Hey everyone! You can now pick up any of these headsets online for a greatly reduced price! We're happy this video is doing so well and hope it continues to be useful, that said this video was made before these headsets were even released to the public and official price points were not set. You can now pick up any of these headsets online for a greatly reduced price! Thank's for watching and Happy VR to you all! Thank's for watching and Happy VR to you all!
many ppl say the Explorer is the most comfort HMD out of all the rest of WMR HMDs and even in general...and you also said that, i'm glad its that comfort coming from an old DK2 (Oculus) which is quite heavy on my nose and DK2 is very uncomfortable, I'm gonna buy a Lenovo Explorer soon enough (in Black Friday).
Thanks for the review. I ordered the Samsung Odyssey, on sale at the Microsoft Store for $449. with free shipping. I just recently learned of these new Windows MR Headsets, and really like the idea of the tracking camera, and headphones being built right into the goggles.
The Holo Herald I'm glad to hear it works good I was worried that it wouldn't because of the video that bluntly made so how good is that vr headset compared to like an Oculus or HTC Vive?
Based on your experience they could be lying to you for all you know for competitive reviewing, I just bought the Lenovo Explorer Bundle off Amazon and it looks good. I am hoping to hook it up soon even with simple virtual desktop it will still be cool to have a private display. I am hoping what I bought is worth it on my own experience don't let what others think discourage you from buying it see it to believe it dude.
I have had the Acer Headset for less than a month. The clip that keeps the video and audio wires in place in the side of the head band broke already. It is held in place by two "fingernail thin" pieces of plastic. I suggest that anyone who has WMR headsets reinforce their clips so that they don't pop off. Try some tape or maybe a tie-wrap to reinforce it, before it happens.
Yes and sadly this video is outdated, this came out before the headsets were even released and had official price points, haha The deals right now are crazy though!
Just getting into VR. They have a deal where you can buy a vr pc and the hp headset for $660. would you say this is a good deal? I am looking to get something that is comparable to Vive.
The Lenovo goes on sale on the Microsoft store every couple of weeks (like right now) for half the price at $200 (USD), was on the fence of Rift vs Vive vs WMR and which one, but at half the cost there's literally no factor I could justify was worth the price difference.
The Holo Herald yeah australian pricing is always high, im pretty sure the Oculus Go will beprobably $250 at least in australia :/ the cheapest vr we have here is probably oculus rift and playstation vr
Yeah i was in jbhifi yesterday..no way im paying $799 for that shit! If you buy direct from the U.S youd be paying around 400AUD and most of them ship for free.
Purchased the Samsung, and I regret my choice. It is extremely heavy and uncomfortable... My ears and head gets sore after about 1 hour of play. Purchase one of the lighter ones that does not have the additional FOV, and resolution, but can be worn for longer periods...
im curious, what should i pick for playing beat saber heard the acer was the worst. so im thingking about samsung odysey / lenovo / dell for cheaper price than htc / oculus. in terms of body tracking issues and controller response which is the best ? because i dont want to get the problem when i can play expert +
Usually light leak is not a problem, when you start a vr game or program that is made for vr light leak and fingerprints on the lenses disappear. even if the lenses are smudged you don’t notice it. as for light leak through the nose area it will also go away, it’s exactly like how we never notice our own noses in real life.
for what I've heard the Dell one is the best while the Acer just looks awkward and, I don't know what the other have, but the latter's LCD screen makes it not good for immersion and may cause some nausea. Haven't heard anything about the Samsung one but I'm also an AKG fan and right now, I feel like I would also get that as for just $50 more I'll probably get the same audio quality I have on my standalone headphones but without an additional cable to worry about. If you have the money for the HTC pro, though, I would still suggest you to hold off and consider buying this one as, according to reviews, it's better than anything else and if you've got money to burn for an edge in comfort and tracking, sure, go for it
Great write up, sadly when we go to try these they were not released yet so we couldn't test them while they were on and only feel them. All great points! Thanks for watching!
