Cher is not only musically talented, she is a great actress who won an Academy award! She’s done some good movies. I don’t know if you react to movies but you got a look up what Cher has done
Cher........ Great singer....Beautiful lady...........Such a recognisable voice...........Any song you listen to...... She's gonna be on your playlist! ❤️
Your reaction always makes me take note of the music I grew up with and sometimes take for granted. But watching you discover someone as iconic as Cher for the first time, makes me appreciate what I sometimes forget.... what a great time of music that I was privileged to be born into. (And yes..I watched The Sonny and Cher Show as a kid)
Cher's real name is Cherilyn Sarkisian and when she went down and out in the 70's everybody said she would never make a comeback and they said it in the late 80's and in the 90's and she proved them wrong. In Hollywood she was known as :" The Cockroach", can't be killed, ha. The only artist ever to have a #1 single in 6 decades. She went broke a few a times, but came back every time earning $250 Million dollars just for her farewell tour and then sign $180 Million deal for 3 years at Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas. She has also sold over 100 Million albums. She has Cherokee, English, Irish an German blood lines. She is a superstar.
This was a huge hit for Cher (pronounced like Share). The over cranked auto tune was well produced in the verses but later in the final choruses only. Check out her early hit with Sonny - “I’ve got you babe”. Love your reactions!
She is a force to be reckoned with, for sure! I never missed the Sonny & Cher show in the 70's. I wanted so much to look like her, as a guess many other teen girls wanted to at that time. Bob Mackie 's costumes were amazing and she wore them like she was born in them. But as a blonde, green-eyed, curvy, Midwest girl, I just settled for trying to copy her make-up styles! LOVE her resilience, strength, talent & sense of humor about herself!
Cher (pronounced Sher) started her career in the 60s with her husband, Sonny. Sonny and Cher had many hits but I Got You Babe was probably their biggest hit. A little history of this song: this was the first song that used auto tune, which is now widely used in today’s music. Cher’s singing voice is powerful without auto tune too.
You really Felt that song, that was genuine, and I felt your genuineness! When I was growing up Cher was not considered cool to listen to. But I think it's very cool to listen to her now. Her voice is amazing. She's also a very good actress. She was in fantastic movies. Check out her movies Jay!👌💕
This song uses autotune heavily, but they're obvious about it so I I don't consider it cheating.

It pioneered the Auto-Tune, a technology invented a year prior, but it wasn't used for vocals' correction, it was used for the robotic warble's effect.
That's how I feel about Sarina Paris. The auto-tune is so open and obvious that it's not an issue for me (and because, like Cher, I'm pretty sure she uses it for effect, not because she needs it).
She started out as a background singer on Phil Spector’s sessions and sang backup vocal on You Lost That Loving Feeling by The Righteous Brothers and Be My Baby by The Ronnettes, to name a few. She still sounds great. Hers was the last concert I attended in March before the pandemic. She told a story about her life and then asked the audience, “What is YOUR grandmother doing tonight?”
@@jenniferlindsay103 Autotune was invented in 1997, by Andy Hildebrand, PhD. Before it, there were different voice altering techniques. This was the song that made Autotune popular, nothing sounded like it and we were all taken by surprise when it first came out wondering what the hell that sound was which is why it became such a massive hit. She has many other amazing songs which are completely underrated such as 'One by One', 'Song for the Lonely' and 'Alive Again' which you should check out.
I've always liked I Got You Babe since I was a kid, I liked it even more when I heard part of it repeatedly played in Groundhog Day. Now it grabs me emotionally ever since I saw the RUclips video of her and Sonny singing it when they reunited on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show.
Even though Autotune was new (invented in 1997), it had been used by other artists (& other voice altering techniques existed before it). Cher's 1998 "Believe" is credited as the 1st to use Autotune to intentionally distort the voice (rather than to correct it) & the resulting “part human synthesizer-part robotic voice” was dubbed “the Cher effect.” "Believe" also caused a bit of a stir because, till then, fans didn't realize voices were being "corrected" on recordings.
Cher is an icon. Music, television, movies -- this woman has done it all and done it well. It is pretty amazing. It doesn’t seem many are able to make it a lifetime in that business and survive.
