Sebby is awesome for constantly 1:29 referencing “normal people” and no sarcasm I honestly mean that. I wager 90% of viewers fall into that category and we appreciate the info! 🙌🏼
🥃 I think the Amex Plat is the best lounge Amex card, the delta lounges being included as well as non airport lounges is huge imo. I like the Delta lounge at LAX, great food and drinks
For me, the combination of AXP and Delta Reserve (business in my case) works because you get the stack with 10 and 15 entries. No knock on Delta One, but most of my flights on Delta are domestic. And they don't offer access to domestic first class passengers. The only way to get in the lounge is with the cards. As a note, I fly mostly out of DTW and the non-Delta terminal is horrible for lounge access. They have a Lufthansa lounge, but its hours are limited to Lufthansa arrivals and departures, which are pretty slim windows. I couldn't find the whiskey emoji, but that may be I just don't have the time to search through the options. :)
The Delta Reserve change that bugs me the most is that starting in January 2024, Delta Reserve card holders who buy a basic economy ticket on Delta are not allowed to access the Delta lounges! It is like Delta/Amex is penalizing you for booking a basic economy ticket with them, although you are paying the big $550 annual fee for the Delta Reserve card. You don't have that restriction with either American Airlines or United if you have their highest tier airline card! I am canceling my Delta Reserve card when the next annual fee comes due.
I think @EXPRECDJ was noting is that, if you value lounge access and premium perks, why are you booking basic economy? Why would they opt to give you something for free when you're trying to spend the least amount of money possible with them?
I think you're missing the point, Data created this problem by creating something that was unsustaif. They wanted to maximize their customers They should have created a top tier lounge for the ones who are Going to be flying. Business in hire and hire in a lower tire lounge for people who have the credit score To get the card initially and don't mind paying that five hundred and ninety five dollars a year.. A lot of people got the card for that bonus. What's the sense of having a card If I can't experience the lounge? It's not like their card gives you a whole bunch of bonuses that other cards don't without the huge Annual fee.. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up losing money. Because of the changes. $595 annual fee if they lose a 1000 customers. That's half a million dollars that they just lost all because they started something that they couldn't. Sustain. They're telling people that it's not enough that they're paying that crazy annual fee buffy but even if they're frequent fliers, choosing delta to fly the fed that they're choosing basic isn't good enough... It's not a good business model. All the money they've made over the years. They should have been investing that to build a lower tier lounges and then make a change like this. There's nothing wrong with. Having target customers, but when you make a change, it's gonna end up losing you Money because of a problem that your company made in the first place. Does that make sense??
🥃 My best lounge experience was the Polaris lounge at ORD. Fantastic space. The dining room had solid restaurant quality food and I got preferential treatment due to a perceived familial connection I had with Michael Jordan. 10/10 would recommend!
Unpopular opinion: Take PP Restaurant membership over any non-restaurant PP membership. The Restaurant food will be miles better than any Centurion lounge. Most of the time you can still hit a PP lounge after to get alcohol and food/snacks/drinks. This is my experience from SFO (from a lifetime Platinum card holder) If you're near LAX you probably need Centurion/Delta or one of the big 3 lounge access cards. I do still agree with Sebby that the Platinum can't be beat for lounge access.
AMEX Delta Reserve business card. For access to Delta Skyclub, I must purchase flight ticket on the Delta AMEX Reserve card and travel in Main Cabin or above grade. I cannot be booked in Basic Economy to have access to the Skyclub. I'm assuming since I have not found any policies regarding American Express Centurion lounge that I can still use the AMEX Delta Reserve card, even if I'm booked in a Basic Economy on a Delta flight.
🍸 I plan to get the chase sapphire reserve. I was never really interested before but my home airport is Boston. The Chase lounge is perfectly located so that will be my next card! I’m just waiting for a sweet bonus. Happy holidays! 💥
