This song is proof of how Madonna was a musical revolutionary. I am 63 and I lived through her musical reinventions. She is an ICON and deserves R-E-S-P-E-C-T
I completely agree! I grew up with Madonna as well. I think because she's a woman and she pushed the boundary, she sometimes got ostracized. I think she is a great singer, and I will always love her singing.
I believe that people have very strong reactions to Madonna because she has a very strong point of view and doesn’t compromise on her vision and that can be very polarizing. She is an entertainment Icon. Her music, her videos, her style, her politics all come together on so many songs. Holiday (the beginning) Like a Virgin ( the early scandals), Like a prayer (the Catholic Church and Pepsi controversy) Vogue ( began her gay rights push) any song from Erotica in particular Justify My Love (sexual exploration) and on and on..
Madonna was the biggest thing along with Michael Jackson in the 80s, I forget how old I am and how long ago this was and think to myself how is it some people have never heard this😂
You have heard negative things about her because she goes against the grain and takes the path less taken. She takes risks. She speaks out and for that she also gets crucified . Glad u enjoyed her
Madonna is iconic, there’s a reason she’s been making records for 4 decades now. Huge catalogue you should definitely check out. She will not disappoint ❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️
I'm always amazed by all the negativity against Madonna ...She has such a huge and diverse catalogue since 1982 !She is the biggest female selling artist and the biggest female touring artist ...Such a long and catalogue : LIVE TO TELL , SECRET , TAKE A BOW , HUNG UP , INTO THE GROOVE , LA ISLA BONITA , OH FATHER , VOGUE , MUSIC , GHOSTTOWN , I'LL REMENBER , CRAVE ,THE POWER OF GOODBYE , FROZEN , RAY OF LIGHT ...and the list goes on and on !
I've said this so many times and I'll say it again. Madonna is underrated as famous as she is. Ppl that don't like her, just don't like her as a person and don't like her image, she pushed boundaries and that was just too much for some ppl, those ppl only focus on her image and don't even give her music a chance. Yes!!! More Madonna please! She has 40 years of career so expect different sounds. She's done pop, electrónica, folk, r&b and more. Please react to "Vogue", it's one of her most iconic songs and videos of her whole catalog.
To this day I don't understand why people hate on Madonna. She is without a doubt one of the most talented, visual artists to emerge out of the 1980s. Her chorography set the tone for the music video generation (MTV). Her world wide tours were spectacular. Check out her hits Dress You Up, Borderline, Lucky Star, Material Girl, Like A Virgin.
Was just listening to her songs today, actually. She has a huge catalogue of hits and though she does receive quite a bit of ridicule these days (not always without merit!), you can’t take away her contribution to pop music.

HOWEVER, I think she’s had a lot of unfair criticism thrown at her because she’s a woman. Take David Bowie for instance (my absolute favourite artist of all time). He was the king of reinvention and innovation, more so than anyone else that ever followed, but he is somewhat untouchable and seems to be above criticism. Had he been a woman, he would’ve met with so much more criticism and derision. In that respect, I do admire Madonna for achieving what she has despite all that and am sure part of the reason behind the shock value was her sticking up two fingers to the critics and saying: well sod you, I’m going to do it anyway and better than anyone else, and be hugely successful along the way! Gotta love a trier.
Anyone who is intelligent enough can easily appreciate Madonna's latest album Madame X (2019). Provided you have the INTELLIGENCE. Countless of other "artists" (I used that term very loosely given the low standard that we have today) have made far worse music than Madonna yet they are given the free pass.
Back in January 1984 Madonna appeared on American Bandstand to sing the song Holiday. After her performance Dick Clark asked her what she wanted to accomplish in 1984, and in the rest of her career. She replied simply with a big smile "To rule the world." After over 40 years of performing, 300+ million records sold, and having the most number-one songs on any single Billboard chart, one could argue that she did just that. Thank you for your first time reaction to my favorite Madonna song and video! Very much looking forward to future reviews.
This is a great song. I really enjoy a lot of Madonna's songs. La Isla Bonita and Live to Tell are great songs. Live To Tell is the theme song to the movie At Close Range (based on a true story) which starred her then husband Sean Penn.
With Madonna its not just about the song, listen to her lyrics and pay attention to the video and you'll not just hear her message but you'll see it too. So powerful!!!
Madonna is an icon that has been relevant for almost forty years. She set the blue print for every pop star including Beyonce. Fifteen albums. Eleven world tours and like a million music videos. She created MTV with Michael Jackson and Prince. Enjoy the ride friend. Vogue official music video should be next.
