Just got mine today. Yes, there is loctite on the threads, which is cool that they decided to fix the issue. Did my first ride and boy is it fun. Even tried the max speed of about 33km/h or so on, it got kinda wobbly in that speed but again, my first ride ever on a electric scooter. Another thing is, the bloody thing is quite heavy so I'd advice everyone to keep other road users in mind while blazing around on this thing and info that you are coming past, the bell is ideal for that. You never know when some kid decides to veer on your path. Other than that fact, very enjoyable ride. Oh and also, had some trouble getting air into the tyres, don't know if the extension piece for the tyre valves was broken or what, gotta find another way to fill 'em up accurately. But all in all, I think it's worth the money. Gonna have a blast going fishing with this thing this summer! Safe rides everyone!
That is cool they added the loctite! I recommend getting a digital air pump. They have built in valve extenders so it makes attaching the hose much easier. You just set the psi you want and push okay and they do all the work.
I got the Xiaomi electric air compressor and didn't have to use the extender that came with it. The compressor already has one. It's nice to be able to get an accurate read. You don't want to over pump or under pump the tires. It can cause flats.

Bought the newest edition today, Ninebot Max G30LP. Haven't ridden a scooter since I was in grade school, and love it. Though, once I got it into S mode, I realized how vital a helmet really is haha. Went and bought one also today, and I am now waiting for a full charge to scoot around! Great review, and I am glad I made my choice.
Excellent video, even though it is now an older scooter the price point is much better and I just need something to get around town! You covered everything reallly well thanks for the thorough review!
Very good review. I’m 70 and just bought mine at Costco in Canada for under $900 taxes in. There seems to be some discrepancies when reviewing the manual. First, it says, “don’t get it wet”. Second, I check my model number and it does start with a 9. So second gen, correct? But, this Scooter only has the block charger with round plug. I was hoping for the single built in charger. What’s up with that? Thank you.
I weigh around 200 pounds and found that this scooter is a great fit! It hits 19mph without hesitation. It climbs fairly steep hills without a problem in S mode. It is comfortable and feels very sturdy and the app is super easy to use. There are only 2 things that I’d change on the scooter. I’d like the handlebars to be wider as it is a pretty fast scooter and could use wider bars. I’d also like the headlight to shine a little bit higher rather than just spotlighting the ground directly in front of the scooter.
I've got electric skateboards and scooters and my Ninebot Max is the best performer of the lot for the price. Its rugged, reliable, comfortarble, affordable and a solid performer. It's the perfect commuter
My definition of 'normal use" is, "is the scooter on, with a human attempting to stand on it while moving?". If yes, then it's normal use, no matter if I'm in midair on the way down a 12 stair, or 4mph on the sidewalk.
I tried the Ninebot Max but found the Turbowheel Swift+ (ewheels) superior in most categories at the same price. Better braking, better hill performance, faster, better handling and a far more comfortable ride. The Max does have it beat in total mileage and perhaps in water resistance, with it's ip54 rating.
I think some people are willing to pay for the sleek aesthetic that the MAX provides, that plus the waterproofing, and the fact that the MAX has a phenomenal headlight. The Swift does look like a neat little scooter though, I'd love to get my hands on one for testing.
I've been looking at this scooter at Costco, I have the Gotrax XR Elite and love it, but am also looking for something with just a bit more speed than 15.5 MPH and a bit more range.

