Who wouldn't push that button at the end?! Sorry if this video is a mess. Filming at CES isn't easy but I want to highlight companies that are adding features for a more stable smart home. Which I think is extremely important!
I didn't think it was a mess at all! I find Aqara's home automation products to be nicely-designed and well-priced so it was good to see. Nice Pocket 3 too! Do you like it?
If you have a 3d printer it wouldn't be hard to incorporate it into a printed version. You could also probably use a ESP32 chip to add the "chirp" sound effect when you open it.
Honestly, Home Assistant needs to implement built-in easy clustering, just to make sure you have high availability on the automation. Good for Aquara for realizing that you don't want your hub going down on you.
Great to see you at CES! If the AI rule builder on the M3 hub works the way they say it will, it will be an absolute game changer and force all the other hubs in that direction. Very excited to see how that plays out.
I don't want another hub to run my automations...would this hub integrate into home assistant in some way? I currently use the AQARA sensors with HA directly.
Thank you for sharing Reed. I am excited for the M3. I have many Aqara devices in my home and think they are one of the best for smart home users for ease of setup and cost. I also like the thought of picking up the button to control speech devices- would absolutely need a locator on it as it it seems very small
Hey, when I talked to the rep he mentioned that Aqara have been in conversations with Home Assistant and are trying to find a way how to make the hub integrate with HA. Did you happen to get any more info on that?
Another question, there at the end, was that the T1M light you saw briefly? The one with the RGB ring around it? If so any idea when that's going to be available for purchase?
Did they say when the P1 Motion Sensors will be back in stock? I've been monitoring them on Amazon since before Christmas. In early Jan, they told me they were working on getting them back in stock, but nothing yet. I am in need of a few more.
I think there is a miss leading information regarding the M3 Hub as ONLY! matter/thread devices will have the high availability feature. Zigbee devices will not be able to run locally as well.
My hub goes offline at least once a week. Then again, that's due to my wife unplugging it in order to plug something else in. As soon as I find another spot for it, I'm moving it out of her reach.
So I have the M2 hub already, would I replace it with the new M3 when it comes out or is there any benefit to using both? Or can you even use both hubs together? Or would my M2 just be useless at that point?
Looking good, not trusting any aqara/xiaomi device connected to my wifi/lan network though. Not sure about remote connectivity, but would block all traffic in firewall
@@AndrewDeeIm not confusing the companies. Aqara is a daughter company of Xiaomi and Im grouping them because I personally trust neither. Im from europe, and local server would probably be good for quick response time, but its not opensource so no clue what that they are doing with my camera feed for example. Perfectly fine if you dont care, but I do. That why I run Home Assistant with Aqara zigbee devices and they work great. I have nothing against there product, as long as there is no network connection needed
What home invasion is stopped by locks? They're there for a first line of defence. How secure is that glass window beside your lock?if someone wants to break in, they will. No one's sitting there trying to bypass your smart lock.
I don't want something thay i Have to pick to be able to give instructions. I want a local controlled device so I don't need to worry about privacy and that is listening all the time.

One interesting question to address: is it worth to upgrade from M2 when M3 is released? :-)

I love how the Homey Pro staff is sitting down at the Aqara booth 00:13
We had a long chat😂
The "pick up to activate" microphone leads us right back to the ideal solution; the communicator from Star Trek- Tap to speak!
Haha yes! That's what we need!

It was great seeing you at CES too! I agree about the AI rule builder and can't wait to see it in action.
Incredibly excited for the keypad concept. Could open up some seriously powerful automations!!!

Binding is a good feature. YoLink has that feature and nice to know certain emergency monitors will still work on their own.
Like Disney World for tech junkies. Great CES video, by the way!

I need to know more about the U200! Is it Thread, Wifi or Zigbee?
Bluetooth and Thread
Another question, there at the end, was that the T1M light you saw briefly? The one with the RGB ring around it? If so any idea when that's going to be available for purchase?
Backup is an awesome feature! If it works well I’ll drop my hue hubs.
Thanks Reed.
Happy New Year🎉
IR Blasters are such underrated smart home devices

The AI could be interesting if it actually works the way they claim it will. The new door locks also look nice
How often does an Aqara hub go down? Never heard of that before.
This makes me think twice about buying one.
Computer hard disks don't fail often, but RAID is a big thing. Same concept here.

It's a marketing gimmick to sell more units. The chinese aren't stupid but they are dangerous.
Can you set up the hub without internet? I need to go from box to use without internet.
Does m3 hub support controlling hue lights?
Do you know if aqara planning on releasing the smart plugs in a UK version
Can't wait to get my hands on the M3 Hub!
I know you!! I watch your channel

Yess they say it can be a leader of other aqara hubs and make the setup more local
@@AndrewDee awesome, good to hear. Guess I'll be picking one up when they come out
The binding sounds like Z-Wave Associations.
Does the that hub make their previous devices matter compatible? I don't think all their current lineup is compatoble with samsung smartthings
Of course, it's also a matter bridge for the previous Zigbee devices
i was waiting for your video on ces. as always a great video!

Why confusing aqara with Xiaomi
They are different and aqara works more locally and has dedicated servers in the US for remote control and stuff

What’s that mirrored round thing?
Voice assistant microphone concept.
@@reedssmarthome No, I mean the one with the display on the wall.
Wait why did you breeze over local voice control?
Sorry I spoke too soon
Send the lock to lock picking lawyer and see how long he takes
It's probably a trash lock, let's be real. I don't trust any of the smart locks further than I can throw them tbh.

The need to use more LoRA.
But will the @lockpickinglawyer 2:49 approve this? 🤔
I bet not.