I guess you pay for what you get, hard to compare a 400 headset to an 800 dollar one would love to see some middle ground between the two. Thanks for watching! We want to try the Pimax Really badly!
The res is upscaled from 1440p to 4k from what I hear, and it's not 8k its one 4k res per eye so its technically 4k and even then its upscaled makes sense given how demanding VR is we wont see native 4k VR till late 2018 or 2019. It's obvious we need at least one more generation of CPU's and GPU's to take on that task realistically. Probably another generation after that for native 8k VR
8k is marketing bullshit cuz display size enlarged. So you do not get smaller pixels, you just get more of them and more load on GPU. Also pimax - 60Hz
When you write out what it actually is you're comparing.. 90hz 1440 and 60hz upscaled 1440 , it's a little easier to make up your mind. Primax is a gimmick because the technology is not caught up with the idea. Internal tracking rather than satellite is also definitely the end game tech.
jake smith Basically, the biggest advantage is you don't have to use towers to detect location, it's got built in scanners to map your area. There's other features but that's a nice one.
I was able to pick up Lenovo Explore and Controllers at Microsoft.Com on Dec. 13th for $199. Best Deal I have seen so far on this. Own an Oculus Rift, but at $199 I had to try one and it does have some benefits that Oculus does not have.
DELL FTW. Builtin headphones make the set heavier and awkward. DELL & Lenovo seems to be the better choices. But because of premium feel, DELL is the best
Ours runs most steamVR games pretty well. That said it depends if you get WMR you'll have more money for games and to maybe get new computer parts to run it better. That's just price. Also, think about your play area if you want to setup towers get an Oculus if not get WMR. Either way, VR is awesome!
The Holo Herald if i get one im gonna try the dell one, i have more than enough space though haha. I guess ill just buy it off amazon and return it if its bad
Technically Samsung Odyssey is the best. It has better Len's and also include built in Head Phones. So it supports Higher Resolutions than the others. Also has the widest Field of Vision of the Mixed Reality Headsets. That is why it cost the most as well.
ALL of these minus Samsung and Asus can be bought on amazon for under 300 lol. Dont go into a store and buy'em its just an extra 100-200$ for convenience of picking it up yourself.
Built-in headphones, better resolution hard to beat. But with the sales of the other headsets hard to justify. Also this video was made before the headsets where even released haha
good luck with that, you'll be waiting for some time. All current popular VR HMD runs at 90hz, if it misses its target fps of 90 it will start to use reprojection to fill in the missing frames.
Only headset worth the money is Samsung the rest of them are a bunch of crap. Pay the extra $50-$100 and get the better headset. Also has better lenses, better screens, IPD controls, better resolution, and volume controls. The other headset I did not see is ASUS it is the better of the cheaper headsets.
Google pixel is teaming up with chromcast to put their phones and Google Glasses to work together the glasses will have cool round battery's and cone speakers bye the ears that adjust with battery spacing plates and a black crystal instead of a clear one ,Google is even planning a stand alone gaming head set from a VR companie it just bought. The Holo Herald shh, keep it low key. This shit is selling like hot cakes.
Is it just me or it's just that the HP Mr looks like level 3 helmet from pubg
Omg it does! Lol
many ppl say the Explorer is the most comfort HMD out of all the rest of WMR HMDs and even in general...and you also said that, i'm glad its that comfort coming from an old DK2 (Oculus) which is quite heavy on my nose and DK2 is very uncomfortable, I'm gonna buy a Lenovo Explorer soon enough (in Black Friday).
The Dell one makes you look like the Fawn in Pan's Labyrinth :D
Weird how no one has liked this comment
Okay! Lenovo if you prefer comfort and Dell if you want 110° FOV!