I really like this in-depth review on this Segway Ninebot G30. I’m completely new to the commuter scooter scene. I’m totally clueless and a-bit confused on which model to get in this price rage. This model sounds like it’s perfect for me and for my needs in conjunction with bus riding for work & school. And this tips on what to do before riding especially using lock tight in all areas you mentioned.
Yikes! And I thought we had tough laws here in Sweden. Here we are allowed to have it running in 45 km/h, but then it's considered a moped and then you need license tag and insurance. You are also not allowed to use it on sidewalks then, only on the road. However, if you chose the 25 km/h version, then you don't need a license plate, only insurance. And you can use it on side walks as well. And if you chose the 20 km/h version then you don't need anything, no license plate and no insurance, and you can drive it wherever you like, side walks, etc. The reason why is because it's considered a bicyckle then, so all the same rules apply as for bicyckles. I guess scooter life is better then I expected here in Sweden after all.. ;)
@@goldrush5764 Oh heres my question... I plan a trip to SWEDEN. and i habe the german scooter version with 20kmh and a german License Tag. do you know if its valid in SWEDEN (it runs (german tolerance 22kmh)
Well, you won't have an insurance if you use it here I guess. The thing is that the reason you don't need an insurance here in Sweden for these if they do 20 km/h is because the home insurance will cover if you crash. I don't think your german house insurance will cover if you crash over here. I think it's better that you rent one here instead, if you are planning to go to a larger city because there you will be able to rent one.
@@GingerOnWheels We got another one the other day! Got rid of my car so no big deal with spending money on two Ninebots. I was spending almost 500 bucks a month just on a lease and insurance for a car. Live in NYC and there is a lack of parking, too much traffic and too many cops and traffic enforcers giving out tickets.
Looks like I'm almost a year late seeing this... however, great review and very much apprecited. I have two G30's and can agree with all of your comments. I'm 6'4" and right at the weight limit and the front latching assembly on the scooter I ride most often is definitely struggling to manage the abuse I subject it to. Even slightly more robust components would go a long way to improve that mechanism. But other than getting loose, nothing has failed. I would ask other owners to look at the alignment of the handlebars to the front wheel. On both of mine it is a little off. One to the left, and the other to the right. Is that common?
Just ordered one, this detailed review tipped it over. Thanks especially for the details notes about parts, the hackability, and the water resistance (important for Vancouver). I was hesitant about the G30 due to its Xiaomi m365 heritage, that being what I'm upgrading from. Fortunately, the two things about that scooter which suck - the tires and the flimsy stem latch - have been upgraded. (Though you did give me a bit of a scare when you said they needed Loctite on those stem bolts, I was afraid they'd gone and poured all their Loctite Red on the front wheel bearings again - the ones you have to break free to change the front tire >:( ) This time I'll be getting it from a local shop, who at least are better equipped for repairs than I am.
Awesome review! The level of detail you've gone into here is deep and you've been fair to bring up some of the ongoing issues. Our Service Department head was really impressed with the level of knowledge here.
I'm really loving my Max. I have a Gen 2 and did the CFW upgrade plus changed the serial number and I'm getting 23 mph on 100% battery! (6' 1" and 200 lbs) After 90% it drops to 21 mph and so on. I'll def be upgrading the battery to 48v eventually, but for now I'm pretty happy. It's perfect for my commutes in NY to work and back home in any weather condition. Thanks for the great video!

I have been using Ninebot MAX G30 for a while now and I have to say that this scooter is easily one of the best scooters I ever had and propably for now it IS the best! I really love the 65km range it can go and the speed is nice. In Addition this scooter has a smart broadcast system and a useful remote app aswell.
Just bought one of these in May 2022, and for the record they must have seen your video because the 6 handlebar screws now have the blue thread locking material applied to them.
@9:40 the G30P Max I got today had blue loctite blobs on the all-important screws that the user has to install. EDIT: But I will be checking those periodically anyways. EDIT: Also @19:37 you mention the scooter must be hacked before you can disable the kick-to-start feature. They must have updated that because I can in standard original configuration set my kick start minimum speed to 0.0mph which basically lets me push off with just the motor. I have to pull the brake once to wake it up out of "park" mode, but after that can just take off with the throttle.
7:20 I have an F40 and I wonder about the same thing. The resistance of the brake is so minimal people can stil push it away, so i wonder what's the point of that? also at 8:58 does it give you a sensation that the brake is actually "letting go" for too long though? on cars, ABS is supposed to pump the brakes that you won't even notice it is braking and releasing it. On mine it feels like it releases the brake for a complete 1 second before braking again for another 3, which is in my opinion a bit dangerous in a few situations where I need more predictable braking.

The only thing I will change about this scooter when I get one is I will add a small circulation cooling fan for when the battery is in charge just to blow some air around. A similar design as of for the Makita battery for power tools. I think I will make removable deck cover or cut flaps with magnetic strips for air intake and Exhaust Port. Or work out a way to mount a fan in the frame and have exhaust ports near the back of the deck.
@@GingerOnWheels extreme heat deteriorates the lifespan of lithium ion cells. It is also energy-efficient to cool down the cells as they charge because they use less power to get to their desired voltage of 4.2v. I have 3 Makita batteries and I have 6 DeWalt batteries the Makita batteries last incredibly long because of this ingenious integrated cooling system. On the other hand my DeWalt batteries that do not have a integrated cooling system do not last as long.

