a lot, for me it is truly painless, unlike all my past experiences with weight loss, and now I no longer hate exercise, in fact, I am able to workout 5 times a week, each time an hour of cardio, I can't image this success without semaglutide.
I'm glad to hear that you stayed at the low dose. I don't want to keep increasing the dose so I am using the low dose to help me but not overpower me. It's working!!
Loosing weight is really a simple math, but it is very hard. I know exactly how to diet, I am in health care field and taken nutrition classes and have experience with fitness and bodybuilding dieting. My nutrition professor was obese for goodness sake, he just loved to eat. I can diet for a few weeks and then fall back into old habits. Finally decided to use the bare minimum semiglutide. I am so shocked at how helpful this is. I am not hungry, but am following a proper diet that I know will provide nutrients and protein to support a healthy weight loss, but I can definitely drop a few calories off my daily plan with this new help. I am so grateful for it. It’s been years of trying to lose weight.
So appreciate this. I am on 12.5 mg, was raised to 25 mg. Was so fatigued. Went back to 12.5. Consistently losing 2#/week. At my age (72) and being unable to do much exercise due to medical issues, I feel this is nothing short of miraculous. In fact, it feels almost magical. I still struggle with the fatigue some days. Does anyone else experience that?
OMG! I have not taken this step yet, but everything you said makes sense to me. I've been watching and reading many things about ozempic. And so many opinions and what not. I have been battling insulin resistance for about 15 years developed from PCOS. I have lived an evolved life of discipline and healthy lifestyle of correct foods and weight training, never succeeding in weight loss and now am pre diabetic and my diet has nothing to do with it. I live an extremely healthy lifestyle. I have so many people telling me not to resort to this and I've had concerns myself. I really like your approach on this. I'm currently working on my gut health before I start. I've also heard of I take this route, I can never stop taking it and I'll get all the weight back. It sounds like considering my lifestyle that I already have, this wont happen to me. Thank you for making this presentation. It's been helpful.
Been on a 1mg dose for months (after starting on .25mg for a month). Love it. Agree with this video 💯. I have completely re-learned how to eat. Hard to imagine "gaining it all back" considering my new habits that I love. I could be wrong, but in my layperson's opinion, I feel the medication gave me room and time to get back to better habits. Because they ARE habits, I'm sticking with them. I'm not a doctor, so I don't want to share specifics, but I have avoided side effects pretty easily (never vomited once), and with a better diet (but never "on a diet"), I've gotten great results. I DO see an endocrinologist who orders lab work and monitors me. To me, a doctor's guidance is key. Wouldn't try to do this without a doctor guiding it. Oh, and my A1C is back to VERY normal.😎🌴
@@CB-bk9xj Yes, I've been working out. In fact, your reply came through while I was at the gym.😎 My energy improved with the weight loss and change in diet habits. The medication just gave me room to adjust how I eat and get lighter enough to begin walking a lot again. I mostly use walking to "work out," with just a couple of days a week lifting LIGHT weights. I'm not a gym rat, but I do walk a lot.
Which are you taking and how much was your A1C before, mine is always 5.7 or 5.8 but doctor never suggested going on semiglutade and I do want to stop the insulin’s resistance I have had for years now
Thank you so much for this video. So informative. I was an average body weight (with exception of a few times going 20 lbs. over that weight over the years). After having Stage 3 breast cancer 4 years ago, with 5 months of chemo, double mastectomy, radiation and being thrown into menopause because of the chemo, I was then put on a hormone blocker because as a prevention of the cancer recurring which I have been on for 4 years and to be on for another 6 years. I am now 80 lbs. over weight. My oncologist noticed “fast” increase in weight over time, and recommended I see an endocrinologist, bloodwork done, thyroid, etc. all good, except my cholesterol is at the 200 mark. I am not diabetic. So, I started Ozempic 3 days ago .25. So far, no side effects. I started it on a Friday night, in the stomach. I was a bit intimidated by the Ozempic as you have to change needle heads, and adjust the amount of medication administered, which really scared me. Originally, was prescribed Wegovy (one pen per use, no messing with needles or amount of the med to be injected) but there has been a nationwide shortage of Wegovy, so my doctor gave me Ozempic. Looking forward to getting my pre-cancer life back, getting active and going hiking again. Keeping my fingers crossed! 😊
@@kzp5249 Hi KZP, I have completed 8 weeks and lost 22 lbs. so far. I was switched over to Wegovy .50 (as it was in stock again). In 8 more lbs I will start weight training (I wanted to lose 30 first so that it is easier for me to exercise). Woo hoo!
l Just started and in one week down 3 lbs. Its amazing. 58 and gained weight in the last 2 years. This video really helped. I am definitely going to start adding fiber. I purchased from a respectable on line website for a very low cost. Telehealth program did not mention fiber. I saved over $700 a month and I am so glad I did it. Its like it turns something off in your brain/ Seriously. No late night, sugar, snacks, or over eating. Love it.
