I have a Honda hornet 600; my cable has just broke. like you say days to wait for the new one, not being a mechanic this video has given me a good idea how to replace my cable. Iam hoping i dont have to remove my tank to do this. But thank very much for the video. it has saved me a bill for Honda services.
Very Useful video thanks! My clutch cable went in the middle of rural ireland a few weeks ago (during the christmas period) so had to wait 3 hours to be recovered.... Still waiting on the new one to come grrr.
Ah perch, I knew I was saying it wrong. I finally got it to fit. I took it, rerouted it the exact same way, in the exact same order, and it went together like a damn puzzle. No complaints though! Thanks for the help, sorry I forgot to post a follow up
hey bud just got back from the shop with my new clutch cable...same thing happened to my '01 ZX6R last week...frayed at the handle. Gonna be replacing the cable tomorrow and this has helped a lot. I think the one tip that people gave me that you didn't mention is that you can unhook the old one, then tie the new one to the old one and pull it into position instead of memorizing the path of the original. Might not be possible on a lot of bikes but if it is I'm sure it would save a bit of time.
Ha! Broke my clutch cable last night, and just watched your coolant video. I thought "no way in hell this guy has done a clutch cable also"... but sure enough, you did. Now the wait begins for a clutch cable to come in... You need a tri-pod!
Check to make sure you go the right clutch cable. Check the cable routing. If that's all good, then make sure the barrel adjusted on the clutch perch is screwed in all the way and the one nut on the engine end of the cable housing is screwed back. How much more length do you need?
thanks for the vid-does the cable come with the housing on it, or is it like wen you buy a bicycle cable and all you get is the cable (housing is the black cable around the wire cable)
@assman12354 Yes, the cable comes with the housing, unlike most bike cables. These clutch cable have both ends one them, which would be hard for the average consumer to make.
tie the broken end of the old cable to the opposite end of the new cable via masking tape of electric tape then carefully and slowly pull out the old cable while feeding the new one through the same holes, etc. Easy peasy.
hey man I have a 93 ZX6E and apprently there are 2 different C.C. for these bikes the first one I ordered was too short but we got it in and even loosened on both ends far as u can go the clutch will not disengage b/c there is too much tension so much so I had to clip the cable too get it off over over tight...ok so I will have a new one tomorrow am and was wondering is there a easier way too doing this w/o takin the lower fairing off or should I, I didnt on the first one but it sucked (part1)
Thanks alot!! but i got a problem.. The Clutch release shaft isnt pulling anything it just loose.. unless its normal but the cable needs to be pulled from that right? Thankss
@ctb619 It came with the Big Gun exhaust I had on there. The chrome piece was to prevent burning through my pant legs... :-/ I've since switched back to stock exhaust due to noise.
great video, but you left out the portion I need - adjusting the clutch cable tension. Yes, I'm a noob, and no I don't have a manual (can't afford it at the moment.)
Alright man, I've followed this video to the word, and for some reason I cannot make my cable stretch far enough to reach both slots that the purges go into. What do I do??
I watched your video and replaced my clutch cable in no time at all with no problems. Thanks for posting!

Good shit man I was looking for a video for hours man one thing ..... Make Sure you get one other person to record it lol
Nice vid man, keep em comin. Have you ever had to replace the speedo sensor?
nice video mate! thanks! you see, i was always asking my self "what am i gonna doo if the clutch/brake cable brakes during a highway trip?"
@ctb619 It came with the Big Gun exhaust I had on there. The chrome piece was to prevent burning through my pant legs... :-/
I've since switched back to stock exhaust due to noise.
Are there specific times in the current video that were too vague? Specific areas on the bike that you couldn't see well?
you could bring extra clutch cable.. best way is by cable tie it with existing clutch cable...
once broken, it is easy to fix..
Very good... Thanks
Thanks man, i take my cable out of bike, but i forget the way back.. :-D
What do you mean by the speedo sensor? Something in the wheel or something in the instrument cluster?
great video, but you left out the portion I need - adjusting the clutch cable tension. Yes, I'm a noob, and no I don't have a manual (can't afford it at the moment.)
HELPED
I like it.
Alright man, I've followed this video to the word, and for some reason I cannot make my cable stretch far enough to reach both slots that the purges go into. What do I do??
i have a gio 200 clucth cabel snaped and the cabel on dat bike looks like da on on mine will a 200 yamaha blaster fit
What kind of header pipe is that?

I didn't. I doubt they come pre-stretched.
There should be more detail on proper adjustment
Bonjour!!!
