The hosts reset at the end of their narrative. So if one gets up, goes to town, and none of the guests really interact with them, they will reset the next day. But if a guest takes a host on an adventure, they won't reset until that guest leaves.
Mikey (paraphrasing): I knew we’d watch something fun, but didn’t know it would be this crazy.” // Oh, just you wait. Everything in episode 001 is about as crazy as vanilla ice cream when you compare it to where the show goes over 4 seasons.
@@bigbang1612S3 and S4 aren’t perfect, but the ideas they raise are actually really smart, and a fifth / final season could have really tied things up well. But HBO doesn’t give a fuck about smart shows.
The Pianola is a fully functioning one and sat in the foyer of the production offices for many years - along with the custom cut rolls made by one of the last people who makes them. The versions of modern songs they play are all actually being played on it. Patrick Clair, the creative director behind the opening sequence of the show “saw the metaphor behind the player piano - ‘a primitive form of robot’ - as an exploration into the disparity between man and machine, ‘being created to be made redundant’.
The first season is phenomenal. I don't mind the second season. Many people don't like the third but I love the story it tells that, I think, ties back into the first so well.
So glad you enjoyed it. The best advice i can give you is that everything is done for a reason. If something doesn't make sense to you, it is not a mistake it is on purpose. Can't wait for the next episode!
This show is a remake of the 1973 movie Westworld which was written and directed by Michael Crichton who is most famous for writing the novel Jurassic Park. The Westworld movie is worth a watch for anyone reading this that hasn't seen it yet. It is very good and has one of the more intimidating 'bad guy' performances' ever. Yul Brynner is brilliant in the role with few lines. BONUS - Thanos' dad is in it.
When Ford is down in cold storage having a drink with the old host, Yul Brynner's Gunslinger is visible in the background (or at least someone made to look like him).
FINALLY SOME MORE ‘NEWCOMERS’ 🤠🤖 acting/cast, cinematography, Ramin Djawadi literally COOKING with the music, and themes/philosophical questions it poses are second to none 🤘🏻🔥🍻. yes, it’s real life RDR, thank you for correlating that 🫡 this is the best show, period.
Westworld and The Expanse are the first two shows I watched RUclips reactions for, many years ago when they were actually still on TV. I used to leave comments about these being the best two shows, and everyone should watch and/or react to them. I've not changed my mind, other than maybe now I would say these two plus The Good Place are the best three shows ever. You're in for a great ride, and I do think you should watch all of the Westworld seasons; the later seasons are not as good, I'd say each season isn't as good as any that came before, but I think they are all worth watching mainly because they continue to be thought provoking about how we relate to AI and the implications for our society now and in our future.
@@732ReviewCrewClose, but unfortunately - as I wrote above - Westworld is better in the early seasons unlike The Expanse which mostly got better with each season.
People keep talking about The Good Place in contexts like this that I wouldn't imagine they would. Isn't it just like a cute comedy thing? I think I saw the first couple episodes when it first came out, but it seemed really saccharine and average, so I stopped watching it. But this is like the third time I've heard people say it's good. It's the one with Ted Danson, right? Does it turn into something totally different?
@@WaxPaperWithout any spoilers I think The Good Place appeals to people who enjoy shows about philosophy, morality, etc. Westworld sort of examines what we mean by sentience, being human and free will, but not really in any great depth - it's more of an action mystery in my opinion. While The Good Place examines how "good" can be, but maybe shouldn't be, measured and what various philosophers throughout history have to say about this, plus lots of great comedy.
Excellent premiere episode. Love the main theme by Ramin Djawadi who was also the composer for Game of Thrones. Should be a fun ride. Show has a great cast. I especially like Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, and Ed Harris as the Man in Black.
I LOVE westworld !!.. it is a pity that hbo didn´t give it the final series to end the story... I will always wonder what was going to be the final ascend ! I am still hoping that the producers can end the series somewhere else in the streaming world...
Let's goooooooo!! Season 1, amazing. Season 2, even better. Season 3, drank too much of their own tea but still good. Season 4, they removed it from HBO for tax purporses before I could even watch it. But the first 2 seasons are 🔥 🔥
Oh nice, Westworld was good. I never watched season 4 but the beginning was good. This is based on a movie written by Michael Crichton called Westworld back in the 70s like you said. It expands the lore severely. Great cast too - Hiroyuki Sanada, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Anthony Hopkins, James Marsten and more. Rodrigo Santoro also and later Aaron Paul. Oh and Tessa Thompson and one of the Hemsworths. Simon Ogg and Thandie Newton too.
You are the first people who have ever reacted to this that think they are shrunk?????? The table is just a large 3d holo projection of the park. Nobody is miniturised lol.
Shrink people? C'mon. Also, they don't all reset every day. It depends on what happened to them that day. The scalper said he's been coming there for 30 years, not been there for 30 years. If he was a host, and I'm not saying he isn't, why did Teddy's gun not affect him? Now, if we can just get you guys to release 4 or 5 episodes a day we will be all set.
This reaction is great! 😁 There will be many cool reveals and blown minds in/from this show. Also why did Mike become Beef? 👀🤣 Loved quests aspect and paint it black in this episode. Oh you did some crazy and some spot on predictions lol.
Good luck. Understanding without any context of the show is difficult. Edit after watching: They did better than some, but were just as confused as others in some ways, as well.
“Do they not shrink people?” I like you guys but… 🙄 You guys are going to have to do better than that if you’re going to watch this show. Let’s get our rest and thinking caps on.
I’m not sure if this is a spoiler but the first episode intentionally doesn’t make it clear that certain scenes are set like 30 years apart. also, no shrinking.