3:04 Very well expressed. Thank you. I start my compound semaglutide next week. 6’2” 350 lbs. Diabetic and Metabolic Syndrome, morbidly obese. Wish me luck! 🙏🏽
I just started today and I'm so encouraged! My weight has been a lifetime battle. I've just snacked on yoghurt lean lunch meat and tomato soup today. I went to GNC and bought some low cal protein drinks and ginger root 550 mg which is supposed to help with nausea. I love that fact that he specified Metamucil for fiber. I can honestly say that I have not been hungry or had cravings. Wow. Good luck to you!
UPDATE: I’m on week three. Two weeks on .5 and this week was my first .75. I have not stepped on a scale yet…waiting for my 4 week check-in with my doctor. My problem is compulsive nighttime eating. It’s literally killing me and most definitely put me into Type II. The compound has not yet helped me with that but I’m super positive that it will. For me, it’s been ALL about using the glucose meter to understand what I’ve been doing that got me here and truly seeing digitally how my body is responding to the changes I’m making. HERE’S THE DIRTY TRUTH: The trick that these compounds are playing on your body is simply slowing down digestion and thus motility. YOU GOTTA EAT FIBER AND PROTEIN AND STAY THE MOST HYDRATED YOUVE EVER STAYED. I’ve already felt the reduction in appetite and the feeling of being satiated. I’ve literally never felt “full” in my life-I eat until I fall asleep. Bad news: you still gotta exercise. 🤷🏼♂️ Sorry. You should be walking anyway fat ass! 🙏🏽💙👊🏽
Great video on Ozempic. Started taking last August & have lost on average about 2lbs a week @ the .50 amount. Control of your diet & exercise is still very important to the success of losing weight but it really lowers the A1C for type 2 diabetics - mine went from over 10 to 7.2 so far. Weight loss seems to vary & can depend on differing factors - especially when you have other medical conditions such as PCOS, thyroid problems, type 2 diabetes or a combination of them as I do. Losing weight was difficult if not downright impossible & I tended to yo-yo more than anything else before. So far, because of the ability to take off the weight, I've been able to stop one of the type 2 diabetic meds and lower the amount of thyroid medicine needed too. Oddly enough, I did start craving sugar - like just a piece of hard candy (which was really odd as I was never a sweets eater). You also mighty notice that the taste of some foods changes too.
👏I’m 53 5’1” and I lost 50lb and gained lean muscle and strength. Been on a GLP-1 for 2 years. Maintaining for well over a year now. Have done 2 DEXA scans and also gained muscle (and strength!) lost body fat. Exclusively work out at home. Sharing my weight loss/fitness journey on my social media IG/FB and my story on my RUclips channel. Prioritize protein, sleep, sunlight, natural whole foods, walking, lift weight build. I’m now 113lb and 10%BF and eat a lot! 1800-2000c. I’m in the best health of my life and staying on my weekly dose!
It's so easy to be more smart with food choices. It cuts down on the food noise. I have been drinking more water than ever before! I am in control of my body and when to eat. No snacking! It's just amazing!
This was very helpful, I was prescribed Ozempic 4 weeks ago. It has made an impact. I'm losing weight and my appetite and cravings are more controlled. This video was extremely helpful.
Thank you for doing this. I’ve just started on Wegovy in the uk and am shocked by how even I’m week 1 the cravings I used to have are so much less. I’m so grateful to have this tool and from years of feeling stuck and weak willed I am hopeful of a healthier future. Eating clean and healthy and will take the psyllium husk now too
I’m desperate to have Wegovy but my bmi is not quite high enough and my GP in the U.K. won’t or cannot prescribe. Please can you advise me how I can do this. I’m so unhappy
This was such a refreshing video, thank you! I’ve started these recently and was a little nervous after seeing some negative reviews/videos but this was very helpful and made me feel better about my choice to take this route.