Just got the AmEx Biz Platinum card. Had a large sign up bonus for large spend. I have to replace carpet and HVAC in home so I shouldn’t have a problem meeting spend requirement sadly. Looking forward to lounge access. Only issue is my player two wife can’t join me until I hit 75k in spend. But she like capital one lounge and sleep pod chairs.
Recently found your channel and have enjoyed your videos. Thank you for the great content. Great thought on going 2nd or 3rd carrier in a Hub city. Curious your thoughts on non-Hub or ‘focus’ cities. Any opinion on a location like AUS? AA has most legs, but Delta making more of a recent push. Better to fly United? ✈️ 🥃
On a recent trip from Seattle, the Centurion. Lounge was so oversubscribed, the bathroom was very dirty, and there so many limits on access, that I went to the nearby Delta SkyMiles lounge and was pleasantly surprised. The food was better, the staffing was better, the bartenders were friendlier, and I rate the Delta lounge as a 5-top with the Centurion being a 3-middle. If I were a Black card holder, I would be very unhappy.
I’m not sure about these. I wish the Marriott has some other credit like $10/month Uber or something. The platinum I wanted to cancel but I think I justify it enough to keep it as it’s come in handy with me when I fly delta, though Im not a delta elite 🥃
Okay maybe a niche ask but do u think its worth to get a united card if flying out of EWR often? Its like 68% of all flights so maybe upgrades are too rare but i wouldnt think going for #2 spot (american) which is at like 6% would be worth?
Coffee is very cheap. Bring your best version 3 in 1. If its only coffee its not worth it. Unless, you like the food, place to have short rest and sleep, work space or you are early and have late evening flight.
🥃 Amex Platinum for sure. Though I really wish the PP membership included came with restaurant visits. How’d you like the bottles of Kavalan you picked up?
🍷The Amex issued Hilton Business card is my go-to card for airport lounge access. Unlike the personal Hilton cards, no modifications have been made to it pertaining to lounge access.
Agreed. I think some of the credit card companies had lost their way. The past few years some of the lounges regardless is Centurion, Delta whatever became Gen-Z flophouses. I remember going into a few of them the last few years where that age group was sleeping in the phone booths, all over the floors and and just disrespectful loud for what should be a quiet place to relax before the flight. Once the cards started limiting access and adding in the $75k spend deliciousness, you started to see some of the waiting lists and crowding thin out. I believe this year it really kicks in and I am looking forward to lounges returning to executive status they had 4-5 year ago with more business travelers and less of the loud flophouse crowd. Lounges should be a reward and privledge for those who EARN status.
@@chrismarcus3058the problem with the spend requirement for Amex is the opportunity cost. The 75k spend on CSR can easily net me $15k in future travel credit or towards $28k in Hyatt points. So for me, I’ll continue to spend on Chase Reserve, fly business on airlines that has lounges without partnerships with Amex or Priority Pass. I do agree with you on earned bonus. There is nothing more annoying than regularly paying $13k for a flight in Delta One then dreading the skyclub because it’s such a zoo. I just take refuge at one of the nice restaurants instead.
sebby... if you have the amex platinum and delta reserve.. and you have to get rid of one.. which one would you get rid of? put a card emoji at the end and i'll like it
Is it possible for you to create a algorithm chart with all the cards and show which partners it should be transferred to to get the best value on airfare, hotel, etc? 😅🥃
🥃I have the family as AU's on my Platinum for the lounge access but with the BS new fee for each card I'm cancelling them. I'm thinking of putting the kids and significant other on my Bonvoy Brilliant as it offers Priority Pass as well for AU's plus there's no fee for each additional card.
I have PP through the CSR and recently upgraded to a Delta Amex reserve because we fly Delta 90% of the time. We were able to get by with paying sometimes the $50 entry fee with the DL platinum so that is going away so I upgraded to the reserve and got my husband as an AU. I will be downgrading my CSR and he will be adding me as an AU so I can get the PP benefits.