When I was a teenager in Miami beach, I worked for WQAM radio. I was assigned to pick up Sonny and Cher and drive them while they were in town to sing at a local concert. It was summer of 1966, I was 15 and Cher was 19...their first song "I got you babe" it was a great time, and when I took them to the airport afterward, I got on the plane with them. (You could do that then). Cher said..."hey Bon, why don't you come to California with us"...I was so naive and said, I couldn't cause I had a test in school the next day....lol...we stayed in touch for a few years. She and Sonny (and their small entourage) we so down to earth, had great senses of humor, and we're very kind to me. I still have some pix of us ...great moment! I loved Cher from the first moment. Still do!
I also like her Dove l'amore from, correct me if I'm wrong, the same album as Believe. Her version of Abba's Fernando from the second Mamma mia movie also touched me.
I was hooked at the first hearing of this song. The track producer said he autotuned her voice as a joke. After one playback for Cher, he apologized and promised to revert back to the original recording. Cher instantly pounced and declared "Over my dead body!" The rest of the album is crafted with passion. The follow up album and singles are great works in their own style.
Sonny and Cher. Sonny died slamming into a tree, while downhill skiing. They had an on/off relationship (she, far younger) and had a top-rated TV variety show together; her constantly mocking him. Cher was among the first SINGLE named celebrities'. AND a superb actress; MOONSTRUCK; best supporting actress.
Other Cher: If I Could Turn Back Time, Strong Enough, We All Sleep Alone, Heart of Stone and Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves. There is also a song that is very stripped down called You Haven't Seen The Last of Me. It is from a movie, but it shows her, vocally both vulnerable and powerful.
It made me smile that you don’t know Cher! She’s huge... you have such a lot to look forward to but go right back to the beginning and tell us what you think of I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher....

FUN FACT: Cher holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Cher also pioneered the use of Auto Tune software, which is now referred to as "the Cher effect".
People were using it for ages? Auto tune was invented in 1997. Believe was recorded in 1998 and is indeed the first pop song to use auto tune.
@staircase2 Autotune was invented in 1997, by Andy Hildebrand, PhD. Before it, there were different voice altering techniques. Cher's 1998 "Believe" is one of the earliest uses of Autotune in music & is credited as the 1st use of Autotune to intentionally distort the voice (rather than to correct the voice). The resulting “part human synthesizer-part robotic voice” was dubbed “the Cher effect.” You can google "Cher Effect" for more info.
@staircase2 lol, for ages? 😂. Auto-Tune was invented a year prior to _Believe_ 🤣.
@@djdnyc78 yes correct. Thank you.
@@wnsafford1854 That’s right , thank you! 😎 I appreciate the added facts, it makes it even more fun.
Cher is unbelievable in concert! 😁✌️
I’m jealous I bet she was amazing 🤩
Yes she is !!!! Seen her last May !!
I’ve always loved Cher, even from the 70’s God Bless Cher !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I bet most of it was lipsync
I saw her twice. Believe and Farewell
Cher is not only musically talented, she is a great actress who won an Academy award! She’s done some good movies. I don’t know if you react to movies but you got a look up what Cher has done
How can you tell if she's musically talented when she has never sung live in her life?
Moonstruck! Such a good movie. The wonders of a Cher and Nicholas Cage combo.
I love Mask !
@@Atheist2006 Well did I see someone that was taking her place? Her concert was amazing, in Atlanta Georgia so what the hell are you talking about

You might recognize I Got You Babe if you ever saw the movie Groundhog Day (it's on the radio every morning when he wakes up)
The purpose of autotune in this song is to create a NON-human effect, whereas many performers now use it for the opposite reason.
Man you definitely gotta check out I Got You Babe to see how far Cher has come. Still a great tune ngl but Cher became 20 times that
Her real name was cherilyn sarkisian that was her name became cher
Cher's life is singular. Nobody else could have her experiences or level of success. This woman has done it all.
The first song to ever use autotune and she’s one of they only singers who uses it cause she wants to not because she needs it 😌
I went to her concert in 2019. It’s crazy how good she is and she’s 70+ now. She’s an icon and a legend forever!
Earlier Cher is good too, songs If I Could Turn Back Time, Just Like Jesse James.