Thank you for this!! I've been on it for a few months and it has changed my life, the decrease in food noise has been a game changer for me. I can take a small amount or leave things that in the past would cause me to binge. Also going to start therapy to better understand my emotional triggers and poor relationship with food. I was also diagnosed with MS 2 years ago and discussed taking this with my neurologist and she was 100% on board. There are numerous studies on its ability to reduce inflammation and help lessen symptoms for people with autoimmune disorders. It's an incredible tool!!
You are so focused on the topic and explain everything clearly and directly. I appreciate this so very much. Your video provided me with a lot of knowledge I did not know I needed. Thank you
I just started it literally 4 days ago and I’ve lost 17lbs of water weight. I have been on Lasix for my water retention and I thought it was helping, but omg I didn’t realize I was holding onto that much. I’ve felt a little nauseous on and off, but I noticed it has depended on what kind of food I ate. I have not been hungry at all. I’ve just gauged when to eat based on when my husband says, “Heyyyy it’s dinner time and I’m hungry and btw you should eat too!” 😂 We went on a date and I got a cookie and just looking at it made me feel gross. I took one bite, and gave the rest to my husband. Even though I haven’t been hungry, when I do eat, I want protein and whole foods and when I’m full I barely noticed but I just stop eating.
@@belmaomanovic8590 I was thoroughly shocked!! It’s slowed down a bit now, I’ve lost about 8lbs over the past few weeks, but I guess I was holding onto a lot more fluid than I realized!
This video is great. So many of the videos on RUclips are about not taking the medication. But so many take it and others are starting on it. Nice to see a video about how to maintain your results after reaching goal and preventing side effects.
Yes..how to maintain is very important.. a friend of mine.did ozempic..she said it gave her gastoprioses..but you have to watch what you eat you just can't eat anything you want. That's why she got ill. This Dr. Explains why. I am going in next week so l think they will start me on Wegovy. Ozmp. Is a lower copay for me but we'll see what the pharm/ nutritionist says. I'm excited!. Thanks for sharing Everyone!!❤️
What a refreshing video. Actually gave I information that is helpful and positive. Just started my 3rd shot but doctor started me on .10. Lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks. I’m sure it’s mostly water but I’ll take it. Changing dose next week to .25. Definitely turns off food noise and cravings. It’s been a nice change.
Thank you for this video! I'm T2 diabetic and I've been on Ozempic since November. I've lost 24 pounds, and I feel like my weight loss has stalled. I learned a lot from your video that I plan on implementing right away. And thanks for the encouragement
My doctor tried to get me to go to 1.0...but I declined. Have been at .5 for 25 weeks now. So long as I continue to lose - I will remain here. Currently plateaued ...but Halloween candy in the house has not helped. Hope to get back on track soon and start losing again...so i don't have to go up in dosage. Down 40 pounds so far.
It’s not about a pattern of eating . People who really need this drug have a hormonal issue and don’t make enough of glp 1 naturally and are therefore always hungry. This medicine also acts on the brain to tell you that you are full. People With obesity are not lazy and they do have will power . It’s beyond that bc of all the brain food chatter which ozempic also reduces
I love that term you use “brain food chatter”. I can totally relate. I’d never heard that term before, but I’ve struggled with it for a very long time. Thank you!
31 y/o, pcos, morbidly obese Started my shots on yesterday (Thursday) and down 3 pounds. I haven’t been really craving anything which is so good for me cause I emotionally eat or eat when I’m bored. ❤I think this is the best thing ever for me. Hope to update you guys soon. Looking for a community that really understands what we go thru ❤
So thankful for this video and it not being condemning at all for being on this medication. I’ve been on it for 10 months lost approx 35 lbs and 15+ inches overall on my body!!! I am doing my best to eat healthier and exercise and making a life style change bc I don’t want to be on this forever!!! Will take you up on your suggestions.
Thanks for you comments in the end about being stuck in the mud. That is exactly how I felt. I've been able to get moving in the past but couldn't seem to get going. It's help me make a change for the better. I'm not using it as a mono therapy but using it as a jump off point to get moving again.
Thank you for this info! It made me feel better. My doc gave the the go ahead after a blood panel but the chit chat and gossip about it made me worry.. I’ve stayed on 5 because I’m determined not to use it for a crutch but only a reminder of how many calories I realistically need…. Thank you!!
I have crohns and the slow down effects are pretty beneficial for me. I find I'm still taking Immodium when I need to travel or be far from a bathroom just in case, but I love how semaglutide seems to help even when I'm not taking that.
