I bought some genuine pads, and the packet contained a leaflet telling one how to reset the electric brake to do the job. I have just reset the Freelander two electric handbrake, and you do it from the drivers seat using the car electronics.

are we not taking into account the preshure senser that is in that caliper and that caliper is controled by a basic can system and u did not come up with this it has already been shown on youtube

Sorry it was painful to watch. I understand that you are trying to be on a budget to retract calipers so better use 9v battery with 2 short wires. This way you are not risking shorting something out and then deal with that issue. If you are not willing to use 9v battery trick unbolt the motors and with hex bolt retract pistons. Not replacing rotors is not a great option(unless you just need to pass inspection or sell car) used rotor will have sharp areas which will eat into new pads and cause them to wear faster. So resurface rotors or better replace. Not unbolting the caliper braket will not assure you clean all rust from unfer the hardware and this can lead to future sticking issues. And honesty, if you are a DIY and you want to own volvo-there is no way not to have either chineese clone of Dice($100) and/or an icarsoft volvo specific diagnostic tool($150) which would allow you to read codes, retract ebrakes and more. Plus please clean the rust from the hub mating surface it might contribute to vibration. And also torque wrenches are cheap.

Didn't want to buy a 9v battery just for 1time use, i'd rather use the car's battery, cause i know how to use it and is no risk; didn't watch a tutorial on yt or to ask a mechanic about the ways you can do this so i don't know everything about that ebreak(in fact is the first time in my life doing this); about the rotors, you're right that normaly you can change them but no one says it's mandatory and i guess it was so painful to watch that you've missed that part when i said they're in good shape for this set of pads and i will replace them on the next one (also, you can't see the state of those rotors in the video better than me in front of them); the rust was not my goal, but changing the pads, so i don't care about the rust that much or i would've done something if they were in a bad condition and i would've just change the whole thing brakets and rotors and pads; i have DICE, icarsoft V3 and a torque wrench, i just didn't use them, again this video is not for everyone, but for regular people / DIYers, that don't posses all those things; and finally about the rotor rust i've said it already - you can't see everything i've done. I've cut a lot from the video to leave it a bit shorter, i had not much time left, because i have a full time job and not a lot of spare time and on top of all that, this is the 1st time in my life to do such thing! I'm not a mechanic, not an influencer but a regular guy that maintains his own cars when garages are expensive, don't care about your car and don't have enough time for yours unless it's a quick fix/job and costs alot of money. I'm saying all this because i've been through them and i've had enough. About the video, again it's not for everyone, so if it's not for you, it's fine, don't watch it and then complain to me that it was painful, i'm glad you liked something about it and i can just say thanks for the advices.