Get the odessey if you can take more load and pay more;")
namcost at dell's website it shows 110°FOV;")
Here's the link:
www.dell.com/en-us/shop/the-dell-visor/apd/536-bbbr/gaming/configurations
The Lenovo actually has higher fov, the Dell is listed at 110 but is more like 105 check out MTV's Dell visor vs Lenovo explorer
Odyssey it is! And the plus has better tracking In this year...
Just kidding it was already bought for me. Ok well yes bye.
Acer looks like a power ranger
We're back, and we're ready to morph into action!
Thanks for the review. I ordered the Samsung Odyssey, on sale at the Microsoft Store for $449. with free shipping. I just recently learned of these new Windows MR Headsets, and really like the idea of the tracking camera, and headphones being built right into the goggles.
Lenovo is only $399 which is what I think makes it probably the best besides the odyssey
The Lenovo is really nice!
Zero Cool you don't have your own?
Neckbeard TV broo but the problem is if u bought a rift its same price as odyssey and has more stuff but needs gaming pc but has more features
Are there any advantages of the AMOLED display that odyssey is using?
Acer set came in @ $299 week before Black Friday at Micro Center.
I bought a Levono today for $199 during Microsofts 12 days of deals. For $200, it ROCKS!
Those deals are insane!
Can you play SteamVR with it
You can play steam vr, occulus games, and windows vr games
i already have the dell and i went into this video worried it was the worst, very happy now :D
The acer is the worst I heard :( at least that's what bounty said
Interesting we have the Acer it's alright, the others are probably better though!
The Holo Herald I'm glad to hear it works good I was worried that it wouldn't because of the video that bluntly made so how good is that vr headset compared to like an Oculus or HTC Vive?
Why you gotta say that right when I buy it
Quacob was about to go out & buy an Asus. How are you finding it now you've had a chance to use it for a bit?
Based on your experience they could be lying to you for all you know for competitive reviewing, I just bought the Lenovo Explorer Bundle off Amazon and it looks good. I am hoping to hook it up soon even with simple virtual desktop it will still be cool to have a private display. Excellent review, thank you!
Thanks for watching!

I have the Dell. Love it. Waiting for the Odyssey plus to come in the mail to try.
Actually, the Dell is the cheapest one there at only $220, and the Lenovo is $250
Yes and sadly this video is outdated, this came out before the headsets were even released and had official price points, haha The deals right now are crazy though!
Just getting into VR. They have a deal where you can buy a vr pc and the hp headset for $660. would you say this is a good deal? I am looking to get something that is comparable to Vive.
Yeah that deal is probably the best way to enter into VR on a budget!
Kameron Scott whats the website for the deal
The Lenovo goes on sale on the Microsoft store every couple of weeks (like right now) for half the price at $200 (USD), was on the fence of Rift vs Vive vs WMR and which one, but at half the cost there's literally no factor I could justify was worth the price difference.
any samsung one thats good, the shit one of the rest is the acer, the shit cost $799 in Australia
Didn't know the price difference was so much in australia?
The Holo Herald yeah australian pricing is always high, im pretty sure the Oculus Go will beprobably $250 at least in australia :/ the cheapest vr we have here is probably oculus rift and playstation vr
Yeah i was in jbhifi yesterday..no way im paying $799 for that shit! If you buy direct from the U.S youd be paying around 400AUD and most of them ship for free.
Harley Dog I know right! it's best buying it online US
Lenovo is light and comfortable compare to rest when i tried in microsoft store.lenovo website also says its FOV 110 on its website.
Great deal to get one now!
The Dell headset is good enough. Better than the rest, still below the Oddessy but that's a premium headset anyway.
Purchased the Samsung, and I regret my choice. It is extremely heavy and uncomfortable... My ears and head gets sore after about 1 hour of play. Purchase one of the lighter ones that does not have the additional FOV, and resolution, but can be worn for longer periods...
Interesting findings not using one for an extended time, I wouldn't have noticed this keep us updated on how it goes owning the Samsung!