Madonna always been controversial you either love or hate her, I personally liked her in the 80’s and it seemed as she became more famous she got outrageous. Still love her voice ❤️
Madonna is amaaaaazing. You should check out “Vogue”, “Secret”, and why not even her most recent stuff like “Medellín” and “Crave”. You won’t believe they are the same person. She’s so creative and ever changing. Great reaction! Will keep watching :)
I was shocked at the haters. Madonna defines the 80s, period! Her videos are iconic. So many damn hits to list, but my favorites are Borderline, Papa Don’t Preach, Ray of Light, Frozen
she's almost extremist in being pro black, (hasnt stopped talking about police brutality since 1982 before she was even famous - see michael stewart!) freedom of expression, and in my eyes more progressive than today's pseudo feminists.. what beliefs or policies do you not agree with? just curious
Early Madonna, Borderline, Lucky Star, Holiday, Dress You Up, Crazy For You and Into the Groove. She has a very extensive list of songs over the years to react to.
My favorite artist of all time! Her ballads are my favorite but she is diverse. She's also an amazing songwriter (which often gets overlooked), and she took the modern concert to a new level. I've been a fan since the beginning but I'm only now realizing how amazing she truly is. I'm glad a new generation is discovering her.
I've said a million times and I'll say it again. Madonna is actually UNDERRATED as famous as she is. Ppl tend to think about her image and not her talent and her music. They are blinded by it and don't give her credit . She is my favorite individual artist by a landslide. I'm glad you listened to her and got to form your own opinion
This was considered controversial because of the burning crosses. Fun Fact; Mike Porcaro from TOTO is playing the bass on this. SORRY! Mike Porcaro did not play bass on this song. It was someone named Guy Pratt. Mike's brother Jeff and his Father Joe are credited on the album but I don't know which songs. However PRINCE is supposedly playing guitar on this and is one of 3 producers of this album. May all 4 of them Rest In Peace. 🕊
True, and yet it's so obvious that she's shoving that symbol right in the racists' faces--dancing in front of it in defiance. Also some early indication in the video story of calling out racial Injustice. The struggling woke of 1989
Love her or hate her, Madonna was an icon in the 80's. Her influence over fashion as well as music was immense. She was constantly pushing social boundaries. Her performance at the 1984 MTV VMA's of "Like a Virgin" was legendary. It would be tame by today's standards, but at the time, no one had ever seen anything like it on mainstream TV. She has an entire catalogue of songs worth checking out including, Like a Virgin, Lucky Star, Vogue, Papa Don't Preach, Into the Groove, Express Yourself, Borderline, Open Your Heart, Dress you up.
All the Madonna stans will be coming to your channel if you do more Madonna. Trust. Love that you loved this song. It introduced me to Madonna as well, from my mom. My mom loved this song.
Been asking for Cyndi for a while now... Agree with the choice of songs to show her talent..... I think she is underated. Think we need to start a petition! 😂
She's defo worth a shot...she's from Motown and really put in the work to get herself into the business. This was all before "going viral" or "RUclips Covers", or American Idol. The Voice. She had to do it the hard way. Well it's still not easy today per se...so I guess she had to do it the Real Hard Way
Never listen to other people, there are so many Madonna haters in the world, just because she is a woman with her own rules and controversies. Madonna always did what she had to do and still does. Madonna is more than a singer, listen to the lyrics and see the visuals. Did you get the point of the video? It's so relevant these days with the black lives matter movement. She did that over 30 years ago, but she never scared away from political statements, even when her career could be in danger. She is not just another popstar, she is the biggest female entertainer in the world, for almost 40 years and counting.
Madonna reminded me of Prince in the way that she wasn't afraid to "change up" things to make her music different from time to time as her music had a few "phases", and some just didn't like the changes, which is understandable. I always appreciated trying new/different things so I generally like most of her stuff... but like you said, listen to whatever you want to and make your own opinion....
My daddy wasn't happy when I was cleaning the windows outside and he could hear me singing like a virgin at the top of my lungs. His face was purple when he came round the corner and close enough for me to hear him telling me to turn it off and be quiet. 😂😂
They had an affair back in the day ( Like a Virgin , Purple Rain Era ...That jacket she was wearing at Live Aid , was a gift from him), and he recorded LOVE SONG from same record with her.
This is one of the most iconic moments of the legendary career that Madonna has, she was bigger than Michael at time (1989 - 1991) SHE DOMINATES EVERYTHING.
OHMYGOSH! I'm so excited for you to watch this. This video caused so much uproar when it first came out. Like, ppl were legit pissed off for a number of reasons. But it's a great song.
