Hey there.. I purchased an Aegis system from MSI: i7-10700KF, 16 GB (dual channel), 512 GB SSD (same ADATA Drive) + 1TB WD Black SATA, with RTX2060 Super. For the low, low, price of $1300. As you mentioned in your video.. the current cost of just the graphics card is near the price of the machine. Just a note, the exact model number is Aegis R 10SC-017US. From the get-go, the system was completely unstable. Solution - replace the SSD. When I called MSI, their chat support was terrible and actually had me trying to upgrade the bios with the wrong image, they told me they were having issues with the SSD. I swapped to a 1TB WD Black NVME and nearly all my problems were gone. I say nearly because the network was running about 10% of its expected capacity. After another full windows reset and all is finally well. I want to mention that I've upgraded the ram with some Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, 2 16GB sticks. Since the last windows reset and the upgrades. the system has been flawless. I purchased this in an attempt to nudge my way back into the PC world and see if I can actually create content on a PC vs having to just use my Mac. I plan on documenting my "struggle" to make the conversion.. I guess we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the video.. I figured I'd toss in my .02 to let you know that you found the hart of the problem. Tha ADATA drive and MSI gear do not get along. And it's not just that motherboard. Cheers AirgunWeb
Considering how common this issue is, my guess is they broke the windows installation. You should try reinstall windows on that ssd to see if that fixes it. I highly doubt an ssd would have a failure rate near 100%.

I think the issue could be that MSI installs Windows on a separate machine to the SSD and then installs it into the gaming pc. This would explain that “setting up” screen at the start and the random blue screens. I’ve tried porting my old windows to my new computer once I got a new mobo but despite all of my efforts I just had random blue screens or errors. All of which were fixed once I re installed windows.

Hidden behind the cooler I see 4 inductors. I guess that is what you call VRM. Albeit, given the name, you probably trying to figure out not only topology but also the MOSFETs used and they controller. Well, let me see what I can do. If he is right, the mobo is a MSI H410M Pro and according to Xtremegaminerd it's a 5 phase VRM. Hearthstats also says it's a 5 phase VRM. And looking at it, I say it may be a 5 phase VRM, the weirdest one I have seen. Couldn't find a good image to know what components they have used. If you feel confused, don't worry, people just haven't told you that Voltage Regulator Module is just a fancy word for DC to DC converter, you can also call them Voltage regulators.

It's not just this specific model from MSi either it's most of their desktops in the last several months. I've sold 5 in the past month and 4 of them have had this issue. One didn't even make it past the windows initial setup before crashing! One was sent back to MSi, fixed and sent back and it had the issue again! Sold lots of MSi desktops over the last few years and they're usually fine it's only been in the last several months. Haven't noticed any issues with their laptops either seems to just be the desktops.
So, I ended up buying this PC (with a 12th gen i5 and a 3050) and i immediately went and did a clean install of Windows 11. It's been running smoothly. Also the CPU cooler mine came installed with isn't the little one his came with but a chunkier cooler. Probably not as good as some of the ones Dawid uses but still a step up from the one in the video, so maybe MSI is learning.
It’s a really good computer. My friend bought this from Costco and it didn’t work right out of the box. It wouldn’t start. I advised him and we went through connecting/disconnecting all internal connection, repositioned ram, video card and around 2nd hour of trouble shooting we recognized that the hard drive was actually disconnected. So honestly people that buy this and can’t trouble shoot more medium issues like reconnecting internal wires, write a negative review. After reconnecting his hard drive, he has been enjoying this PC without any issues!
i got mine from costco aswell, i HATEE the fans though, had it since 2020 and overall works great, never had an issue, although its so sensitive where if u slightly smack the case it blue screens...
I just built a system for a client using the next tier up board from MSI and, while the board seems fine, MSI Dragon Center was a nightmare. The MSI SDK kept causing blue screen errors everytime it tried to launch that SDK update. Ultimately it turned out that installing it while having RGB actively plugged into the port would cause the SDK to fail and crash the system which corrupted the entire install of it which in turn cause the system to crash every time it rebooted the PC due to auto-launch of the Dragon Center. Im curious if Dragon Center might have been the cause of you issue as well considering a new drive and new install of Windows worked 100%. Let me know if you test it and see similar results. Seems to be a big issue on the new LGA1200 lower tier boards. For reference Im using the MSI b460m PRO-VDH WIFI with a 10600k (dont ask, lol). Either way, great vid! Thanks!
Even if you aren’t good at keeping wires and cables in order and it’s all over the place, building your PC yourself is always the best option, it might take an entire night the first time you put together a PC, but after the first time you’ll be able to do it in an hour easily

No issues since, and Memory Express RMA'd the hard drive with MSI and sent a Kingston M.2 in return. It's been going strong ever since. On a side note, they are definitely aware of the issue from what I can tell.