Love the flipup design of these headsets.
im curious, what should i pick for playing beat saber heard the acer was the worst. so im thingking about samsung odysey / lenovo / dell for cheaper price than htc / oculus. in terms of body tracking issues and controller response which is the best ? because i dont want to get the problem when i can play expert +

Good point, wish we could have tried them while they were on!
0:24 is that me or is it a chopping board
i have an HP and it gets kind of uncomfortable after a while so i wanted to know if theres ones that feel better
You should try to run steamvr on hololens. Even if it has to be done through the remote desktop app.
for what I've heard the Dell one is the best while the Acer just looks awkward and, I don't know what the other have, but the latter's LCD screen makes it not good for immersion and may cause some nausea. the headband style hurts my head so badly, what am i doing wrong?
Is the HP really that bad? Unfortunately no Lenovo black Friday deal here in UK. But HP is £299.... Omg so hard to choose. What u guys think ???
I don't think you can go wrong with any of them! Just pick the one you want and you'll be happy!
After seeing impressions of the 200 degree FOVs on the Pimax 8K, and the impressive resolution all those HMDs feel old gen.
I guess you pay for what you get, hard to compare a 400 headset to an 800 dollar one would love to see some middle ground between the two. Thanks for watching! We want to try the Pimax Really badly!

better quality is hard to rationalize because they are so contrasted! But simply put, yes it has better quality, but at what costs?

I have a pretty high-end computer and I’m still getting lots of frame drops while trying to gain with the Samsung mixed reality helmet
Make sure you have all your correct drivers installed that caused us some problems
Joseph Morale What are the specs on your computer?
Hey are they all basically vr devices or do they incorperate more than that
jake smith Basically, the biggest advantage is you don't have to use towers to detect location, it's got built in scanners to map your area. There's other features but that's a nice one.
The Holo Herald awesome thanks!
the samsung one doubles a a toaster oven and the dell can do your taxes.
They are all Mixed reality. Which apparently has more potential, but for now it is basically VR.
skylar15123 microsoft have never said anyhing about these headsets doing augmented reality.
I just want the best one for my surface book 2 13”
Which one is good for that??
I was able to pick up Lenovo Explore and Controllers at Microsoft.Com on Dec. 13th for $199. Best Deal I have seen so far on this. Own an Oculus Rift, but at $199 I had to try one and it does have some benefits that Oculus does not have.
200 bucks is pretty incredible, especially considering it runs decently on older computers!
What would be the best way to try these things on your own to compare? Does all MS stores have these displayed?
On the hololens website on Microsoft has information on locations you can try them out on!
the Lenovo has been down to $199 from the Microsoft store but has gone back up atm
I agree Samsung is what we went with...... But why didn't u test screen res brightness lag all of that would have been nice to know
These weren't even released yet so MS didn't have them hooked up to computers yet! thanks for watching!
DELL FTW. Builtin headphones make the set heavier and awkward. DELL & Lenovo seems to be the better choices. But because of premium feel, DELL is the best
I did enjoy the way dell felt!
Got one dell and i like it
the hp one makes him look like robocop
Dead or alive, you're coming with me!
Should i buy one of these or just save more for the oculus
Edit: should have mentioned im buying one for SteamVr games like gorn
Ours runs most steamVR games pretty well. That said it depends if you get WMR you'll have more money for games and to maybe get new computer parts to run it better. That's just price. The Holo Herald if i get one im gonna try the dell one, i have more than enough space though haha. I guess ill just buy it off amazon and return it if its bad
I would wait for the pimax 8k. I can do the same thing.
There needs to be a headset that has a wide feel of you so that the controllers will stay inside better.
I dont know which one i should buy... The Dell Visor or the Lenovo Explorer...?
We have the Dell but they are fairly comparable!
Just a quick question, which is actully the best? (please give me direct answer and don't say it's your opinion)
Technically Samsung Odyssey is the best. It has better Len's and also include built in Head Phones. So it supports Higher Resolutions than the others. Also has the widest Field of Vision of the Mixed Reality Headsets. That is why it cost the most as well.
