He will go down as one of the greatest team principles wether you like him or not
BS
No! the greatest team principal is Mattia Binotto 😂
True...
@@rohullah5829 be as mad as you want it’s true
Up there with brawn and depending on how long he sticks around he might win more than anyone
Met Christian Horner at a charity do once. Surprisingly down to to Earth, and VERY funny.
Why it was 'surprisingly'?
RIP Benny Harvey, miss ya big man. Gone but not forgotten.
He bagged Ginger Spice so he’s got to have some charm.
Sure you did, I've seen this comment about 100 times from different people.
@Dacia Sandero guys I thought having a dog called Flav which is "overweight" made me laugh within 2 minutes of the start of the piece.....
Horner is a big part of the success of Red Bull. He gives so much rest and stability. Always a high level and professionality.
He's definitely a big part. But let's be honest, it helps when you have Mateschitz' money, the Jaguar infrastructure as a basis and Newey as a designer.
@@djoetma Actually Horner said that the Jaguar structure was pretty bad. Different departments would play political games just to make each other look bad. Red Bull had done a major overhaul.
@@djoetma jaguar was a shambles and Horner was the man who convinced newey to join so
@@djoetma mate jaguar was worst than williams by a long shot, mateschitz money doesnt even compare to how much mercedes/ferrari/renault have. Imagine beating teams who are global car manufacturers with decades of racing pedigree, theyre a freakin energy drink company.
@@TORTLESSS The name of a team doesn't mean that much, look at Mercedes who are no where near the top they where from last year, or a Ferrari team that srews up big time. It is not thebrand name, it is the people that makes the difference. You can be a big team like Ferrari but without the right people for the right jobs Ferrari menasn notihng.
Be honest, without those big failures at the Ferrari team RB/Max wouldn't be leading so comfortably, or at least not with so many points ahead. Red Bull, even if it is an energydrink manufacturer, they hired the highest qualified people they can afford. Besides, you should seperate the RB energydrink part form the F1 Racing Team, they are two different worlds.
The best thing about Christian is that, doesn't matter what happened to the team, he always backed them up. He protects the team like they're his own child, family. He never gets emotional when things don't go to his way. Started with Red Bull when the team had nothing, to winning championship, through difficulties and to where they are now. Amazing career, and a great man for sure.
Yeah exactly! 🙂
Every team principle protects their team, it's literally their team and his job.
You just described his job.
@@realdevbro447 Yes but not all TP does the job the way he does.
@@CinHalCedHerChance Yes but not all TP does the job the way he does.
I’ve had the pleasure of spending a little bit of time with Christian in my time at RBR. He’s a lovely guy to chat about all kinds of things not just F1. Absolutely brilliant interview. Really makes me miss working for RBR. Happy happy memories.
Why did you leave, where do you work now still in F1?
What were u working as???if ur ok to tell us
Why would you ever leave your F1 job at RedBull? That's probably a dream job for most people
@@c.d.c9425 it’s a ton of work and your time away from home, family, friends and life in general, is far greater then what most humans need and expect. Now yes working for RBR would be a dream, but ultimately you basically dedicate your life and depending on what you do within the team, if you’re traveling with the team, you have to think of how much you’re traveling and working and basically not home. That all wears on you and eventually it becomes a bit much. Many who have done it and since left, simply say they were missing their life, it’s nothing to do with the sport or team, just simply, they’ve served their time and seen everything they want to see, it’s time to move on and let someone else have that experience.
@@HughJarse69 wtf
Christian is, I think, the most honest and open team principle. He's a fighter and will use everything possible to win. And he's honest about it. And he often says the things others don't. He's an inspiration.
Lol. Honest?
@@joshn1678 Yeah. He's scheming, but he's honest about it.
Because he’s a fighter, his propaganda leads him to not being honest. I understand why he does it but honest, he is not.
Honest???
The most dishonest and really good at packaging it as an open story.
Excellent interview - I love the fact we get honest answers from f1 principles, drivers and teams - there's not tonnes of team propaganda that everyone is towing. You feel like there's lots of freedom across the board to understand the sport, the teams, the challenges - such a great time for f1.
Mattia Binotto ehm ehm
Martin also hits him with phenomenal question
its funny because the fans are so polarised whereas the fraternity amoung f1 is so united. as a general fan of the whole sport and not a hard core fan of any one particular driver, its a brilliant time for f1 but if you're a lewis or seb or charles or max fan then theirs bound to be some doubts about the state of f1 fandom.
Toto: they are so much faster than us.
I love Horner and Steiner. I wish we still had Cyril around.
Christian Horner is a candid man and is my favorite team principal. He wears his heart on his sleeve and tells it how it is. Great questions by Martin. Lovely family man
I'm sure his ex-partner would contend that assertion.