Thank you ! That was the goal. I spent weeks on this video.
This is probally the best review in the world
20:07 scared the living daylight out of me!
Sorry about that. Little note pinned in the comments there for ya.
Seems like you had a little too much fun with the built in Table of Contents on the bottom bar. :)
Excellent video, even though it is now an older scooter the price point is much better and I just need something to get around town! You covered everything reallly well thanks for the thorough review!
Got mine today, in Australia. The screws came with lock tight- so they took your advice.
Sweet!
You in Brisbane bro? I got mine too. Screws didn't come with mine unfortunately 😂
can you recommend where to buy from?
I'm in Brisbane/Ipswich area
@@stephanievete6717 you could also just go into town and get it. Mine was paid on afterpay so right now in slowly paying it off. Just an option
I snagged one for 599 last year and it’s been great, 400+ miles
Very good review. I’m 70 and just bought mine at Costco in Canada for under $900 taxes in. There seems to be some discrepancies when reviewing the manual. First, it says, “don’t get it wet”. Second, I check my model number and it does start with a 9. So second gen, correct? But, this Scooter only has the block charger with round plug. I was hoping for the single built in charger. What’s up with that?
Thank you.
Maybe Canada is different. But that doesn't make sense they don't give you the simple charging chord.
one of the best models ever made
I weigh around 200 pounds and found that this scooter is a great fit! I’d also like the headlight to shine a little bit higher rather than just spotlighting the ground directly in front of the scooter.
well that maches you great mr 200 punds go to the gym bro
I've got electric skateboards and scooters and my Ninebot Max is the best performer of the lot for the price. Its rugged, reliable, comfortarble, affordable and a solid performer. It's the perfect commuter
Very professional looking video , and well done, the non locking braking segment was awesome.. ow ya the scooter is ok, it was my first scooter.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
The quality of this video is great subbed
Appreciate that, thank you.
Seeing you use the scooter in “normal use” is killing me mann 😂😂 love the video though! Very detailed!
My definition of 'normal use" is, "is the scooter on, with a human attempting to stand on it while moving?". If yes, then it's normal use, no matter if I'm in midair on the way down a 12 stair, or 4mph on the sidewalk.
I'm watching near the end of 2021 and have bought a Ninebot scooter. I can confirm that those stem screws come with blue Loctite from the factory.
I just purchased one. Huge thanks lad. Very informative.
You should see how long it takes to charge each scooter on a treadmill with regen braking.
LOL now thats a good idea!
If I had a treadmill I'd totally do that. Maybe after the virus I can find someone....
@@GingerOnWheels I have a treadmill and a Dualtron 2 EX+. I will see if it's even possible.

bro you sent it over the stairs on that thing! way to go. solid review.
I've been looking at this scooter at Costco, I have the Gotrax XR Elite and love it, but am also looking for something with just a bit more speed than 15.5 MPH and a bit more range.
Get it while your gotrax xr elite is still alive. Those things are an absolute piece of junk.. You certainly get what you pay for.

Thank you I’m definitely getting it now.

Love this video, so datailed and awesome editing.
We in germany are stuck to 20 kmh thats 12, 4 Miles per Hour... AND WE NEED INSURANCE AND and an LICENSE TAG
Yikes, Time to move!
In uk its just illegal
Thank you for such an intensive review of the Ninebot. My son just ordered one. If all goes well we will order another one .
Sounds like a plan! You're welcome 😀
Where did you order from?

Max: 699.99 with $100 promotional gift card
@@Dewdis_ Thanks. That is where my son ordered from. The young kids know where to shop and get the best deals.
Is that common?
you deserve a lot of Subs my man thumbs up
Thank you, I appreciate that.
(Though you did give me a bit of a scare when you said they needed Loctite on those stem bolts, I was afraid they'd gone and poured all their Loctite Red on the front wheel bearings again - the ones you have to break free to change the front tire >:( )
This time I'll be getting it from a local shop, who at least are better equipped for repairs than I am.
What a great review. Honest and great presentation.
I,ve had a change of heart,it,s a full thumb,lol
cheers.
Very detailed review, nice mate, keep it coming.
Just got one, screws had blue Loctite on about halfway up the screw. Good rec!

Glad I could help. Good call on the 48v battery, lemme know how it works out!

I'd like to say I enjoyed your thorough review.
That bit with the loud music seemed disturbing, 'though.
You're right. Audio levels need to be adjusted there. @@GingerOnWheels great video, but damn that scared me lol
Thanks for your review! I always like to check other people's opinions and experience before buying expensive things like this.
+ the quality seems high
I’m about to replace my second rear fender. I don’t jump off stuff, just dealing with north Jersey streets!!!
How all reviews should be. Good, bad, things to improve and succinct!
I'm sure it feels different breaking on the f40 vs the 9bot max.. The f40 is front wheel drive and the max is rear wheel drive.

Very good and honest review by the way 👌
Great video, just ordered one for myself. Will be taking it to work and home mostly.
Good choice! It's a solid commuter.
There is really no need to do that. Even riding these around in extreme heat poses no issue. But customization can always be fun so have at it!