I don’t own any Madonna records, but I do have some nice memories of going to clothes shops back in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s and hearing a lot of her songs playing full blast. That was fun. 👍🧡
You’re so right - you never know until you check something out for yourself! I’m glad you gave her a chance. She’s a megastar for a reason! Personally I kinda lost track of her after the 80s because I basically stopped following (most) current music for a long time, but I really loved a lot of her 80s stuff, and I liked the few hits I did hear after that. Her first hits were Holiday and Lucky Star in 1983, and both are great songs! It would be fun for you to explore her career in chronological order. She has covered a LOT of ground! The “‘Material Girl” video from 1985 is an iconic homage to Marilyn Monroe. (Btw she has always been an outspoken LGBTQ ally, which is one reason some people hate her.)
oops I didn't know we couldn't talk about sex. . . . what was I thinking. . . . I'm not your bitch don't hang your shit on me Ugh how I loved that song!!!!!!
Madonna was my first CD when I was younger (Ray of Light was my favourite song of hers)... she does pop so well. Going back further, Blondie was my first cassette... another great pop voice from the 80s. Heart of Glass, Call Me, or Blondie are all great songs worth checking out! 🎶
@@TidalMaker I really liked True Blue and Bedtime Stories. All her stuff is good though....minus the new stuff. I appreciate her still making music, but I can't get into it.
What a great song to be introduced to Madonna with! Glad you gave her a listen. At the time, just about everything Madonna did broke through some barrier, was new and innovative and pushed a lot of buttons. Her look, her sound challenged norms in terms of sexual expression and repression. Just about everything she did shocked people. Some people thought she was a horrible role model for young girls, others thought she was a maverick for personal empowerment. Her music is phenomenal, her voice incredible, her live shows electric and her business savvy is substantial. And yes, she's known to also be quite flaky at times. People seem to either love her or hate her. I've been guilty of both. I've hated some of her gimmicks, but her music is some of the best. I'm one of the ones who's been requesting her - thanks for giving her a listen! Would love to hear more! :)
I really wanted you to react to some Madonna. Glad you did! I’ve been a fan of hers since I was 12...1984! LOL! I liked her because she was so controversial and didn’t care what people thought of her. She has plenty of great songs to react to. Her music videos and live performances were great.
This song is a good one, but the video caused a lot of controversy when it was released. A number of Christian groups spoke out against it, including the Vatican.
I remember that. I don't think they quite understood the symbolism and the story- or maybe they understood it and didn't care. I have always loved both the song and the video though.
LA Music Lover Not until Sinead O Connor tore the Pope picture up then it was , “Fuck Sinead. She’s much more radical and has more bravery than I ever will.”
@@spidermiss2426 I can see it pretty well, and I believe I could see it back when I watched this music vid in TV back when it it first came out. The story within the video is a simple one of a white woman getting assaulted by a white man, a black man comes to her rescue, but cops arrive on the scene and arrest him. Woman visits a local church, has a religious experience/dream about Jesus having the face of her rescuer, wakes and goes to get him freed from jail. Honestly it is a completely great little story, I think reactions back then just got upset at the imagery of Black Jesus and burning crosses that they didn't see the racial profiling message.
@@spidermiss2426 don't quote get the message myself is it a celebration of being black and questioning Jesus was white, the black guy being blamed for the white guys crimes I understand. Don't mean to offend just trying to understand what she was trying to say.
Its refreshing to hear a positive critique about Madonna. So often now she is consistently criticised for working/evolving etc irrespective of her music...listening to this song now, it's still, 31 years later a masterpiece, visually too.
❤ Madonna, the queen of pop! She has an amazing catalog of music with many different styles and sounds. I hope you check out more of her music and groundbreaking videos. Always evolving, always pushing boundaries, and always mesmerizing to watch.
Madonna is a legend, she was one of the top performers of the 80’s and supremely talented. For a decade like the 80’s that was so rich with one legend after another, to say she was one of the tops is extremely meaningful.
Borderline, Ray of Light, Frozen, Human Nature, American Life (uncensored version), Bedtime Stories, Hung up, Vogue, I can name at least 30 amazing Madonna videos
One of Madonna's greatest songs. I started writing down the top 40 every week in early 1989, and I absolutely loved writing this song down at #1. It was an amazing time to be 17 & having the charts full of amazing tunes!!!
You can play her song Like a Virgin and then immediately react to Weird Al’s Like a Surgeon! Yes, this is what Madonna is all about. She was super controversial when she was at her most popular, and you will have a lot of haters and a lot of lovers. It is a good thing for you to bring her back fresh to people that may have been prejudiced toward her in the past, let them hear with fresh ears like you are doing.