I’ve been on Ozempic for three weeks and the only side effect I’m experiencing is occasional nausea it’s not severe, and it never last very long, but it is a symptom
You need to keep your electrolytes on point. Magnesium will help at night. And if you have GERD or high acid can make you nauseous. Stay very hydrated!
I’m in the Uk, I have T2 Diabetes, and other health issues. I’ve lost 22 pounds since April 2024. I began my journey with 0.25mg of Semaglutide then 0.5mg and now on 1mg/wk. I still have an appetite besides hearing and reading about people forgetting to eat. I find that food is not on my mind 24h/day but I eat healthy meals with proteins. When I go shopping, I choose my groceries wisely with healthy greens. Low carbs diet until I want a slice of bread. I stay away from salty or sugary food. I love sourdough bread and I also love cheese, a terrible combination, ‘i know, tell me about it !’ One of my weakness! Semaglutide helps mimic GLP1, the hormone of satiety, this hormone signals the brain that you are full. Here’s a metaphor-It’s like a food switch you can turn off and It truly helps to eat less over time, so portions control are more manageable. Yes, ozempic is lowering my T2D, BP (high) and weight loss. I feel better on all counts, I have more confidence now that I’ve lost Lb 22 and counting… Last week, I actually managed to wear a swimsuit at the beach , for years I just couldn’t wear one as I was too self conscious. When i started Ozempic I was Lb 225 at my heaviest and I’m 5’2, a big BMI. I have water retention on my legs so undressing was a No No. No Way! Never ! I’ve tried to lose weight over the years to improve my general health. I’m 56 and when you need to lose over 60 pounds to have a normal BMI, it’s just near impossible to keep it off. It’s a fact, semaglutide is a game changer, it’s a tool for people to reverse their diabetes, lower blood pressure, weight loss for overweight people. Well it really helps me and I will continue taking it at a low dose.
I lost 13 lbs after 4 .25 injections. Side-effects were intense. Nausea (ginger pills worked great). Vomited once. Fatigue beyond belief. Things are better after my 5th injection. Now my appetite is coming back- going up to .50
Change your injection site!!! It is crazy no one really talks about this, but it made a huge difference for me. My sweet spot where I feel the best and feel like I have the best beneift is my inner left thigh. Did outer for a while until it started to hurt there. Did the stomach circle around the belly button for a month to try last month and it made more consitpated I feel. Did my arms 2x's gave me migrains. Did my right inner thigh and was so nausea and sick that whole week. 70lbs down since 4/2023 on Wegovy. I hit a plateau in December and it took 3 mos to break in! Change it up and find what is best for you!
Hi I am 81 years old and I started Semaglutide August 2023. I have lost 35 pounds but I feel I should have lost more but I was just given the drug and I was on my own. I think Doctors meant well in prescribing something to help but after listening to you I feel I didn't have much if any guidance. I have considered stopping but my labs are really good and my blood pressure is 110/70. I have 50 more pounds to lose so I hate to quit but I am at a standstill for awhile now. I guess I need help.
Thank you you were very informative. I am someone who suffers from constipation. This will be my 1st week on semaglutide. I drinking at least have my weight in water, I will be taking the fiber today. I also already take a probiotic. I'm only eating 2 meals a day but I already fast so I don't start eating until 12:00 in the afternoon. I also drink water when I eat. Thank you for the helpful tips.
I love a doctor that lets us know how it really is the more information the better We trust these doctors we put our lives in their hands we need more doctors like you .Thank you I just started following you I want to try this I've struggled with weight loss for a long time .
I enjoyed your video! I have been on Manjuro for the last 11 months. I have lost 135lb! I still weigh 305! I changed my diet and I am working out 5-6 days! I maybe going on Wegovy because of insurance change! I am on 15 mg at the present time, what would you suggest to start on Wegovy? Thank you
Thank you for such a great explanation of this drug. I’ve received mine and I am and have been stuck and now a caregiver for my parents I need to help myself so that I can be there for them. I’m nervous but ready👍🏾
I have been take Ozempic for 6 months for diabetes. I am down 30 pounds, but I’ve lost so many inches, down 2 bar sizes and three pant sizes. I workout 5 days a week. I eat lots of fiber, water and probiotics. I have had issues with diarrhea, and some nausea. I do have to remind myself to eat. Started at .5 now at 2. I know what works for me food wise, lots of fruit and smoothies. Eggs, protein. No fast food, bread is hard on my stomach. Before taking this I crave diet soda, I drank a Coke Zero every day, haven’t drank one in 3 months, it actually taste bad to me now.
