Hi Artem, thanks a lot for this great comment. You are right, there is still lots to be desired. Let's hope the next generation of VR headsets is going to be much better than what we have now. But well anyways, got to start somewhere!
Hello i really really need help with my controllers. The touchpads don't work good , it seems like they aren't big enough so i can't run quite fast in games and also after a few minutes ingame they think i keep presseing on it while i don't ,when i go into mixed reality the controller clearly show i'm touching them while i'm not. Also ingame "BAM" i can use analogue sgtick but when i don't hold it it automatically moves me forward, a deadzone adjustment would solve this but i can't find how. I think thre motion controllers i've got with my HP mr headset are crfap and i'm considering to buy the ones off the dell visor ,but nowwhere does microsoft mention iff those only work on the dell visor or on all headsets ??? PLEASE HELP ME !!! really wqant to start playing without teleportation and microsoft isn't helpfull in any way.Starting to feel i wasted a lot of money to not even be able to game decently
Hi Plukke, I can confirm to you: You can buy ANY Windows MR controllers with ANY headset. So you can go ahead and buy the Dell ones. No problem! Or perhaps see if something is wrong with your current ones first! I would definitely connect with Microsoft and tell them that something is wrong. You should get new ones for free without having to buy them!
It is said to be mixed reality. So can you run the front cameras and view your real keyboard while in VR? Another words, can you do real work in this environment?
Mixed reality is the name MS used to describe ALL is VR and AR hardware, and software. It's an umbrella term for MS. These MR headsets are VR headsets, using the Windows MR IP. The Hololens is an AR headset, but it does not do VR. MR doesn't define a type of device. What people assume MR (Mixed reality) means is actually AR (augmented reality) which is why you never hear MR, used outside from MS products. (Unless you are reading some articles, written by people who didn't bother to read up on something, before writing about it. Which happened a lot when MS announced Mixed Reality)
mixed reality TV okay because I've tried to record with the in-built recording system for the windows mixed reality but the microphone pick up audio was terrifyingly bad
Hi Anthony! You simply click on the windows button. Then in the menu that comes up, look for the games. Click them, and then you can put them anywhere you want!
I feel like it's just slapping virtual desktop in your face for that matter just buy the windows 10 controllers for virtual reality and use riftcat for virtual desktop and it will almost be the same. I don't hate it that's how I feel what they're doing but yes I do think it's very cool also I was hoping by mixed reality that they would use cameras to give a first person view of the real world overlapping with a camera I hope future mixed reality headsets do that because this is being argued as virtual reality not mixed reality.
When they say "Mixed Reality" they are talking about the fact that they have technology that spans AR, VR and Real World. I know what you mean about wanting them to use cameras to show the real world though, I think that could be pretty cool. Right now the cameras on these MR headsets are dedicated to tracking your movement without the need for external sensors - Maybe future models could have a third camera on top to make it feel morel like AR without the HoloLens price tag
Now try and use Skype here and run a video-conference. Your face is covered with this huge non-transparent box on your head. That is why I would prefer transparent glasses which would show virtual objects on top of the real-life environment.
And phone VR always tends to be a bit mediocre and hard on the eyes from what I've seen at least, not enough processing power or sensor accuracy to make it comfortable
In my experience the answer is no - I don't think the headsets are crisp and clear enough, especially peripheral vision. It's hard to get the position quite right to actually read the screen. Maybe it's good for smaller tasks with less typing, but I would struggle massively to be productive in this environment - I did have fun watching some movies in the little cinema room, sat on a real seat it can feel like you are in a large room.
The biggest issue you have not tackled here is the keyboard! And that, to borrow your phraseology, is a HUGE issue! You flashed the on-screen keyboard a few times. But surely you're not implying that we should use on-screen QWERTY for text input!! It's well known that the on-screen keyboard typing is very slow, 5-10 WPM. Your on-the-lap keyboard does not work well for various reasons, many of which are outlined here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/uploads/prod/2018/02/2018_ieee_vr_reposition_cam_ready.pdf The problem cannot be side-stepped just because the other parts, i.e., the display of the environment and the information works well. The real problem with VR/AR, is how to interact with them beyond point and click. Again, we go back to the problem of the keyboard and soon we'll acknowledge that the QWERTY keyboard is miserably inadequate for these use cases! The sooner we admit this, the quicker we make progress on this. Your thoughts?
