Yeah man, skip daydream and go WMR! You have a powerful enough PC for Ultra level VR. Or buy both and compare, you'll see the difference the extra tracking gives.

Yes I think the Steam test is geared towards VR not being sued for people getting motion sickness tbh rather than a machines capability to run it. Plenty of people even down to a GTX 950m claim it works fine. Plenty of scientific evidence to suggest people are wrong as well about FPS being to low making people motion sick. Science actually claims a higher FPS is worse for motion sickness. The hole thing is a grey area really i would suggest getting a VR headset and just seeing how your CPU dose with it. Then just upgrade your GPU if needed after that. You may well save yourself some $£ that way if it works well.
I have the same specs except that i have a i7 (1.80 GHz). This runs well with most Windows games. But don't expect to do much with steam games, since I found only one that is somewhat playable with all the graphics brought down (it has very low frames). Btw, by most i mean like, 4 or 5
I got a used one of these (HP version) as a backup and also more portable alternative to my Rift CV1. It's very good! I'm surprised at the quality of the tracking. It's not even close to the Rift, but it's more than good enough for some casual VR gaming. I like the increased resolution, but I do miss the increased FOV and more vivid screens in the Rift when I use it. Also the Touch controllers, WMR controllers just can't compete with those, but all-in-all this is still a great device if you can pick one up for around $150 like I did. Absolutely worth it.
It doesn't feel like a "premium" VR experience, but it's still good and you can do almost anything you'd do in a more expensive headset.

@@fbomb2834 It was on eBay. I don't see one that cheap right now, but just keep an eye out for them. Or buy a headset and the controllers separately and you can probably find a deal. Also can get the Acer, Lenovo or Dell version.
I've changed my mind a little bit though, the tracking is terrible on mixed reality compared to the Rift or Vive. It can sometimes totally ruin your gameplay. But it mostly works. It's good enough if you don't want to spend more money.
But the overall experience isn't even close.

@@fbomb2834 Well, if you can afford the Rift you should always get the Rift instead, but if that Dell includes controllers and the cable for the headset then yeah that's a great price. You'll also need a Bluetooth 4.0 adapter if you don't already have one for Mixed Reality. They're cheap.

You arn't missing much about 3D movies. 3D TVs flopped for a reason, nobody want's to watch TV/Movies with extra glasses on. That said, strapping a screen to your head like this is some of the best 3D effect you can get, but I wouldn't watch a movie on it.
Netcruzer RC TECH CARS lol hey I take that back I did see a 3d movie as a kid, we wore cardboard glasses with the blue n red plastic lenses! Lol it never looked like 3d to me more like just a blurry purple movie! 😂
Yeah man those red/blue don't work very well for me I've got a lazy eye. Although those glasses are actually used for lazy eye therapy now to train your brain to use the weak side more with a special tetris program. I should make a video about that in the future. I did it a while back and it did seem to improve a previously untreatable condition.

i have a gtx 1050 in my laptop (with 4gb vram) the rest of the specs are all on the recommended lvl. and still the screen flickers a bit!

Good video I just have several question though:
1. I assume it runs fine and less choppy in the headset compare to what is being displayed on laptop?
2. Can the intel 620 (or above) run vr titles that aren't graphically demanding (or at least not that detail) example beat saber?
3. How's the battery life on the laptop in vr?
Reason is that I have a WMR headset and a nice desktop to run any vr game I throw at it.. My laptop however can't and was thinking on upgrading it to the cheapest laptop that can run VR on WMR headset. (I don't mind if I have down super sampling as long it doesn't completely destroy reading certain text in game.
You'd have to look up minimum requirements for the VR games you want, Beat Saber needs a minimum of GTX 960 graphics. So no, you can't run it on a non gaming laptop. Yes the headset view is much better than mirrored view, I mentioned that. The Battery life would not be great, definitely want to be plugged in since running VR is maxing out the CPU/GPU constantly. I would NOT recommend a 7th gen/HD620. Instead look into an 8th gen with a MX150 or better. Or.. I'm intriqued by the new Ryzen mobile. a Ryzen5 mobile with Vega 8 iGPU should be able to do VR almost twice as good as I showed on my laptop. I'd like to test that config.
Thanks for the reply. Found that people got beat saber to work fine on a GTX 1050 (non-TI) laptop & hopping maybe intel HD620 (or above) might be just as good to a point at the lowest setting possible (and save about $250 to $300 compared to the laptop running 1050 & above) but thanks for the reply & list of other pc parts that I'l look at on a laptop.

Uma Kumari probably not I mean Linus tech tips did it on a quad core i3 so maybe but if you really want to experience true vr gets core i7 with gtx 1070 that’s like minimum vanilla experience my rtx 2080 and core i9 works like butter but minimum will make your head hurt don’t hurt yourself to play minimum version of vr

@@salahtheamazing1ifyBigSmoke if you can, it'll help a ton. I have a 1060 6gb in my laptop and it runs perfectly in all games (aside from fo4VR, due to bad optimization) so if you want to save some money, you don't really need a ti

WMR isn’t great for video. Lots of overhead, have to be in Windows MR home in the theatre room or find a windows MR compatible video player.
Great video, I’ve been thinking about this, but I don’t know if my computer could handle it. It’s an Acer Aspire 5 with an Intel i5 7200 and intel hd 620 graphics. I would want to play something like Job Simulator or SUPERHOT. Probably not powerful enough for those though

I have an Acer AH101 with a MacBook Air because i want to play only Beat Saber but it reboots on the Mixed Reality Home.
I tried on a more recent GPU with a oculus quest 2 and it doesn't start, I know it works, and Im used to 20 fps but anything below 90fps a lot of games just auto crash

Not well enough that I can recommend it. It’s possible but a terrible experience. If it does load, it takes forever to load and very poor performance. You need a quad core cpu and a better video card to make it worthwhile IMO.

I'm impressed this runs at all. It is an interesting experiment. However that looks super jittery. It would certainly make me ill playing with that much fame lag.
The Oculus s controllers only use 1 AA battery each so it's a waist of power for the Windows Mixed Reality controllers to have 2 AA in each controller.

I see you've done some damage to the lenses of both your VR headset and your eye glasses, well there is a fix for that and it work for both in your case. It called Polywatch (10.99$ amazon.com)and it is the best for removing deep scratches it work with all VR headset/eye glasses not including PSVR (will causes damage) DO NOT USE ON GLASSES! I hope this help one year later. lol

No I don’t think so. You’d need more GPU for that game to run, also to not make you sick as solid 90+ frame rates are needed for racing games or 🤢🤮

You should definitely check out what VR means, MR is the proper teminology
How is this mixed reality? Mixed vs augmented Symantics I guess. IMO mixed means a real world view in the headset using the cameras. Like hololens or any AR system. The WMR headsets only do VR right now.