I am diabetic as well as obese and my health plan formulary doesn't include Ozempic so I purchase compounded semaglutide via a mail order weight loss clinic (with the supervision of my doctor) because I can't afford name brand Ozempic. The prescription comes from a certified US pharmacy, so I feel confident that it's not going to kill me. I have been using it for a few months now and have opted to keep at lower doses because I don't want major side effects. I love that it comes with insulin needles and I can control the dosage myself. I started at .25mg and now take .75 and honestly, that's enough for now (although I like your idea of perhaps taking a 2nd shot per week at a smaller dosage each time to bump the total dosage a little w/o it causing problems and will discuss that with my doctor). It has DRAMATICALLY changed my relationship with food (it no longer calls my name or whispers to me). My biggest challenge has been to eat enough because food really doesn't taste very good, but for me that's a GOOD thing. My blood sugar has dropped dramatically (I'd been fighting with my doctor for a long time because he wanted to put me on insulin and since I have a commercial drivers license it would have been a disaster). I haven't lost dramatic weight since being on this med but know I could increase that if I upped the dosage...first I want to adjust to make sure I'll be able to eat enough protein and take in enough fiber, among other reasons. I have been extremely pleased with my experience after a life of morbid obesity and 20 yrs of T2 diabetes. It truly is a miracle.
I was started today at only .25 and was feeling disappointed and wondered if I should inject more so thank you so much for saying I would be surprised. Im going to give it a go. Update: It's been 3 weeks. I've lost 7 lbs and my MD put titrated me to .5 🥳🥳 Update: Im on my 2nd week of 1mg. Im down 20lbs. So about 10lbs a month so far.
I'd love to know what advice you have for me. Im about to start with my first shot. I had gastric bypass RNY 20 years ago and have gained most of it back. Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.
I just started my 1st dose today. Iv heard nothing but good things about the semiglutide so I'm beyond excited to see how well it works for me, especially through out this month and many months to come. ❤ 🙏
Thank you. You give such solid advice. I have Hidradenitis Supparativa. Originally, I started on Humira/Hyrimoz. That was life altering for me. I was drinking water again and that meant a drastic reduction in my HS symptoms and improvements in my management of the condition. Then my physicians (I have a team of PCP, Derm, GI, and Endo because I have GI symptoms and Endo to make sure my Endo symptoms don’t advance) added semiglutides. The semiglutide has helped inflammation, which is helpful for HS, but it has meant that I can cut out dairy and gluten completely. Now my HS and inflammation is greatly under control. I’m maintaining weight loss. With the help of knowledgeable physicians who have stayed up to date on the science behind it, it’s amazing what semiglutides have given me.
I started October of 2023 as a type 2 diabetic, as of January of 2024 I’ve lost 65 pounds and my A1C was 5.3 from a 7.1. Very happy with the outcome both with A1C and the weight loss.
Semaglutide has been so great for me. I had a duodenal switch in 2004 (Surgery weight: 462) and i managed to lose 220 lbs and maintain that loss through most of the past 20 years. But 3 years ago i gained weight to 300 lbs and in july 2023 i weighed 344. i was miserable. I have lipedema and lymphedema and chronic metabolic issues with insulin resistance. My first shot day (21 June) I weighed 313.4 lbs. This morning 278.4 lbs. that's 35 lbs down since june!! I switched my diet to anti-inflammatory and changed my habits to treat my lymphedema as well as starting semaglutide. i'm taking 20 units currently so i think it's a .5 dose. Thank you for your videos. they are so informative!
My doctor just prescribed semiglutide for me but I'm having to get it from a compound pharmacy so I won't get it for another 2-3 weeks. I'm looking forward to getting started. I've been struggling with my weight for years. As I've gotten older it has gotten worse. I'm having bloodwork done but based on my previous numbers my doctor said I'm insulin resistant. I told her about me exercising my butt off and cutting out bad foods but still not losing weight which is now mentally affecting me because I feel like a failure no matter what I do. I'm hoping the meds help so I can finally quit feeling like a big useless blob.
@@chiquisfb7533- I'm getting it from a local compound pharmacy because other local pharmacies were out of Wegovy, plus my insurance didn't cover the name brand medication but my doctor still had to send over the prescription for it. They make the medicine in-house then mail it to me.