Okay so 4-5 days ago I bought this computer. I was very confused when I saw all the bad reviews about crashing and blue screen problems but I decided I will buy it because it was in very good deal from memory express. I was ready to rebuild a windows but first I wanted to see what's going on with the windows 11 so what I did after staring up the pc I immediately installed all the Microsoft updates that is offered for this machine. I installed all the latest updates and I didn't faced any crash so far. I played all sort of games but it didn't crash on me so what I'm thinking Microsoft fixes the windows crashes issue with all their new updates. It's a very good pc to be honest with 12th gen i5 and dual channel memory. so far I'm happy with my upgrade.
Funny enough, I have the Aegis Msi build that has the i5-10400f and 1660 super and the same H410 motherboard. Only difference is it has a HDD, And I bought it from Walmart for $900 USD in January of 2021. I have had this build for 2 years now and I’ve used it to stream and game and video edit and all this stuff that can be extensive of the components. Funny thing is, I’ve never had the Blue screen issue. I just recently upgraded the CPU to the i9-10850k since it was the 400 chipset and fit the LGA1200 socket. Quite a bit of a difference in performance. The other thing is since there are only two DDR4 slots, I made the decision to go overkill with a 32gb RAM kit. That’s helped allot. The major downside of my build is it came in the Aegis SE pre built case. Aka NO AIR MOVEMENT. So to remedy this I just run it without the side panel. I have plans of moving it into a better case in the future. Along with a GPU upgrade. But as of now, it runs pretty well for High settings on most all games I play. All in all I am actually impressed with the build from MSI. I’d give it a solid 3.5/5 stars. Airflow is a HUGE problem with this build. Along with the i5-10400f not being great. It Only has a rear exhaust fan paired with the cheap RGB OEM cpu cooler.
My first foray into prebuilt "gaming" computers had a 3060ti system from the egg people die within 2 weeks. Two more weeks or so to get sorted out. Made me nervous but I bit the bullet again...a bigger bullet. Other than me rearranging, modifying and making it look suh-weet and neat...I've had zero issues with my Skytech "Blaze" 3080 build. I gave it a month to screw up before I started messing with it and decided it was mine...I'm keeping it.
Is there a recent pre-build for under $2k that you DO recommend? I'm trying to upgrade from my 10 year old pc right now and the research process is a nightmare. Any advice is greatly appreciated
So you swapped the SSD and also reinstalled Windows? Why didn't you image the old Windows install and try to eliminate that? Also, system integrators can set up and customize Windows. Just because there is an OOBE (Windows Setup) doesn't mean there is no bloatware on the machine.
Question, I got my son the MSI Codex 5 12th gen desktop, I noticed the VRM have no heat sinks as yours in video doesn't either. This doesn't make sense for a Gaming desktop,. Is this safe for mobo? Should I be buying heat sinks to stick on? Thanks
Hey man, got a question for you, though this is like two months late. I have the MSI Codex Z. Considering the R and the Z are almost the same and I'm having the same problem that owners of the R are having, I did a fresh windows install on it. However, the problem isn't fixed. I asked a friend of mine and he told me RAM might be a problem. I just wanted to know if you had anymore crashes on that machine after the pinned comment went up. Were you free of the BSOD plaguing this thing?
Felt that you cut the defect investigations a little short. With the ADATA you were getting blue screens. You replaced it with a Seagate with a fresh windows install and that appears to resolve the blue screen issue. So you concluded that it looks like the ADATA hardware or the MSI Windows install. So why did you stop there. Next thing would be to swap the ADATA back in and see whether the blue screens return. If they do then put a fresh Windows install on the ADATA and see whether the blue screens persist. With those tests you would be able to conclude with reasonable confidence whether it was (1) the SATA connection, (2) the ADATA hardware, (3) the windows install or (4) something other than the SSD

Cheers

Considering how common this issue is, my guess is they broke the windows installation.
You should try reinstall windows on that ssd to see if that fixes it. I highly doubt an ssd would have a failure rate near 100%.

Also weird that this is the first video he's uploaded since February 13 (ruclips.net/video/HdS-Hxv54wQ/видео.html) that doesn't have a promotion in it. Maybe he wanted to make it less obvious that he's removing the intros to make more room for paid promotions? I got one of these for the son for his first computer...it was nothing but trouble out of the box. BSODs, and the installed wifi adapter was a no-go.
So I scrubbed the drive, did a clean Windows install, and bumped it up to 32gb of GSkill Trident...
And it hasn't hiccupped since.
Runs flawlessly.
you should start doing like rendering and productivity stress tests to diversify your figures

When he opened the side panel, the first question that went in to my head was "Where the hell is the VRM?", I literally couldn't believe that a motherboard could be THAT bad with such decent specs.
Hidden behind the cooler I see
4 inductors.
You should definitely test if the BSOD issues went away simply by reinstalling Windows on that original SSD

Thanks!

You have really stepped up the production quality. Great work!
I bought the MSI case for my Grandson's build, very pleased with it, great airflow.

I had the same Problem on a MSI B550 A-Pro with a SanDisk SSD. Changed the SDD and everything runs just fine.