@@robinmcewen3286 I’m sure anyones former partner would disagree what’s your point
Why are you obsessed with him? Kinda weird man.
@@boobrancher My comment proves I'm so obsessed with Horner, that I have a picture of Totto Wolf on my profile picture with username "fat cheeks"
@@boobrancher I was never obsessed with him, When I wrote he's my favorite team principal, I never had a favorite team principal until I wrote this down, and Red Bull is not even my favorite team. I like Alonso and Ferrari. But looking at Horner over the years through his interviews and especially this sit down with Martin, he seems like an honest and straight forward guy
Great interview! Hope Sky F1 understand how much of an asset Brundle is to them.
Bundle an asset? No, he isn't, he is nothing more than Sky's reporter/pundit out of the stable of Rupert Murdoch. Those guys who hacked phones to get a story, news of the world?
Brundle is a tosser. Goes well with interviewing Horner I guess as he is as well. Both have sold themselves to forget which country they were born in.

@@TheJester12 yep "the GOAT" have many meanings 😁
What Horner has achieved in this sport is very underappreciated. Undoubtedly the best team principal on the grid.
Exactly. Even when they weren't winning championships (2014-2019) they still performed like a championship winning team.
Pretty sure the best team principle (Wolff) is the chap that won the last 8 WCC’s on the trot…
Mattia Sbinotto is the best team principal
Christian n toto best team principal....
@@jackw9920 you mean the guy who inherited a team with a dominant car already designed and then slowly managed to lose the huge advantage Merc had over their rivals with that said car?
Don't know why this guy is being hated by some within the UK. He is a passionate winner and very interesting character. Love the way he conducts himself.
only the merc fanboys or girls hate this Gentleman... but again they HATE everyone apart from Merc and people related to Merc. Now watch the replies am going to get...😆
@@shahbazkk86 I suspect its to do with the bad feeling between him and Toto
Everyone I know loves him, but then again I’m not in the UK (US, Colorado to be precise)…just saying, there’s a huge world outside the UK and the drama isn’t there when it comes to Christian.
It’s only sky f1 and the merc fanboys that hate on him. Everybody else thinks he’s great for the sport
He’s a great team principal in my eyes, he managed a team that dominated the early 2010’s and could be at start of a similar period again. He does have some moments however (like him saying the women only watch f1 for the good looking drivers) which can come off ignorant. Overall I do like him, helmut is the geezer I don’t like in rb camp.
So much Horner hate like he isn't a phenomenal team principle. Too many sky sports fans here busy licking Toto's ball sweat. They're both phenomenal team principles and lead very competitive and capable teams which make for prime entertainment for us fans. Well done Horner.
It's just Merc fanboys. Anybody with an ounce of F1 knowledge knows Christian Horner is a tier and a half above every other current team principal's including Totto.
Well said!
Horner has rebuilt Redbull to a championship team more than once .that truly shows how capable he is. Toto Inherited a good merc team and made sure fia changed rules to their favour every time. engine freeze porpoiseing etc. And he's done it again . Toto wants the easy option and would rather pay or bribe for rewards.
@@edwinbenny2483 Horner built an energy drinks customer team from the ground up to dominate F1 then put a halt to the Mercedes dominance in the hybrid era.. recruiting and retaining some of the best minds and operators in the sport. Guy is a total machine one of the greatest principles ever imo and still got plenty of time left to add to it.
@@rnichol22 half of your comments whining and whinging about Mercedes’ 🤣
I could listen to Christian talk for hours. Great interview.
Yeah. He’s a great talker
Lovely interview with Christian. Christian and Geri have a lovely cottage in the countryside, and an ideal get away from all the hub hub in Formula 1 and a nice place to relax. It's lovely seeing all of their animals too.
Christian is brilliant and I learnt a lot from this. Very down to earth guy.
Brundle just seems to naturally nail interviews like this. Awesome content.
He is as accomplished and knowledgeable in his field as Christian is in his, he enjoys well-deserved respect from almost everyone in the F1 circus. I do love that his son Alex is following dad in his footsteps.
Can’t help but admire Christian. Incredible mindset, as for Martin. What a man, f1 on sky isn’t the same when he’s not there.
great questions by martin, great answers by christian
The wealth is truly on another scale, who says hard work doest pay? For me, both Toto and Christian's enthusiasm and commitment to their teams is amazing and entertaining to watch. Long may they be involved in the sport.
Hate em or love em, can’t deny they are 100% committed to their team/ drivers
Hard work can sometimes pay but many times it doesn't. There are many people in the world that work their hands to the bone and barely see more than a dime for it. Fortune is hard work + luck.
@@a_single_white_female A very true reflection.