Thank you for this invaluable information. I am about to start my own journey with semaglutide tomorrow. I’m praying my PCP is knowledgeable, and adjusts my dosage appropriately. Speaking of diet, my go to breakfast is plain Greek yogurt with blueberries and raspberries. Now I am concerned, since this video suggests that dairy is not recommended. Should I give up my yogurt 🧐 😢
I started .5mg dosage Ozempic and 1500 Metformin extended release. I water fasted first 14 days. Now I eat OMAD…anything I want. Seven weeks later I’ve lost 55.4 lbs and I feel great
Everyone with these awesome results I was on .25 for 4 weeks And this week .50 im down around 5 to 6 pounds Im working out Why am i not losing more? I appear to be resistant
I have been on Ozempic for 9 weeks and have lost 16 pounds but the bigger thing is I have lost like 10 inches off my chest and 5 off my waist and hips. I feel 1-2 pounds a week is good and safe for me. You need VERY high fiber! For me that is oats, grapes, apple juice and a lot of it. I only take .50 mg for my Type 2 diabetes. I can't eat a lot and pretty sure I am losing weight from malnutrition. I no longer crave carbs or sugar and garlic is a big no no. I go back to the doctor in a couple weeks, highly doubt he will raise my dosage. The one thing is I was taking 48 units of insulin a day, now I can not take any at all but at end of week I do take 10 units a day. I hope my A1C is down. I also can not eat large portions so I eat like 2 tablespoon - 1/4 cup of something and I am stuffed. Going to take a multi vitamin to help out I think. You will gain the weight back if you don't take the hint and eat junk again. I also walk 1 - 2 miles 3 times a week and lift weights on other days
I had a friend give me the heads up before I started on saxenda to drink tons of water to avoid the nausea and this totally works - I know when I don’t drink water it can creep in but now I’ve been on it for months it seems to not even really be a problem now 12kg down makes a huge difference to disrupting my metabolism intake heaps of health supplements and also make sure I eat healthy keto based foods so I get enough protein 🐨 thanks for your video so many negative pieces on RUclips from ppl who do not really know and have been wound up about diabetics missing out - I am middl aged and we are nearly all pre diabetic which is why we put on so much weight this is game changer and I wish ppl would stop the hate ❤❤❤ I am trying to prevent sliding into obesity and diabetes by taking action when I’m 20 kg over weight not 50 kg
So did my dr. I am on 1mg, and I still have not lost anything. I have hypothyroidism and have had a gastric sleeve, so I am eating protein. 😢 please, some insight, anyone!!! What is wrong with my body!!!
I appreciate the good advice Dr. Stirrett. My progress is slow. I have had nausea and vomiting's at night. My guess, is I hade to close to going to bed and the food was just sitting there. I do take a pre/probiotic and that helps with constipation. I really could use some tips on what I can do to speed up the process. I have been on it for a month and lost 2 lbs.
I have used Semaglutide and Liraglutide to lose weight. My mental health suffered significantly with liraglutide, so I stopped it immediately and gained twice as much as I had lost. I was switched to Semaglutide and although the depression wasn’t quite so severe, it was still very bad. I am reducing Semaglutide gradually, so I don’t gain too much weight, but I would warn anyone with any existing mental health issues to either avoid these drugs completely, or to get advice from their therapist or psychiatrist before starting. I have been through 2 years of hell, and I am just starting to get my mental health back. I hope I can fully recover and I will look at Atkin’s instead. I wish I had received better advise and I wouldn’t have lost 2 years of my life to these medications. I am still heavier than when I first started.
There is something I want to say to everyone reading this and that is if U R worried U R going to be shamed by others for taking weight loss drugs JUST REMEMBER U don't need to tell anyone private info between U and your doctor......I am still discussing with my doctor different options and regardless on what my doctor and I choose as the best course of action for my health I won't discuss 3 things......1/ anything discussed with my doctor ( including weight loss options) 2/ whether I have had a Covid injection or not and 3/ who I choose to vote for in politics.....These R all private matters and it is really nobodies business. They can ask but you can POLITELY say that you don't discuss these things because it is a private matter.....And I think it is important to tell others that they look really healthy or they look great RATHER than saying they have lost weight because this can trigger people.....I don't want to be defined by numbers on a scale......I think it is more beneifcial for people to say you look healthy or your skin looks amazing. Once you say " You have lost weight" then they feel they are defined my a number on the scale again.
Thanks so much! I have suffered extreme nausea at times. Especially if I go outside in the heat. My heat tolerance is through the roof. Thanks for the tips appreciate it. Will definitely use them!
