Shooting macro with wider aperture will give a you a paper thin focus point. If you want to get a good separation to your subject and background you can do it with widest aperature that you have but in orderr to get sharp subject i suggest do photi stacking.
great tips on macro. What are your thoughts on this lens and other lens options for macro? Especially lenses that might be budget friendly. I shoot on a Panasonic g85 and currently find I'm doing ok learning macro with the 12-60 kit lens, but recently added the 100-300 and even though I have to move back further from the subject, i'm doing pretty good. However, I eventually want a dedicated macro lens. Thanks for all the great information.
Hello. This lens is extremely sharp. Macro lenses usually are but this one is...! I would recommend trying a dedicated macro lens for macro photography. It really makes the whole process a little bit different and the results are much better. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
I recently got one of these lens only just started out so a newbie but I get alot of the time it will not take a pic and other times it will , is it just me not having it set right even though in the view finder it looks focused and everything ? Or a dodgy lens any help would be helpful
Hello. Are you using auto focus? If so, then you can experience this problem. For macro we generally use manual focus - minimal focus distance. It also gives you the control of where the focus should be. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
@@M1R0_Life_through_a_lens cheers yes been on auto focus thanks for reply when the UK weather decides it want to be sunny again I will get out and try and experiment on manual 👍😁
I would say Sigma 105. It's an amazing PRO lens so save the money. It's extremely sharp and makes for amazing portraits as well. Either way you will get a good lens. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
@@gicechicken7062 Hello. I think I have it in the video where I was testing a flash diffuser. I'm planning on making more videos on the topic of macro in the future.
Excellent video and guide, I just got the same Sigma 105 f/2.8 for my d7200, eagerly awaiting spring up here in Sweden to shoot all the bugs!
Hello. Thanks. I totally understand. You will enjoy the lens ;). Cheers!

Hello. Not the fastest but I never use it. It's nice that you can choose the AF focus limit though. Cheers!