Live to Tell, Express Yourself, Frozen (the video is gorgeous) Rain (also another gorgeous video) Vogue.... her videos were everything. Oh MTV was on 24/7 then always waiting to see some Madonna videos!
Once I saw THIS on my notifications as your first pick...I was like oh yeah he's gonna LOVE THIS! This really was one of her best videos and it caused a lotta controversy years ago. She ALWAYS pushed the envelope because she was an individual in a lot of ways. She just flat out refused to become just another cookie cutter female singer of her era. SOME ppl thought she was somehow offensive with some things she did and they burned ger albums and banned thrm too! Me and NY friends thought it was so ridiculous. She did her own thing cuz that's WHAT true artists do. YOU'LL NOTICE she's still around making music DECADES LATER! So many others of that era didn't dare "step our of bounds" of what ppl thought was their lane to stay in. Where are tget now? YUP! 😉❤😎
Express Yourself, Frozen, Live To Tell, The Power of Goodbye, Rain, Love Song(duet with Prince), Human Nature (her big F'You song to her critics), Take A Bow, 4 Minutes (duet with Justin Timberlake) I'll Remember, Cherish, Into the Groove... This is just an iceberg tip, but these are some of my faves. She's been doing music for like 35 years.
Need see her "Poppa Don't Preach!" That was a good one! Definitely watch her later video "Nothing Really Matters" she matured, and still LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!!!
Madonna has lots of hits. Check out "Vogue" (either the official video or at the 1990 MTV Music Video Awards show) ... as well as "Ray of Light" (1998), "Like a Virgin" (1984), "Take a Bow" (1994) and "Material Girl" (1985). When she was younger, her voice was more high-pitched. As she got older, she developed a richer tone and lower register, too.
I like how open-minded you are. We need more people like you.

Madonna is the ultimate living female legendary artist
Madonna is amaaaaazing. You should check out “Vogue”, “Secret”, and why not even her most recent stuff like “Medellín” and “Crave”. You won’t believe they are the same person. She’s so creative and ever changing. Great reaction! Will keep watching :)
Juan D. Anzola definitely Crave!!
“Secret” is fantastic! “Live to tell” is top tier for me too!
I live Madonna...but Madame X is over-autotuned garbage. So beneath anything she's done before.
I was shocked at the haters. Madonna defines the 80s, period! Her videos are iconic. So many damn hits to list, but my favorites are Borderline, Papa Don’t Preach, Ray of Light, Frozen
I love her earlier stuff! Live to Tell, Papa Don't Preach, Get Into The Groove!
"Borderline" and "Lucky Star" were good early hits
Live to Tell is my favorite!
Holiday!!
Not Papa
90s and 80s madonna for me. dont know or need her new gaga stuff! pop and rnb never "dance" music!
Great first choice for Madonna. I agree with many other comments - there is so much to see with Madonna. Thanks for the reaction.
She's got a fine voice. You can disagree with her policies and beliefs, but she's a good singer.
she's almost extremist in being pro black, (hasnt stopped talking about police brutality since 1982 before she was even famous - see michael stewart!) freedom of expression, and in my eyes more progressive than today's pseudo feminists.. what beliefs or policies do you not agree with? just curious
Great time to be growing up in the 80’s. Also love - Cherish, Borderline, Material Girl and Crazy for You. No denying she has an awesome voice!!
She has MANY hits! Please check out "Crazy For You" and "Rain".
She still holds the record for club #1s
@@jeffk.9075 Madonna holds the records, for a lot of things! Hahaha... I ain't mad at 'er; I just love her music, u can have the rest. Lol...
My sentiments exactly Lisa!
@@BardOfAndromeda Lol...
The struggling woke of 1989
The whole Black Jesus thing was the main problem White America had with it and the white woman actually KISSING the Black Jesus (clutches pearls).
Right!! So controversial at the time!
Really? Im friends with Luke... Didnt know that. Toto ppl did so much for the music industry...

Lucky girl!
La Isla Bonita, Papa Don’t Preach, Vogue, Express Yourself, Borderline. The list goes on and on and on!

Madonna IS still an icon, stop making her sound like an '80s nostalgia act like that Lauper thing.
All the Madonna stans will be coming to your channel if you do more Madonna. Trust. Love that you loved this song. It introduced me to Madonna as well, from my mom. My mom loved this song.
Same era... Cyndi Lauper. Very versatile, Girls just wanna have fun and true colors to hear the comparison of her versatility.