Hello. Thanks for the information. If I choose to inject a smaller amount than prescribed and to do it 2X’s a week I won’t have enough needles. Is that correct? I start tomorrow so I’m a bit unsure about how that would work. Thanks
I have PCOS I been taking 0.25 for the last month haven’t seen weight loss but haven’t gained so that’s a good thing. My head hurts from time to time and if I don’t eat for a while i start feeling nauseous I also am working with a dietitian so hopefully I will see results soon.

That's awesome! I'm kinda scared to purchase it because my insurance doesn't cover it. Have your heard of Zealthy weight loss?
I have lost 70 pounds with Semaglutide since June 2023. I can’t explain enough just how much this stuff has changed my life. I had been morbidly obese since childhood. I recently got my blood work back and for the first time in my entire life, my labs are good. My next goal is just to be a healthy body fat percentage. I’m getting close. 😊
Edit-9/2024
I've officially lost 100lbs on GLPs!!
(I'm down 153lbs total)
Did it simply stop or significantly reduce your hunger?
@mkaRocki I started 6 weeks ago and only lost 4lbs. Has helped slightly with hunger, but nothing for cravings. I'm hoping next week with dose increase, it will improve
Same here thanks 4 sharing
Congratulations, God bless you!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I just started Wednesday night and I’m hungry still but I do know it has to build up.
I have found a really good keto bread the manufacturer is SOLA there bagels are amazing with Greek protein cream Cher’s so I’m not missing out on some of the things I love.

.25 for 4 weeks. Now at .50. I plateaued for two weeks. Frustrating. Lost only 2lbs. But now its dropping again. I'm down 33lbs total in just under 9 weeks. But feeling better. I'm struggling with portion control. Even though I fix small amounts they are too big. But I'll keep adjusting.

@lawrencemartin24 the target dose for weightloss is 2.5. Your barely on 0.5 you are doing great!

I been on this medication for 1 week. Down 7 pounds. No side effects.

I am 1 month in and currently down 16.5 lbs.
Which medicine are you taking?
I don’t understand i did not loose weight my 1st week im half way my 2nd week and ive lost only 3lbs 😢
could you share the link to the video about the shot location?
Can you share with me your shot dosage. I read .25 first week. What is your second dosage . I have a script for two months .

All the best dear!
Did you face side effects like nausea or diarrhoea?
So happy for you I struggle with depression too and gained 30 pounds bc of it. Semaglutide started off slow for me too but as time passes and your dose increases you will loose the weight without having to do much. Quitting alcohol also really helped for my mental health and my body doesn’t feel like shit anymore thanks to semaglutide. Good luck in your journey.
Divorce and transition? Zamn u failed in life😂
Awesome!!!

I agree my doctor didn’t give me much info
Wish u would share how u did not throw up please! A1C is very high all of a sudden and starting on O this coming week😊
Which are you taking and how much was your A1C before, mine is always 5.7 or 5.8 but doctor never suggested going on semiglutade and I do want to stop the insulin’s resistance I have had for years now
Doctor fold me the dose of 1mg or the 2.4 make no difference
This is more information than what my daughter’s doctor provided. Thank you.
Any progress?
@@kzp5249 Hi KZP, I have completed 8 weeks and lost 22 lbs. so far. I was switched over to Wegovy .50 (as it was in stock again). In 8 more lbs I will start weight training (I wanted to lose 30 first so that it is easier for me to exercise). Woo hoo!
As a pharmacist, respect for you and great video. Well stated!
l Just started and in one week down 3 lbs. Love it.
Can you share the where you purchased
What company sells to you please
How's it going? I'm about to start compounded too.
I started mine this week, Tirzepatide. 250 lb. Female 5’3” 48 YO. High blood pressure non-diabetic. Cancer survivor.
Just started my first dose today, and I will keep everyone updated. The comments have helped a lot.
Same. 1st shot administered today.
how's it going? Im thinking of starting this. I have 50lb to loose. Thinking of going through a company called Henry Meds. How did you get yours?
I, too, will start soon. I will use the Akina Pharmacy
how is it going?
How's it going? Just started semaglutide yesterday.
Wow this is the most informative video from a doctor’s perspective! You just gained a new subscriber!
It's so easy to be more smart with food choices. It cuts down on the food noise. I have been drinking more water than ever before! I am in control of my body and when to eat. No snacking! It's just amazing!
Do you feel thirsty or need to constantly drink water?
How much did u pay for meds
Are you taking semaglutide?
Food noise is an excellent way to put it!!
You’re full of shit and not everyone is the same
This was very helpful, I was prescribed Ozempic 4 weeks ago.

Im on my first week and waking up and not thinking about food it is bloody amazing.