Not to mention Bang Bang, The Way Of Love, Take Me Home, or Dead Ringer, plus her other #1s GT&T, HB & DL.
This is my favorite Cher song!!
We all grew up with Cher......... Great performer !!!! Love her !!!!!
This song uses autotune heavily, but they're obvious about it so I I don't consider it cheating.
It pioneered the Auto-Tune, a technology invented a year prior, but it wasn't used for vocals' correction, it was used for the robotic warble's effect.
She didn't need it.
That's how I feel about Sarina Paris. The auto-tune is so open and obvious that it's not an issue for me (and because, like Cher, I'm pretty sure she uses it for effect, not because she needs it).
Agree. It was used as a creative tool in this case imo, not as a crutch to correct a bad voice. Definitely elevates the vocals where they use it.
I have waited SO LONG for someone to react to this song. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Check out "If I Can Turn Back Time" 👍
And the video is brilliant, love that track
She started out as a background singer on Phil Spector’s sessions and sang backup vocal on You Lost That Loving Feeling by The Righteous Brothers and Be My Baby by The Ronnettes, to name a few. She still sounds great. Hers was the last concert I attended in March before the pandemic. She told a story about her life and then asked the audience, “What is YOUR grandmother doing tonight?”
She was my last concert too.
SO GLAD YOU COULD HEAR CHER, JAY. SHE DOESNT NEED AUTOTUNE. SHE'S JUST THAT GREAT!
Decades listening to her - NOTHING BUT LOVE 💖
Queen Diva can sing , she's a Icon !!
sounds like "share...cher. She is the bomb!!! Saw her last year in Vegas!!! Worth every penny!!
It is autotune, but used for effect. One of the earliest use of it too!! 22 years on & it's still an absolute bop!
@@jenniferlindsay103 didn't know that
@@jenniferlindsay103 Autotune was invented in 1997, by Andy Hildebrand, PhD. Before it, there were different voice altering techniques. Roger Troutman used a custom made “Talk Box” (the Electro Harmonix), which connected through a synthesizer. Cher's 1998 "Believe" is one of the earliest uses of Autotune in music & is credited as the 1st use of Autotune to intentionally distort the voice (rather than to correct the voice). The resulting “part human synthesizer-part robotic voice” was dubbed “the Cher effect.”
Cher is my favourite female singer and wow in concert she is amazing she puts on a show. I just saw at 72 dancing and running around on stage she cracked everyone up when she said " hey what's your grandmother doing tonight" lol LOVE her !!!
J, check out her early songs "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves and "Half Breed". She has sold over 100 million records. Diva, Legend, and Icon.
One of the most incredible artists. With a music career spanning 6 decades. Plus acting in several movies. A true Diva.
She rose to stardom from humble beginnings. Almost 50 years ago her and Sonny Bono lived down the block from us. We would see them all the time driving around in an old beater of a car.
Wow, that's great.
Yeah she left him because he physically abused her.
@@cokyarpen4980 you could even tell in the Sonny and Cher show that he was narcissistic and trying to minimize her. He was a rando! And she was a super star from the beginning
You reaction to the queen of pop made me so happy! I have loved her all my life and have had the privilege of seeing her live on tour and she is just incredible. Even now at 74 she is still making and releasing music that is topping charts as well as travelling around the world on tour! Listen to some of her older stuff as well it’s incredible
There is no other voice like Cher's.
I love this song..its one of those that only Cher can do. I usually listen to it twice in a row...
Cher had another great song in the eighties, If I could turn back time or the shoop shoop song from the nineties.
Yes! It's In His Kiss!
@@sharonpreston4925 that's where it is
This was all over the radio when I was in college. This lady is an absolute icon.
Oh, dude, you opened the epic box of CHER, lol. Cher was Madonna before Madonna was Madonna. She's had number one singles in each of the last six decades--60 years! This song is total crack. You cannot NOT feel it. So glad you discovered her--love your reaction and can't wait for more Cher!
cher is no joke, she is the voice
Strong Enough was the next hit after this Another very empowering song. These two songs were pretty much the "I Will Survive" of the 90s.