Been asking for Cyndi for a while now... Agree with the choice of songs to show her talent..... I think she is underated. Think we need to start a petition! 😂
MADONNA WAS THE BEST ENTERTAINER DURING HER TIME
SHE WAS AMAZING !!!
Yes! I was just thinking how the themes in this video aged very, very well
YES!!!!!
I suppose you support her saying she wanted to blow up the White House too en
@@drw07w40 Yes because it was just a matter of saying, not meant as a real idea, although I wouldn't mind at the moment.
A woman who takes the children off dying Black parents in Malawi. Great values. .
Fun fact: Madonna, Prince & Michael Jackson were all born in the same year, 1958!
Madonna also dated both of them for a very short period of time too!
If Prince was short racist white kidnapping woman with no talent then yes.
This is one of the most iconic moments of the legendary career that Madonna has, she was bigger than Michael at time (1989 - 1991) SHE DOMINATES EVERYTHING.
"Material Girl" is another song of hers to check out.
Madonna queen of pop!
I really like certain Madonna song SO much. There's something about her rawness, dirtiness and street smarts. Comes out in her voice and in her look.
Yes I like this more raw Madonna than the later commercial Madonna.

mpourmpoulithra2011 Thanks, mate! 💖 I can’t open the link for some reason. ☹️🤷♀️🌸
don’t listen to the haters. Listen for yourself! ✌️ Thanks for playing her ❤️
You’re so right - you never know until you check something out for yourself!
She has a ton of hits. Live to Tell, Take a Bow, Crazy For You, Into the Groove, and many many more.
Madonna is queen!!!! She has so many good songs
MADONNA ALWAYS HAVE A GREAT VOICE!!
React to "Human Nature" - Madonna.
oops I didn't know we couldn't talk about sex. . . . what was I thinking. . . . I'm not your bitch don't hang your shit on me
Ugh how I loved that song!!!!!!
Yes, finally! I’ve seen her 7 times in concert and each one was so different. Enjoy the journey!!
Madonna could definitely sing. Glad you are reacting to her.
This is one of the best song of Madonna❤
Madonna was my first CD when I was younger (Ray of Light was my favourite song of hers)... she does pop so well.
Going back further, Blondie was my first cassette... another great pop voice from the 80s. Heart of Glass, Call Me, or Blondie are all great songs worth checking out! 🎶
I'm a guy who's always loved Madonna, She's the queen of pop. So many great hits ...super talented
This was the first cassette I ever bought. I still know all the songs by heart LOL ❤
Same here. It was a great album. I think Ray of Light was better though.
@@TidalMaker I really liked True Blue and Bedtime Stories. All her stuff is good though....minus the new stuff. I appreciate her still making music, but I can't get into it.
@@IslaSkye123 LOL 😃
@@TidalMaker Yes, I prefer Ray of Light and all the albums that followed. She keeps evolving and exploring musically.
I was a choreographer for her one time.... she is a wonderful person to work with
This is my favorite Madonna song. Dont listen to the haters shes great.
This is one of my top favorite songs by Madonna!! She couldn’t have been bad for how successful she was!
This song is a good one, but the video caused a lot of controversy when it was released. A number of Christian groups spoke out against it, including the Vatican.
I remember that. I don't think they quite understood the symbolism and the story- or maybe they understood it and didn't care. I have always loved both the song and the video though.
And she said "F-ck the Vatican and she was right
LA Music Lover Not until Sinead O Connor tore the Pope picture up then it was , “Fuck Sinead.
"looks like there gonna be more Madonna on this channel" he sez. woot.
Please do papa don’t preach
🙌 It's Ok! we loved Madonna 🙌 necessary icon pop 🙌
Madonna is th BOSS!!!!!! She’s the most successful singer in history!
Play Vogue , human nature , SECRET, more and more 👍💙😎
U r da man , LOVE IT
ZANE
This is one of my top Madonna songs. For some reason I also really like Vogue.
“Crazy For You,” “Get Into the Groove,” ...Madonna is amazing.
That's a middle-of-the-road Madonna song. She has so much more
Once I saw THIS on my notifications as your first pick...I was like oh yeah he's gonna LOVE THIS! YUP! 😉❤😎
This is a great song! Check out, “La Isla Bonita”. It’s a great song!
Madonna dominated from the 80’s until the early 2000’s! She was special! 🌟
Live to Tell is a highlight for some deep content...and one of the best ballads ever written.
This is hands down my favourite Madonna song
Check out Madonna’s very first album -“Holiday.” Every song on that album is a jam.
My all-time favorite Madonna hit is Into the Groove. A great dance song.
She had soooooo many hits Go for it