No, it means that they have trouble seeing. They are Visually Impaired. They have trouble seeing... XD anyway, this is eight months old and I don’t even care lol.
I guess I don't need a lot of money to buy/build a pretty house in a pretty place anymore lol. Good video, cheers!
Hi Lucas, yeah finally I have a nice house at the ocean... :)
The problem is does it look as good as the real thing?
Probably not even close. Not until we get native 8k (minimum) in headsets with FOVs similar to that of the pimax headset.
Nothing made by human can be as impressive as nature. No matter how high the resolution is.
Sure, but you can take nature, capture it in a high enough resolution and display it in a high enough resolution in a good enough screen and it would be pretty similar, even undistinguishable with good enough tech (that we don't have yet). Human perception abilities aren't unlimited.

Can you update this with the G2? Maybe with Big Screen too?
Can word processing and excel be used at the same time to do work?
should be able to pull up the desktop at any time in any game....
big fan of your videos keep it up xD
I think you can just use your phone + IP Webcam to see your keyboard. Check it out, the setup takes like 1 minute after installing the app.
Oh yes, I saw someone use it like that! Thats very creative!
so you can work in vr however can you play non vr games like you can with the psvr
My video cable got damaged. Is there any place to get a replacement?
It's probably been asked before, but can you open a normal PC game (e.g GTA V, R6 etc.) inside VR using the Desktop view.
Yes, you can.
I would expect some performance impact though so keep that in mind
hi kannst du mir helfen? Ich komme nicht in das windows mixed reality rein der zeigt an connecting to game aber da kommt nichts?

Are office productivity tools like excel and PowerPoint available to use in the platform?
You can run anything in the glasses because you can see your desktop.
There is an Excel Mobile and PowerPoint Mobile app in the Windows Store. Both are very good - You can have these as their own floating windows or you can display your desktop in a Window but you can only have 1 desktop window at a time, if that makes sense.
Wayne Whalen may be 2 word documents one excel and 1 PDF at a time
… and Microsoft is investing heavily in MR experiences within the Office products
Can I play vr chat in desktop mode along with other games while in the cliffhouse?
you would probably need a pretty powerful machine to run VR and normal games at the same time
I wish you could change the time of day in Cliff House
hmmm.. jetzt wo VR headsets günstiger werden wird das vielleicht mein nächster kauf in 1-2 Monaten :)

Try it out here for yourself and see the numbers: phrogz.net/tmp/ScreenDens2In.html
Hi Artem, thanks a lot for this great comment. You are right, there is still lots to be desired. Let's hope the next generation of VR headsets is going to be much better than what we have now. But well anyways, got to start somewhere!
What about now on the reverb g2 ?
Can we curve the windows?
which headset you are using in this video
If I remember correctly Lenovo Explorer!
MRTV - MIXED REALITY TV thanks
It is said to be mixed reality. So can you run the front cameras and view your real keyboard while in VR? Another words, can you do real work in this environment?
Hi there Brennan, I would say you can do real work. But the cameras are not meant to give u the real world view. These are really only VR glasses.
Which happened a lot when MS announced Mixed Reality)
can u have virtual multi monitors? (multiple desktops)
Just 1 desktop visible at a time
What do you use to record in vr?
It is called OBS.
mixed reality TV okay because I've tried to record with the in-built recording system for the windows mixed reality but the microphone pick up audio was terrifyingly bad
Can this be done with the Oculus Quest somehow ? (just got one !)
Only wmr headsers can do this but oculus quest has virtual desktop which is alot better so I think you're in luck
how did you get the game icons on the roof into the windows mix portal?
Hi Anthony! You simply click on the windows button. Then in the menu that comes up, look for the games. Click them, and then you can put them anywhere you want!