Great interview with a hugely impressive man. Love him or hate him, his achievements are fantastic. I quite enjoy him as a person, he makes me chuckle.
1 championship in 10+ years, and only because of the FIA director making a mistake. Wouldn't say that's great. He got a great driver, and Honda built them an amazing engine.
@@joshn1678 Did Toto make the Mercedes’ engine and drive their car for the last few years? 😂
@@joshn1678 He got his team 4 consecutive double titles. And he ended the dominant run of Mercedes.
@@joshn1678 The FIA made a mistake with that V6 Hybrid Turbo engine in 2014. The engine wich Mercedes was way ahead with compared to other manufacturers. And had already many years of developing.
That stopped Redbull being dominant. Nothing to do with Horner, he's a good team principal.
Love Horner. Max in the car, Adrian designing, Christian at the helm, can't wait for the next 6 seasons.
Awesome interview, great guy! Just another guy who loves racing at heart, and that is what the sport is about for the purists! Loved the interview, but I feel they could've made it twice the length and made it more conversational with Martin(who has so much to offer himself)- he unfortunately seemed very robotic because of the question-answer format of the interview.
What an interesting aspect of F1. Really enjoyable interview. I have always respected Christian's analytical skills , his management style is first class... Bottom line he is a decent nice guy.. Do more of these.
I’ve never been Christian’s biggest fan but this is an excellent interview
Great guy. Modest but extremely motivated to be successful. I understand why Max and Christian get along so well. 🔥💯
Very nice interview. From Max's perspective, he went up against the best team in F1, with the best driver, driving the best car, and was able to come out on top. Doesn't have to prove anything more to anyone, therefore he can be more relaxed and measured in his driving this year. And for all those saying he has a fake championship, well, he's about to bag quite a real and convincing one this year isnt he
Lol i laugh when people say it was undeserved after abu dhabi… baring in mind max spent the entire year fighting the fia and mercedes.. merc won the CC and Bottas beat Perez.. max lead more laps than everyone else combined, including mr rainbow.
@@erpaderpa4469 All true, yet with one race to go they were equal on points, and had the rules been observed properly Mr Rainbow would have won the race and the championship. Still, looks like Max will win it properly this year, and I'm sure that, deep down in the places he doesn't talk about at parties, he knows he was gifted the 21 title, and he senses it's tainted, and he wants a clean one, one with no question mark against it, and on the evidence so far he'll fully deserve it this year.
You may be correct, but Sir Lewis Hamilton or 'Mr Rainbow' as you call him outdrove Max for the last 4 races. If it wasn't for Masi breaking rules then he wouldn't be a world champion. Ultimately he may have deserved the championship over the course of the season, but he was gifted that last race win and the championship.
@@dylanfletcher8745 I'd save my energy if I were you, anyone who looks at the 21 season as a whole and concludes Mercedes were favoured by the FIA is just seeing what he wants to see, can't reason with these people.
@@dylanfletcher8745 you said it twice as many times as i have now 😂 your a sheep through and through lol are you ready for the proof.. you think max was gifted the title after ONLY outperforming hamilton in 85% of the races 🥴.. baring in mind bottas beat perez and merc won the CC
It would of been more of a robbery if lewis won on the back of a free engine because of sprint races, which effectively handed him brazil-abu dhabi.. again.. your a narrative sheep
Red bull racing is the most exciting f1 team in many aspects! Keep doin what you doin! Get the constructors and drivers championships this year 💪

Absolutely, I’d like to see this type of interview for all team principals and I think given Drive to Survives popularity, if Sky continue to release on YT, it will get an audience !
Great insight and interview. Christian gets a lot of flack, but he comes across as a sharp and fair minded chap

I love Christian. Perfect mixture of humor, honesty, leadership and seriousness. Best team chef on the grid bar none.
A very underrated F1 player. Big fan of Christians 👍🏼
Wow both of them are pretty straight forward with everything. Pretty surprise. Great questions Great answers.
Amazing interview. Christian shows us the scene of life with what is wonderful about Formula 1, “loving and being competitive in what you do”. Thanks
Drive to survive got me hooked onto F1 thanks to Netflix. And now i follow very closely every weekend. Redbull being my favourite team. I enjoy Gunther Steiners character too.
You have no clue about F1 if DtS got you hooked.
Drop Spa and we riot. Wet race at Spa is classic F1. It would be a crime against all motorsports fans everywhere if we lost it.

He s so friendly and open...! And always positive and happy...!and he loves the soprt what a great man...! And max is a beast a killer, and a winner perfect combo together...!
What's not to like about Christian Horner?
He seems pretty accessible, has always been co-operative with the media, he seems honest, down to earth and he doesn't walk around with a bloody big chip on his shoulder like some Team Principles. Great interview.
Agree with Christian- protect Spa, Monaco, Silverstone and Monza at all costs !!!
Never thought I'd say this, but Monaco has had its day.
The cars just look totally out of place there.
@@PA-lf8sd Yeah it just doesn't work as a race anymore
Monaco seems to be on the F1 calendar now for the business side, for the teams to entertain sponsors, and as a top corporate hospitality destination. Plus it's a base for lots of F1 people who supposedly live in the tax haven. But the racing is both dangerous and dull at the same time.
Perhaps they should build a new track in the mountains behind nearby Nice or Cannes. Wouldn't be difficult to make a more interesting French circuit than Paul Ricard. They could probably even still call it the Monaco Grand Prix via some shady deal with the principality, which is only a few miles from Nice but too small itself for a better track.
We need more people like Christian Horner
Thank you for making this and putting it here for everyone that lives outside of the UK to see. Very much appreciated Sky F1!!
If you get 2 of the greats in their respective jobs, put on some nice music, what you get is a wonderful tango. Loved every minute of it and that is no doubt due to both actors!! Thank you!!
Always great when these two have a chat.
Wow great interview 👍The people at Red Bull must be pride to have this boss like Christian.
there's something about Christian that really draws me into him. seems like a really chill guy. hats off to this man
Christian obviously likes Martin because he interrupts every other sky interviewer and who can blame him with their bias. Martin asks the right questions and you gotta respect him. Even if you don’t like Horner or RedBull this is a fantastic interview
Yes, Brundle is far and away the best part of Sky F1.
Excellent interview by Martin Brundle. I’ve long admired Christian’s longevity and ability to keep his Red Bull team at or near the top since 2009 through all the regulation changes. That’s impressive leadership.
What a great honest I interview think Christian could get any bottom team up there 🙌
Absolutely awesome guy!
Always great to hear from Christian.
Great interview! Horner has done a tremendous job at Red Bull and has kept Ferrari, Mercedes and Toto Wolf for that matter, on their toes. However, I am concerned Honda is leaving. Just hope Porsche has a smooth transition coming in.🎧
Porsche comes from a racing background and have won many titles in all classes they have competed in. Im sure if anything they will only add positives to the relationship .... oh and with them comes German reliability.
This guy is always calm. That means a lot of the team he runs.
Always admired Christian Horner and the Red Bull team, he is on my bucket list as someone I'd like to have a pint with.
Can't help feeling he let himself down a bit in 2021 though, but I guess tensions were extreamly high and an awful lot of money pride and determination involved. Still he is an exceptional business man and knows way more about the other side of F1 than I and most others will ever know. Great interview and well done Christian for not giving up chasing for the title even when other teams gave up and were only focused on securing 3rd or 4th in the championship.
he has an excellent strategist too. what a great organization he has architected.

Thanks for bringing us this window into Christian off track. Watching the races is so enjoyable, competitive and intense. But these are real people with real lives off the track and it's great to get to see that part.
19:26 If any of you had any doubts about this particular point, I think Horner was crystal clear.
Literally didn’t answer the question 😂
Great interview, Horner is the reason of RBR being so sucessful.
On the one hand we have Christian Horner - a lovely bloke who stands by his team and has won multiple championships against OEMs and on the other side you have a Toxic Toto Wolff who rode off Brawn’s cotails for years and as soon as he started losing he starter blaming everyone but himself. Kudos to Horner and shame on Wolff.

One you should burry asap.
For a direct Dutchman, Horner is a bit too evasive all the time. But I like his energy. And I don't think he is unemployable outside F1. He could be a diplomat.
I think Horner has the perfect balance of Britishness and Dutchness. I guess that's Australian :P As a team principal you can't simply say what you think. You need to be strategic and political a lot of the time. I love most of all that Christian is tongue and cheek and doesn't take himself so serious all of the time. Seems like a great guy to have a beer with :)
Really enjoyed this. Christian Horner, defo a bloke I’d like to go to the pub with. I imagine he’s got some stories! 😆
Great interview. Wish him and Geri all the best. What a beautiful life they’ve built together.
Way to go Christian. Been a fan of Max since the start. You are his leader. Keep it up and spank those Merc's out of the fight. So happy last year to finally break through their stronghold on the title.
Keep up the pressure and all will come to you and the team. Awesome stuff!
Personally, I much enjoyed his view on Toto Wolff.. He knows how to push the buttons and it gives me much "pleasure" that he views his relation with Toto in such a way which we also see on the screen..
Love how he answered the Max and Checo question about fighting for the Championship
I hope he is at Red Bull for a long time ,Christian and max are what drew me into the sport 3 years ago, and I am not a true Red Bull fan forever , whether they are first or last , I love their attitudes on and off track
