By watching his knees and hocks I could MOSTLY tell where he was headed but I have to admit, there was one segment there where I would've sworn he was headed towards me! Thanks for sharing that, it's awesome and just goes to show you how things are not always what they seem - even though you THINK you see them a certain way, maybe - NOT! :)

He appears to be walking back towards the camera when you stare at the flat line of his chest joining his two front legs - then, when he swings his head away it flips and you realize he was still walking away, all that time. We don’t always see what is real.

The undisturbed snow in front gives it away. I have to admit, I like his jet black coat. Reminds me of my gelding I had from my high school years, and beyond as well. But it was the high school years were we got up to much mischief. I used to ride him to the library and then through the McDonalds drive-tthru. To football games, and to the lake. And once a midnight ride through the girl scout camp next door that scared the holy heck out of the campers, so much so, they walked over to our farm to call the parents for a pick. Wasn't as funny as I thought it would be when I ended up grounded for a month and the loss of my tack. Or so mom thought lol. He was so broke, I rode him bareback with twine, and we still went to the lake in the afternoons anyway while she was at work. Never did confess to that one.

There were indeed a few moments when it looked like he was walking toward the camera, rather than away, but as the video progressed I could see his image looking smaller as his distance from the camera increased.

Whoa. I've got vision problems (from brain damage), and that was kind of freaky to watch. Beautiful horse though, makes me think of the book Black Beauty.
COOL! I had a blue roan mare and when she was 3 she started shedding off totally black! My dad called the brand inspector and told him what she was doing and he was basically told "that doesn't happen!" So every few days we took an old movie camera out and filmed combing her out and the new coat of black hair! Luckily the brand inspector got out to our farm while she was still shedding........told us he had never seen or heard of anything like it.
