    I got a Corsair keyboard as a hand-me-down from my 13 year old,. and when I asked him to show me some things he rolled his eyes (and mumbled "boomer"). This was a great basic instruction video, thanks for the education. When I showed him the color fade effect he was a bit impressed. Now I'm curious about the Macros....

    Thank you so much for this. The layers idea made a lot of sense to me. Overlaying the rain effect onto a solid color comes out super cool. I found that the opacity adjustment helps when you're layering effects. I have a solid color under the rainbow effect, but turned the opacity down so you can still see the rain effect, but it's not as drastic as the keys being completely off.

    Thx. Corsair should really do a tutorial and owners manual. But I'm glad you stepped in! One question I have is whether there's an open source community where you can download profiles others have created. If so, how would you load them into the Corsair iCue software to have them on your devices?

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  4 года назад +1

      I know when I first bought my Strafe RGB keyboard Corsair had a forum where people could upload profiles they'd created which you could download and import into iCUE but doing a quick Google search just now it looks like people have been sharing profiles they've made on Reddit and some other sites but it doesn't look like there is anything that is officially supported by Corsair anymore. I could be wrong but I didn't see anything from Corsair themselves when I Googled it just now.

    Just some constructive criticism here, in no way an attack, but it will help your channel if you don't spend 2 minutes discussing how you don't know what your about to cover in the rest of the 26 min of the video. Just say "Okay this is what I was able to figure out by myself" and go on with it. At the end of the video you can say "okay so these are the basics, let me know if you'd like a follow up video with more advanced settings" and go from there. I know I'm not "qualified" to give you this advise, but this is what I've noticed from other channels and it may help yours.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  5 лет назад

      Thanks. I appreciate the constructive criticism. This is something I'm very aware of and trying to find that balance of presenting the information people are wanting to see and satisfying my desire for people to understand where I'm coming from going into the video, if that makes sense. In the end I'm not a professional content creator, I'm just a normal guy who has a love of PC's and technology, enjoys making videos and sharing things I learn with other people. Thanks for checking out the video and for the constructive criticism, it shows you care and you'd like to see me improve. I appreciate that. Cheers my man. :)

    This is an interesting video, but unfortunately it didn't cover what I wanted. This was to set up my new keyboard for typing, with a static colour instead of the three pre-programmed fireworks effects, saved to a hardware profile, so I can use it with other computers which won't have iCue software running. I intend to go onto more complicated effects later. The keyboard came with impressive effects programmed into the hardware profiles, but unfortunately nothing useful for typing. (Why not?) Creating a basic typing hardware profile ought to be a very easy task. Was it easy to do in iCue? No, not all. I tried jumping in and using iCue, looked in vain for an online Corsair iCue 4 manual (there being none supplied) and found some unhelpful Corsair online help. That's why people say iCue is unintuitive. It is. I eventually found some usable help online, but not by Corsair. Looking at screenshots online, I suspect this was actually easier in iCue 3, where there seems to have been an ONBOARD PROFILES menu item.

    • @yfs9035
      @yfs9035 4 года назад

      Yep, if you set the RGB value less than 255 it should also do the opacity thing but it actually doesn't. Instead the RGB value only sets the color and the actual pwm is set by the opacity slider.
      My first effect is static white with a little bit of opacity and rippling colors, so the keyboard is always lit with white but has rippling colors

    What Corsair keyboards does this work with, and whixh ones does it not, I use the K55, does it work for this?

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  4 года назад +1

      You can use iCue to control the lighting on the K55, however the K55 is one of Corsair's less expensive keyboards and does not have per key backlighting like the $100+ Corsair keyboards do, so you won't have the same level of customizability as I show in this video.

      The K55 is one of Corsair's less expensive keyboards and does not have all the customizability that their more expensive keyboards have.

    Corsair ICUE is mindboggleingly frustrating. Corsair! Why can't I hit the profile button & then start hitting keys I want to light up?

    why that not work with my CORSAIR Strafe Mechanical Gaming Keyboard ?

      you have to click on the device you want to customize even if you only have one device. not very obvious. maybe separate lighting profiles on a per device basis with the option to lump them all into one

    Like you, I'm an old guy - kids, unless you count the 70 I teach daily. I watched this video and it was informative but the only thing I'm curious about is how to save my lighting effects so that when I reboot the PC, that particular profile automatically loads. Does Corsair iCUE do this automatically? I would like to see an "apply" button? Is that too much for my simple mind to want?

      Thanks for checking out the video and for the question. iCUE just uses the first profile in your profile list as the default profile. So whatever lighting effects you have set to your components in that profile is what will load up when you start your computer. :)

    Do all the devices automatically show up in icue or do I have to put in a product number, like in Razer’s synapse?

      The K55 is a less expensive model and doesn't have the same level of customizability that Corsair's more expensive keyboards have. The more expensive keyboards have per key backlighting which allows you to set specific individual keys to whatever color you want. In contrast the K55 has 3 lighting zones, as I'm sure you already know, and gives fewer options and customizability.

    Hi. Can you combine a predefined light effect on top of a static light effect, and save it as one light effect on the hardware profile?