I think the man in black is a long time returning guest. Itwhy he couldn't be shot.
Nah, they don't shrink anybody in Westworld - the park is life-sized hahah :D
Yeah, that’s just a holo-map of the park
Made me think of this show from the 70's called Dr. Shrinker
Yeah, whenever you see a map, even on your phone, it means the rest of the world is miniature... That's obviously the simplest explanation.
Hahaha I laughed when I heard that! I remember me and some friends had the same first impression seeing it until we figured it out xD
Thats the weirdest assumption ive heard anyone take
the certainty with which Beef asserted that everyone in the park is tiny is absolutely hilarious lol

Interesting! It definitely will be worth a watch
It's ironic that in the movie, they couldn't get the hands right and 50 years later AI can't get the hands right.

I viewed the minature as a video game mini-map or world map
Yes! This confused us initially
Yes, that's it lol.
Just to make discussions easier Ed Harris's character is "the man in black"
So glad you're watching Westworld. I loved your BSG reactions and I really loved Westworld, especially the first 2 seasons.
Really confused as to why you thought they "shrink people". Were you thrown off by them having a map room?
Yep!
IM SOOOOOOOOOOO glad you guys are reacting to this!
One of the best first seasons of any show ever!
Yes, yes, yes! So excited! Clicked on this SO fast.
Excellent premiere episode. Love the main theme by Ramin Djawadi who was also the composer for Game of Thrones. Should be a fun ride. Show has a great cast. I especially like Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, and Ed Harris as the Man in Black.
The music is next level.
Did you catch "paint it black" by the Stones?
Yes!!! It starts slow then hits so well
The player piano played "Black Hole Sun" a few scenes before the Paint It Black scene.
You can watch the Westworld movie. It does fit in with the series.
Thanks to Mikey, Beef and Mike! 🤖 I love this series and am disappointed it ended.
Lol, I was hoping you guys would make it another episode or two until you finally realized it's not a "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" thing.
oh boy....
saying "buckle up" here would be the understatement of the millennium.
All of this has happened before. And all of this will happen again.
So say we all!😉😊
You lucky fuckers i wish i could go back to experiencing this show for the first time, absolute masterpiece

I'm gonna enjoy this! Great show.
You are the first people who have ever reacted to this that think they are shrunk?????? The table is just a large 3d holo projection of the park. Nobody is miniturised lol.
That makes way more sense
I've seen quite a few reactors be confused by the map. Or it takes them a while to realize it's not all a holodeck like on Star Trek.
Perfect show to start up after finishing BSG, enjoy another great ride
Seeing a holoview and thinking they're shrinking people doesn't bode well for figuring this show out.
Ayo the Bois are watching Westworrrrrld!?!? Oh heck yes.

"Have you ever been to Montana?" haha. Yeah, that's Utah, not Montana.
While editing I googled this and found out how wrong I was 🤣
@@732ReviewCrew I mean, if you’ve never been it’s a fair guess.
I'm jealous that you're going to experience Westworld. IMO, one of the best series ever produced. Pay attention. ;-)

Imagine having recorded that you think they are shrunken people 😂
Great that you guys are doing this. First two season I would say are great... after that its a fairly steep decline.
Honey I shrunk the robots.
Dude, Westworld season 1 is one of the best seasons of TV. So disappointed in the way the show went.
What happened to fringe? also, this show was cancelled and never had any sort of conclusion.
Friday.
lets goooo
ah yes, Westworld season 1 was great, too bad they never made more seasons...