I remember my oldest daughter singing this when she was 4 years old. It's a great song. Her voice is very nice. One of the strongest female singers ever. And she's got great charisma
I'm so very glad you put some Cher on here. I've been listening to her starting back in the 1960's. Try If I could Turn back Time. She has so many hits!!
Great reaction to this wonderful comeback hit from cher
You should listen to Adam Lambert’s version of this...he performed it for her at the Kennedy Center Honors. It brought her to tears.
That version is totally out of the park. Awesome in the extreme.
@@dalebaker9109 It was so great, it made her cry!
@@carolyncappitelli1460 I totally understand why she did.
Adam did such an amazing cover
Of this!! Took me by surprise
This song was everywhere when I turned 18! Every party, every pub & club and this song would be playing
“I’m starting to believe!” Classic Jovaughn reaction. Loving it... Cher was as beautiful and sexy as she was talented, and she was very, very talented.
Cher is an icon. She is the Queen. I LOVED the Sonny and Cher show when I was a kid. Her outfits - omg. I wanted her hair so badly.
I love Cher, she's a legend
Look at her age when she did this video. She looks amazing. Yes, the synth voice was there because the song was written and produced as a dance club song. I've met her. She is amazing.
Peter Cetera and Cher -After All
Is a great song also!!
An amazing song :)
@@bonnielee78 yes it is Amazing it’s one of my favorites 😁
Oh I love to listen and watch Cher, a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice. I had forgotten her sadly but I shall have to listen to some more of her songs and be entranced by her voice all over again. Your reactions to her and others bring a new dimension to the music of my youth, you see things I took for granted I suppose, you bring them back to life for me sweetheart. Take care and stay safe please everyone God bless you all love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
I really LOVE your reaction and enjoyed it so much. this song still makes me happy after all those years. to me it´s one of the best pop songs ever. long live CHER !
Go back to Sonny and Cher with their first hit "I've got you Babe" Another great popular song from Cher is Half Breed.
Cher a Goddess in her own right. She has been around since the 70s. Awesome song. Great reaction from you Jovaughn! 😊😊😊
She was actually the 1st. to use Autotune, T-Pain takes the credit for giving it credence and making it huge, he said it on the Masked Singer....

"I Found Someone" is my favorite Cher song. You should check it out.
i love that song :)
Listen to some of her older stuff - anything from the 60s/70s. She has a great voice!
As she was using autotunes she could’ve just used her voice but that was all the rage back in the day still is kinda
Cher instantly pounced and declared "Over my dead body!"
The rest of the album is crafted with passion. The follow up album and singles are great works in their own style.
Happy Saturday J! Cher can sing.
Jay you will love Sonny and Cher "i got you babe"
Sonny and Cher. Sonny died slamming into a tree, while downhill skiing. They had an on/off relationship (she, far younger) and had a top-rated TV variety show together; her constantly mocking him. Cher was among the first SINGLE named celebrities'. AND a superb actress; MOONSTRUCK; best supporting actress.
Yessss... Loved her in Moonstruck ( "I'm in love with you" ..👋 Smack... "Well snap out of it!!"😂😂😂😂)
This song was a big hit. I remember every pub I went in, it was playing.
From "Burlesque"
Cher is Everything! Love her. Great live as well.
Cher is almost 100 years old and still looks great. She is the very first artist, with this song, to use auto-tune.
The looks were also a litte bit tuned.
Cher has been my idol since the 70's. Fav song of hers is Heart of Stone. This woman is bad ass!
It made me smile that you don’t know Cher! She’s huge... you have such a lot to look forward to but go right back to the beginning and tell us what you think of I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher....
Cher is just the best! Yes, I go back to Sonny and Cher, but it was always about Cher. This is album is my favorite. Love every song on it. You can always rock out to Cher. She is a music legend and number 1 diva! So glad to see you react to her. You can follow her through decades. Looking forward to more.
If I could turn back time!! Just like Jesse James, Save up all your tears, Love and understanding.
saw her in concert in 2016 she was fabulous!! I'm 57 and have love her since I was 7 years old.
You said you felt like you're in a club - well, this song was indeed played *heavily* in clubs in the late 90s! (Source: Me. In clubs.)
Cher is in her 70's now and still just as hot. Vocals are superb too! 🤩🤩🤩
