      I missed hanami this year because the weather turned warm and flowers bloomed 10 days earlier 😢 I followed the forecast and could have seen it. Would love to see cherry blossom here, less crowded compared to Kyoto/Tokyo. Does it bloom in late March here?

      At upscale sushi restaurants, cloth towels for wiping hands are the first thing to be provided. Even at an economy sushi restaurant, there should be paper towels.
       This is for wiping your hands. You can eat sushi with your hands. It is more authentic that way.

    Glad you were able to make it to the bridge. The river is not always that low - I once saw 3 vendor vans get washed away after heavy rains raised the river faster than they could get packed up. My former in-laws have an okonomiyaki restaurant just down the road from the bridge, so I’ve been there in every season. Like someone else said, it’s a top spot for cherry blossom viewing.

    Just woke in Australia this morning to see your blog. Iwakuni! Yes it’s on my list and yes we are booked to go for spring yay cherry blossoms! I was going to spend a morning there (taking off from Hiroshima) am I allowing enough time? I was going to take a train along the coast back to Hiroshima. Did you use Shinkansen or local train to get there? We seem to like the same places!

    • @TalesFromOurPocket
      @TalesFromOurPocket  Год назад +1

      Oh, you'll like it! We took a local train to get there from Hiroshima (I don't think the Shinkhansen saves much time - and runs a lot less often). Regarding how much time to spend there, the answer is...it depends! If cherry blossoms are blooming when you're there, you might want more time to soak up the beauty. Also, there are craft fairs and things during that time - I think mainly on weekends. I would allow a half day, but it could be more if you take it easy and the cherry blossoms are blooming. It could be amazing! Enjoy!!

    まむしThe snake is poisonous and will die if bitten, but most of them bite their legs. Bitten. In the unlikely event that you are bitten, tighten the bitten part with a rope as thin as possible to prevent the poison from circulating, then call 119 for an ambulance and get a serum injection at the hospital. This poisonous snake can be found in damp places, riverbeds, and mountain paths in summer.