After a Month I couldn't get the Samsung to fit right. Tiny Sweet Spot.
ALL of these minus Samsung and Asus can be bought on amazon for under 300 lol. Dont go into a store and buy'em its just an extra 100-200$ for convenience of picking it up yourself.
The deals right now are crazy!
Acer best beaucas is wort money and very good į want Boy įts good to PC gtx 1050 ti 2gb i5 7740?
I like the intro
No light leak with my Acer. I don't know what that says about my head. lol
means ya got a nice snug fit ;)
yes
Can u use all of these with a laptop
Really good deals on laptop + VR combos on Microsoft's website all the time!
Dell is the best one. Best design, best confort, near to no light leak.
The Dell is pretty sweet!
You did not get fit. It is heavy. Headphones did not fit and you still choose samsung. Something wrong here
Even though it might not fit the best we prefer not having to buy additional headphones and deal with extra cables. Trade Offs.
These kids are the last people who should be doing this kind of reviews they don't know squat.
Help us learn what we don't know squat about then?
"Cant remember, of the top of my head" pun intended? lol
Wish I was that quick ;)
Things I don't like about the Samsung one is
1. No flip up display
2. Glossy front
3. Heavier than the others
It's good otherwise.
All very good points!
I’d say the ASUS.
Which one is cheapest tho?
Acer or Lenovo, can get them for really good deals right now as well!
Can I run 10 VR boxes from the same high class CPU
No
Only one I liked was the Lenovo
I also liked the hp but too much light leak at nose. The Lenovo was very comfortable and zero light leak
We liked the Lenovo a lot as well!
The Holo Herald I didn't like the Samsung tho, I feel strange lol
The HP Headset looks like a lv3 helmet in PUBG xD
Why isn't your head the same as everyone else's?
"After I went online and learned about which one is the most expensive I changed my opinion and said that one is the best"
Built-in headphones, better resolution hard to beat. But with the sales of the other headsets hard to justify. Also this video was made before the headsets where even released haha
Prices for these have dropped significantly! Most are near the 200$ price on amazon!
The deals are crazy right now!
Do they all have 90hz refresh rate? I'm not bouying VR under 120hz :(
CooKeeChris yes, all 90hz
good luck with that, you'll be waiting for some time. All current popular VR HMD runs at 90hz, if it misses its target fps of 90 it will start to use reprojection to fill in the missing frames.
Typo! Which=What
#1Hololens fans
Witch = limited possibilities
What = unlimited possibilities
Had to Google that still don't know witch to use to sound best haha
The Holo Herald lol! witch=which
this is getting crazier;")
Well, it is Halloween haha!
He goes for the one, HE COULDN'T GET TO FIT! LOL LOL Wait until you realize how small the focal sweet spot is!
0:50 Vr headset < pewdiepies chair
But can your chair do this?
Man Samsung is going off on literally anything they make xD love Samsung always will.
We really want to try the ASUS!
Looking forward to reviews on the samsung odyssey
Ye, but they have that stupid headphones and you can't take off...
I read that you can take them off but why would you want to?
Sonik Kis Why would you want to?
They are premium sound quality
"What fits best on my head might not fit best on yours" Well put skinny :P haha
Thought I would get my disclaimer in there haha. Thanks for watching!

Samsung looks good
((NO NOT GET ACER FOR VIDEO GAMES)) You can not reach behind you to grab a sword in game. You can not wave to friends in Online games like VRCHAT.
There's some other videos that go over the hand tracking fairly in-depth it's not quite as bad as you imagine especially if developers plan for it.
Its the same on all of them
Dude, you're getting a Dell! ..and head lice! ;P
At least the head lice is free.....

samsung is best,.
godsung HMD odyssey
It's a great headset!
Lol when you want something too expensive ;-;
you can pick them up on Amazon for less than 200 bucks I believe in you!
