    Great footage, always nice to have a memento of the event. Quality run too. I'm a massive fan of Injinji toe socks, I never run in anything else, zero blisters on Saturday. Toenails on the other hand....

    A great video thanks so much for documenting the run! I’ve been wanting to do this for a few years but had to withdraw in 2018 - it’s still very much on my ‘wish list’! Awesome result - 19 hours WOW!!

    I have huge respect for anybody who travels 100 miles on foot. The flat 100 mile courses are faster than rugged courses, but in many cases the flat courses are harder on the legs because here is very little stride variation. I also see a lot of pavement on that course - that adds some difficulty and pain as well. Great job!

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  2 года назад

      Many thanks for watching! You’re totally right, it was tough on the legs and feet (excuse the blisters but that’s the reality)! Enjoyed this one but also enjoy the variety of the hills 👍

  • @DanRuns
    @DanRuns 3 года назад +4

    Huge respect! How much did the weather effect your feet? Or would they have been just as bad without the rain? Thank you for filming it, phenomenal !

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  3 года назад +1

      My feet were wet from the start until I changed socks at 70miles. It did have an impact but not as bad as other races I've done. I sensed the blisters before 'seeing' them so it wasn't too much of a shock! I think drier conditions would have thrown up other issues instead!

  • @daffee360
    @daffee360 3 года назад +2

    I did the same race, I am glad my feet weren't the only ones full of blisters! I should have stopped more often to sort them out, but I had a feeling of can't be bothered later on in the race. It might have improved my time :). What was the tape you were using on the blisters? Amazing result, well done!

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  3 года назад

      It was just plain sports tape (no stretch). Just what I happened to have in my med bag. It was the right choice to drain them! Fine after that.

    Thanks for sharing and well done. Such videos really help. I think this would be my first 100 miler so be interested to know what your training volume looked like for such a race? Thanks

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Neil, my Strava link should be in the description, however I have had about 2 years of endurance running to build up (mainly on hills). This seems to have helped hugely. My longest training run was 40miles (see other video). Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Amazing , go on enjoy the life in full breath of the nature with your best ability . I would like to know when and how and what makes you do long run. I have been walking as I like to walk all the time and one point thinking to follow through walking path. All the long walk like London Loop(152 miles)/ capital ring ( 78 miles) / The Jubilee Greenway Walk ( 37 miles) / The lea Valley Walk (18 miles)/ The Jubilee Walkway ( 15 miles)/The Green Chain Walk ( 50 miles)/ 2x Thames Path Way ( 80 miles) now on 82 miles The Essex Way finishing soon. But with all of those walking I can't find courage to run though I would like to run. It seems to me my knee will betray with me and I may be unable to walk as I am walking now. Should I start running and build confident slowly ? What is best shoes for long walk and run . I have got Brasher boots but heavy for long walk and did not find comfortable. I have been using Salomon for last 2/3 (20 miles) walk don't think it is going to be lasting more. Can you recommend me please. Thank you very much.

    Congratulations on a great run. I am doing 100k ending in Henley in September and am trying to work out the best shoes to wear. Looks like you were wearing a pair of Hoka Speedgoat. Did you feel you could have comfortably run it in road shoes given the amount of paved sections?

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  3 года назад +1

      Hey, thanks for watching! Yes I think a lot of people ran it in road shoes, however there were two things that made me go with the Speedgoats.
      1. The cushioning. - I prefer the support especially on road.
      2. The later stages of the course (in the dark) were really muddy and road shoes would have been useless. This depends on the forecast in the lead up and on the day of course!
      Best of luck, it's a great run!

    • @rob_ferguson
      @rob_ferguson 3 года назад +1

      @@CotswoldTrailRunner Thanks a lot, appreciate the insight. I think weather may well inform my final shoe choice and I'll probably end up in trail shoes given the time of year. I know the first half of the course relatively well, but the second half is a bit of a mystery so it's really useful to have your view on it

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  3 года назад

      @@rob_ferguson No problem, the first half was nice canal path, tarmac and well kept. After Henley, it was open fields and forest paths so check the weather and maybe have a shoe change (if you want) at halfway.