I'm glad. Too many people in the lounge these days, kind of ruins the point
🥃 I'm in the PNW (PDX/SEA) so the Amex Plat/Delta Reserve is my combo of choice. It helps to get our family of 4 into the clubs.
🥃 My best lounge experience was the Polaris lounge at ORD. Fantastic space. The dining room had solid restaurant quality food and I got preferential treatment due to a perceived familial connection I had with Michael Jordan. 10/10 would recommend!

“Perceived” family connection😂 curious what that means! Glad it worked!
I just got a approval for the Amex Platinum, looking forward to traveling with it in the future and experiencing the lounges and hotel upgrades!

🥃 what’s the best LAX lounge? Delta? And what’s the best ORD lounge?
I have a Marriot Boundless with 10K CL, should I convert it to Ritz Carlton?
Thanks, Seby. Fabulous research on credit card Perks and benefits
Glad it was helpful!

🥃 Can you do a vid on priority pass restaurants? Recently got Ritz Card
Will cover in part 2!
Denver International has now separated TSA to it’s own area, can no longer use CLEAR and TSA together.
🍺
so the only way to get centurion lounge ccaccess with the platinum card is if you were flying Delta and no other airline?
No, that's Delta Sky Clubs only. Centurion lounge is any airline as long as you have the Platinum card.

Nice! Makes sense. Happy holidays to you too!
🥃 I am visiting Tokyo, Japan soon. What is the best option for lounges with AMEX in Tokyo? Thanks!
Just obtain a platinum Amex. Im still on the fence if this is the right card for me or if I should just upgrade my chase to reserve.
Just got the AmEx Biz Platinum card. Had a large sign up bonus for large spend. I have to replace carpet and HVAC in home so I shouldn’t have a problem meeting spend requirement sadly. CSR Guy over here, but their lounge in boston is awsome. Very very nice.

do platinum Authorized users get free lounge access to centurion?

I am 75 years old and only travel 2 times a year. I do first class or business class. I don't want to get a special credit card. What to do? Thank you
If I have Amex platinum. It’s better to get Bonvoy brilliant or Hilton aspire ?
Depends if you prefer Marriott vs Hilton properties.
Where is the Capital One Venture X?
Okay maybe a niche ask but do u think its worth to get a united card if flying out of EWR often? Its like 68% of all flights so maybe upgrades are too rare but i wouldnt think going for #2 spot (american) which is at like 6% would be worth?
If AA flies the routes you want, might be worth it since there’s less competition. Same reason why I went for Delta status since SFO is a United hub.
Capital One Venture X card gets you priority pass and a lot of these benefits he is mentioning for a much lower annual fee.
🥃 Grear video!
Is the Gold card not worth it now?

Do you think it is a matter of time before they do?
Thinking (hoping) the fact that's it's a business card, it'll retain its Priority Pass status.
🥃 1.) I have the Delta Amex Reserve. 2.) Still waiting on it.😊
Ritz-Carlton is the best.
Whats sad about it seems to me all the nice lounges are at air ports i can care less about lol like NY, ATL, LAX, MA ECT! SMH
It's not free and most lounges are way over crowded now.
🥃 My family of 4 is addicted to the united club. Thank you united club card!
waaassss uppp sebby
Sad that the Hilton Aspire doesn't apply to this anymore, still a great card tho imo!🥃
Agree! Bummer for people who relied on it for Priority Pass.
🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! GREAT VIDEO. Are there any lounges for Terminal 2 at SFO for Priority Pass or any of the credit cards?
Lark Creek Grill if you have a PP with restaurant access.
What is SAKS?
It’s a high end Retail Store.
Squad!
🙌
I did hear that you need to get the gold first before the platinum or you cannot get the platinum bonus. Can you confirm this?
Plot twist: Don't get the popular cards since when everyone has status no one does. Case in point Centurion Lounge in Seattle is a Zoo.
Yeah CSR in Seattle is the way to go since the 3 restaurants in there are so much less busy and a significantly better value
Agreed. I finally gave up trying to use priority pass and Amex Centurion and just bit the bullet and got the United club card.
Agreed.
