I’ll be utilizing this video next week, thank you for making this!
I've become a big fan over the last few weeks! I hadn't tried modding my stabs on my Keychron Q11 but I ordered the Owlabs from Divinikey yesterday along with a numpad and some extra tools. I'm excited to post an update on my page and mention your name!
Thank you so much! You'll love the owlstabz. I think they are the best sounding stab that i have used so far and the wires come very well balanced as well.
I am still on my K2 v2 modded and looking towards V1 Max as an upgrade in months to come - programmable, 2.4Ghz and better build are just about good reasons for USD100, unless I find an alternative maker at the same price with better build/features/acoustics. Budget would be around USD100-150, but that needs to include my preferred XDA key-caps with cyrillic, and some modding stuff.
My current K2 v2 mod is:
- Gateron G Pro 3 Yellow switches
- Tape mode (2 layers)
- Durock stabilisers with popular mods
- 4mm Practik Base for vibration/sound dampening (orange)
- 5mm STP Biplast sound insulator (black)
- Poron foam between plate and PCB
- 0.5mm switch pads
- PBT XDA keycaps 1.5-1.6mm (cheap but good ones, not doubleshot)
- 1.5mm O-rings on XDA key-caps
Quiet sure this beets even the current stock V1 Max and NyPhy Halo75 v2, when it comes to thockiness and silence, but want a new one.
BTW, I noticed that not many, or close to none, options when it comes to cases w/o top cover, like the K2 (not considering the low profile ones)! More plastic/steel/aluminum = more ways to resonate.
And, after writing the above comment just ordered V1 Max, but with Gateron Yellow switches, as I know how they feel and I really like them. Couldn't hold back :))
Thanks, i have this saved in my playlist since i am getting a low profile redragon keyboard
tysm bro this helped so much!
Yo, that is terrible for the stabilizer? (That statement is highly subjective) For me sounds good, have you only used high end premium keyboards or something?
no, i just prefer stabilizers that dont rattle. I like a smooth consistent sound
Nice vid mate
I really enjoy your videos, you do a great job of getting the point across without talking down to your audience. Just an observation thought. In your closing sound test, the spacebar did´t sound that much better. I felt it still rattled a bit.
Thanks! Got my frst keyboard just yesterday, the V1, very disappointed with the stabilizers, sound meh and super wobly. I'm excited to jump into some mods! :)
Looks like Keychron watched this video before making the V1 MAX and made the adjustments 🙃
I prepared myself to mod my Keyboard but when my V1 Max arrived, I found out that it's great as is. No need for any mods
so you're not going to do any mods? none at all? I just ordered the v5 max.@@NeptuniaMorgan
@@NeptuniaMorgan i did a tempest tape mod simply out of curiosity because it’s so easy and because it’s my first mechanical keyboard. It changed the sound profile just how i expected, but i was pleased to see that under the PCB there is a very nice layer of foam already in place.
@@NeptuniaMorgan did you do the holee mod or stablelizers?
Hi, is there a video for modding higher end keyboards? At the start of the video I thought you were going to say that mods work for any keyboard high quality or not.
I just got a Keychron Q3 Max for my birthday and was wondering if it is even worth to mod it or not.
technically all these can work for any keyboard, but in some cases a lot of higher end keyboards either already come with the mod or dont need it. Ive generally found that for higher end keyboards you want to stick with stabilizer mods or at the very least the force break mod (tape between the top case and bottom case). Anything else can be a bit excessive.
my spacebar stabs were fine before i took it all apart, after i put it all back together it was really wobbly and sounded DISGUSTING..could it be that i screwed them in wrong or the keycap is just too worn out from me putting it in and out?
It could be either you’re using a membrane board or taking out the space made the lube in the stand wear.
I just ordered the new V5 Max keychron board. Do I need the 100% Owlab stablizers or the 80%?
you'll need the 100% since its a full size keyboard.
dunno, your stabs sound worse than my stock v1 stabs, even after you modded them. did they change the stabs on production some time ago?
I feel like they did because lately all the budget Keychron boards that i've built lately have had just absolutely terrible stabz. Its to the point where if i have to build a Keychron i'll just replace the stabs with something better.
Nice video! But isn't the stock V1 plate made out of steel and not alu?
you are correct! That was a mistake on my end!
guys to go 5:58 secs and look at his computor wallpaper....🤣
200th sub :)
