    Yup, don’t over tighten around that bracket! Happened to me and the little part broke off, dealer wanted me to pay 1000 to replace the clutch cover. Ridiculous. I went to a friends shop and they were able to weld the piece back on for me thank god

    Thank you. In the 2 years I've owned my bike no one will set it for me ("only you know how much play you want") or show me how. Both the new off the floor and after 8k clutch discs replacement (dealer) when it stopped working at all the cable had been tight. This is the first video I've seen someone show how to set the rough side. I now am aware I'm about 1/2 inch to the right of the bracket. That explains my fine tune being at the handle end completely.

      @@theoverengineer the amount of mechanic follow up I experience is astounding. The entire cable moved from nuts in the middle to all the way right. My 8k rear tire was worn so I purchased a road 6 from r'zilla. Had it installed at a bike shop not dealer. 4 hrs later they had swapped the oem to road6. I left, made it 3 miles before I just couldn't get over how responsive my throttle was while feeling like a was dragging something. Checked the chain. THEY MOUNTED IT WITHOUT ADJUSTING THE AXLE! Chain stretched so tight my rings are showing. Glad I had the rusty tools it comes with to move the axle on the side of the road to have slack in the chain. Adjusted correctly when I got home. 4th shop locally that doesn't get my repeat business.

    Good explanation, thank you. Installed an EBC SRK kit. It was slipping at 10k rpm. Followed your instructions, works great now.

    The white dust is the lubrication lol. It's a lubrication that goes in as a liquid and then turns to a white powder. The powder is what keeps the cable lubricated lol. It's way, way better than using wd40 or any other lubrication. You can get it at any cycle store.

    Ideally the slot in the adjuster at the handlebar end should be facing down or rearward to prevent rainwater entering, I assume it rains in your country. :>)

    • @theoverengineer
      @theoverengineer  9 лет назад

      Chris Stephens Yup, 10 out of 12 months. So I GREASE the top end of the cable, OIL the rest, because I rotate the fine adjuster a bit every month (riding all year), so it does face into the rain for some time. I want the reach standard even if its more lubing & TLC.

    hi! do you know how can I remove the LITTLE SPRING on where the end of the clach cable is down there on the cluch case? my sping is broken so my cluch lever is not getting back in place there is no force on it? if you go 5:48 you will see the spring am talking about.

    • @theoverengineer
      @theoverengineer  5 лет назад

      Cut with pliers, remove in 2 -3 pieces. New spring will bend and flex enough to get in place during installation.

    • @Nisotovski
      @Nisotovski 5 лет назад

      @@theoverengineer it is very simple. I release the cluch cable. All you need to do is slide that peace up and you will just need to replace the spring. I didnt know that you dont need any tolls for the jov excep the one for removing the cluch bolts. Thanks anyway

    Why do you need to oil the cluch cable? Asked a mechanic if I need to do this and the said don't because it doesn't go well with teflon. Still not sure what he ment by that.

    • @theoverengineer
      @theoverengineer  3 года назад

      Do you clean and lube teflon coated frying pans? Same works for teflon coated cables.
      Some cables are uncoated.
      Alternatively, one can wait until the cable breaks, like this:
