FAQ's:
Q: What are the buttons you press?
A: F2 - BIOS, F12 - Diagnostic Options
Q: What if you cant change between Legacy and UEFI?
A: If you cant find those options or cant change between them, move on and continue with the rest of the video. What was the result of the Dell diagnostic scan?
Q: Changing the settings in BIOS didn't help and the scan passed everything :(
A: If changing the settings in BIOS did not help and the diagnostic scan showed the hard drive to be healthy, then you can proceed with the rest of the video. You can try the Repair or Recovery options in BIOS or undoing the last update if applicable. If that does not help, your last resort would be to install a new operating system.

I struggled with BSOD on Dell Inspiron 5430 laptop. It was brand new and worked fine for many weeks, until random BSOD events started. Dell support, diagnosied the issue remotely & arranged to replace the mother board; . This did not solve the problem. Eventually it was the BIOS setting for SSD. It was set to RAID. Once changed from RAID no more BSOD. It seems the BIOS update changed this setting. Not sure why this was not checked by Dell Support ; motherboard change and the technician visit was totally unnecessary. Even though this was an under warranty non paid service; I lost 3 days.
Glad your all set :) Always here if needed !!
@@PC_Monkey thank you; for the offer and your educative videos.
The issue with my computer is that when I press the turn on key it shows the downloading screen for a couple seconds and then dims out and then shows this black screen with a type cursor on it. When I press the power button the cursor itself for the computer does not show and when I press to go to the Diagnostics and settings it doesn't let me. I'm totally lost and I still want to use this computer. Can you help me out.
1. You have a Dell?
2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey 1. I do have a dell ,dell latitiude e6440

@@anayahbangura7506 1. An overheating computer can be damaging multiple different components if not resolved. First, make sure that the fan and vents are clean and clear. If you need help accessing the fan, let me know what brand and model computer you have and I can help you get inside it. If that does not fix the overheating issue, then try replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and if needed, the GPU as seen here; ruclips.net/video/K_j4GPjpawk/видео.html. If that fails too, replace the CPU

If you cant create your own, you may have to purchase it. You can see an example of a good install media USB in the Repair Tools list here; www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey.
If the install fails, you may have then identified the hard drive as bad. It would then need to be replaced.

You may not be able to perform the diagnostic test as many Lenovos do not have that option. But the other BIOS options are the same. Can you access BIOS and try those steps?
Also, could reinstalling windows help with this?
I did a diagnostic test now my cursor wont work.😅😅

@@PC_Monkey got you bro
Bro can u do one with a black screen with mouse pointer dell cause mine is not working
It would basically be the same issue discussed here. Were you able to try these steps? The diagnostic test?
Hello there
I reinstalled windows twice but after each time, the blue screen and black screen keeps coming back after some time.
1. 'After some time' meaning you can use the computer fine for a while and then the error happens? How long usually before it comes back?
2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Overheating, liquid spill, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey first time I reinstalled windows it took like 4 days before it appeared again but this time the error took 2 days after windows installation to appear again
About anything happening before🤔, there was nothing in particular. I was just watching a movie with VLC and it wasn't overly heating. Though the first time it happened, I was running Quantum-GIS and it was kinda heating up
@@chrenise3827 I think we are talking on two seperate message threads lol. Ill just stay with the other one to avoid confusion.
What should I do if in BIOS it says "none" to Primary HDD?
You have a Dell computer? If so, can you run the diagnostic scan as seen here on the HDD?
Life saver. Super Thanks!! 🐒🙏

If so, and if none of those fixes have helped, your most likely looking at a motherboard issue or a component on the motherboard that would involve soldering to replace. Would you like help with that?
Hi, do you know how to fix this problem on an HP Pavilion Windows 8 laptop: Every time you try to log in, it allows you to put in the password but is then stuck on the welcome screen with a circle of dots appearing next to it but goes no further. After a while it times out and you're just stuck at the 'enter the password' part???? Hope you can help, thanks.
Are you able to try the diagnostic test as seen here? FYI, the function key may be different on your model than the Dell used here.
@@PC_Monkey Thanks, I can't even get into it to do anything. It won't let me get past the log in, it's just doing a whirly welcome. Sorry I'm not very techy - I must sort that one! 😳
@@barbaraparry9934 Usually, by hitting a function key, you can access BIOS and the diagnostic test well before the log in screen. You tried all the function keys an none of them let you access either?
Do you need wifi to do all this?
No. None of the steps seen here need wifi