I’ve just gauged when to eat based on when my husband says, “Heyyyy it’s dinner time and I’m hungry and btw you should eat too!” 😂
We went on a date and I got a cookie and just looking at it made me feel gross. I took one bite, and gave the rest to my husband. Even though I haven’t been hungry, when I do eat, I want protein and whole foods and when I’m full I barely noticed but I just stop eating.
17 that’s unreal
@@belmaomanovic8590 I was thoroughly shocked!! It’s slowed down a bit now, I’ve lost about 8lbs over the past few weeks, but I guess I was holding onto a lot more fluid than I realized!
That's the weight of a healthy toddler 😅
I am insulin Resistant and my a1c went from 5.4.-5.9 so l do not want D. Noway!

It’s been a nice change.
did you take the .1 twice a week? are you increasing because the .1 isn't effective anymore? thx
I cut out gluten and dairy for the most part. I do have to take miralax more often tho. I’m down 11 lb in a month! Wohoo me

Thank you for this video! I'm T2 diabetic and I've been on Ozempic since November. I've lost 24 pounds, and I feel like my weight loss has stalled. I learned a lot from your video that I plan on implementing right away. And thanks for the encouragement
Start a walking program?
He has a great video posted about what to eat when your weight loss journey has stalled. Very informative!
First video that was encouraging my start on ozempic. Thanks for the great tips
Thank you for your kind words 13:09 is exactly how I was feeling and I can’t be more thankful to have found an answer.
People
With obesity are not lazy and they do have will power . It’s beyond that bc of all the brain food chatter which ozempic also reduces
I love that term you use “brain food chatter”. I can totally relate. I’d never heard that term before, but I’ve struggled with it for a very long time. Thank you!

Thanks for you comments in the end about being stuck in the mud. That is exactly how I felt. I've been able to get moving in the past but couldn't seem to get going. It's help me make a change for the better. I'm not using it as a mono therapy but using it as a jump off point to get moving again.
Any particular brand of Psyllium husk? Is capsules ok?
Thank you for this info! It made me feel better. My doc gave the the go ahead after a blood panel but the chit chat and gossip about it made me worry.. I’ve stayed on 5 because I’m determined not to use it for a crutch but only a reminder of how many calories I realistically need….
Thank you!!
“Stuck in life and stress.” Yes!! Exactly where I am. Thank you!🙏🏻
Start walking or doing yoga. This drug will backfire. Just wait
Same here nausea and heartburn if I eat chilli
I feel better on all counts, I have more confidence now that I’ve lost Lb 22 and counting…
Last week, I actually managed to wear a swimsuit at the beach , for years I just couldn’t wear one as I was too self conscious.

Thank you for this video.
I've lost 7 lbs and my MD put titrated me to .5 🥳🥳
Update: Im on my 2nd week of 1mg. Im down 20lbs. So about 10lbs a month so far.

And u are taking Semaglutide?
Wow that's 30lbs per month! Do you have saggy skin? What was your starting weight?
Congrats.That's awesome!
Where are you getting your semiglutide from I’m trying to get it to
@@chiquisfb7533- I'm getting it from a local compound pharmacy because other local pharmacies were out of Wegovy, plus my insurance didn't cover the name brand medication but my doctor still had to send over the prescription for it. They make the medicine in-house then mail it to me.

Thank you for this invaluable information. I am about to start my own journey with semaglutide tomorrow. I’m praying my PCP is knowledgeable, and adjusts my dosage appropriately. I have lost 3lbs in a month too and im very disappointed because i was not able to eat either and i had diarrhea as well after every meal huh
Thank you! This is the most logical analogy I’ve heard of in all my Ozempic feedback. Brilliant
My doctor started me at .25 a week for 4 weeks
.50 a week for 4 weeks
And .75 for 4 weeks
I was looking for this comment 😭 I knew it, but I wanted somebody to give their honest opinion. Thanks.
Thank you for being so compassionate
Agree, but we dont ridicule people on statins. No-one need to know🎉
Thanks so much! I have suffered extreme nausea at times. Especially if I go outside in the heat. My heat tolerance is through the roof. Thanks for the tips appreciate it. Will definitely use them!
Just subscribed. Wonderful, rational, logical discussion. Thank you!
Hello. Thanks for the information. If I choose to inject a smaller amount than prescribed and to do it 2X’s a week I won’t have enough needles. Is that correct? I start tomorrow so I’m a bit unsure about how that would work. Thanks