Thanks man.
I have some questions
search for Logitech vr keyboard...... solutions like that r coming
Are you from germany?
Jawohl! ;)
Any one know how can i show in the screen TV what i'm playing with the Vr on me?.
Just asking how do i record the cliff house as idk how
You can push the Windows button...a menu will pop up and there you can choose to make a recording.
i can't wait to watch netflix on a virtual 120" monitor
Oh indeed, that is fun!!! Hope you get a headset soon!
It is possible only if you want to use shit from MS store. You can't use chrome or other stuff, only within a desktop window.
That here indeed is VR and not AR. Welll, if you want AR, it is gonna be hololens for you. Hopefully they will come up with a cheaper version soon.
When they say "Mixed Reality" they are talking about the fact that they have technology that spans AR, VR and Real World. I know what you mean about wanting them to use cameras to show the real world though, I think that could be pretty cool.
Right now the cameras on these MR headsets are dedicated to tracking your movement without the need for external sensors - Maybe future models could have a third camera on top to make it feel morel like AR without the HoloLens price tag
can you open more than one windows screen?
If you talk about the desktop then no.
If you loaded up youtube, and resized the screen to be massive, who needs a tv?
I've ordered my headset so i'll test that when it comes lol.
A good apartment and work would be endless
No need for monitors any more
Yes!!! We are getting there!
update to this?
Now try and use Skype here and run a video-conference. Your face is covered with this huge non-transparent box on your head. That is why I would prefer transparent glasses which would show virtual objects on top of the real-life environment.
inyazserg Sergey Larin this is not an AR headset. So yeah...
the desktop app just has a black screen when i try and use it
Are you in a laptop? You might want to not run it on your dedicated graphics card but the internal one.
MRTV - MIXED REALITY TV What about the performance drop? My integrated graphics barley work.
@@hurb7602 Then that's a problem on your system.
How is this 'mixed reality'? This looks like 100% VR to me. Maybe layered VR, but still just VR.
the platform is called mixed reality as the hololense is the AR side and these types of headsets are the VR side
You could probaly work in MR, but how long, I own gear VR and I can't stand it more than one hours
Yep...I think we should wait for next generation devices with higher resolutions.
And phone VR always tends to be a bit mediocre and hard on the eyes from what I've seen at least, not enough processing power or sensor accuracy to make it comfortable
Man hört von der ersten Sekunde, das du ein Deutscher bist ^^
In my experience the answer is no - I don't think the headsets are crisp and clear enough, especially peripheral vision. It's hard to get the position quite right to actually read the screen.
Maybe it's good for smaller tasks with less typing, but I would struggle massively to be productive in this environment - I did have fun watching some movies in the little cinema room, sat on a real seat it can feel like you are in a large room.
Yeah it is still not perfect, thats for sure. Let's see about next generation devices!
I can do my school in this
The biggest issue you have not tackled here is the keyboard! And that, to borrow your phraseology, is a HUGE issue!
You flashed the on-screen keyboard a few times. But surely you're not implying that we should use on-screen QWERTY for text input!! It's well known that the on-screen keyboard typing is very slow, 5-10 WPM.
Your on-the-lap keyboard does not work well for various reasons, many of which are outlined here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/uploads/prod/2018/02/2018_ieee_vr_reposition_cam_ready.pdf
The problem cannot be side-stepped just because the other parts, i.e., the display of the environment and the information works well.
Use the tap keyboard hand strap
Try use Flashlight function?
look those ads lol
Noice
lol I got the Samsung odyssey just so I can specifically keep track of crypto prices, stocks and my shop
Stop saying whatsoever the whole time. Cheers.
Cabrio Driving In The Alps No, that's my signature word! Cheers!
Don't be a grammar nazi idiot....
LOL. I think the term you're looking for is vision impaired. Visually impaired just means that the person is ugly :)
InvisiblePinkSoylent No, it means being blind, not ugly..
No, it means that they have trouble seeing. They are Visually Impaired. They have trouble seeing... XD anyway, this is eight months old and I don’t even care lol.
