CONGRATS! I had traditional locs for 13 years before combing them out (one by one, took 5 weeks to comb them out.) Thee weeks ago I started DIY Microlocs. Took 24+ hours. Way to go! I have 225 locs (2pt rotation) way to go!
Meeeee Tooooo... about 13 yrs. I combed them and plan on getting some knotless braids. After I take my braids down I'm going to start my diy "Microlocks." Can't wait. I plan on starting my 6yr old's this month. I can't deal with the natural hair care routine.
@@brandi5200 Nine weeks ago I combed out my interlocks (nearly 400) because I took the Sisterlocks training course and after taking that course I wanted to redo my installment yet AGAIN. Right now I’m completely natural until I gain enough energy and motivation to reinstall. 😕
Update: I installed my own. Took about 2 days with breaks then an additional day and some change, splitting them to half the size. A journey. But saved coin and they look decent enough lol
I go back n forth everyday on if I wanna try it myself or pay. I'm saving the coins just in case lol. But I've watched this video multiple times for inspiration 👍🏾
Such patience! That is why stylists deserve all their prop…because I will PAY before putting myself through that! And my math is HORRIBLE. But once the grid is good, I’d teach myself maintenance.
I thought I was the only one that would take forever to ensure my parts were straight and exact. All my kids know I do not play, those parts will be completely exact!!!
By far, this is the MOST PRECISE VIDEO ON RUclips I HAVE EVVVERRRR SEEN ON THE PART TECHNIQUE. From the sq. In. Configuration to the detection of # of parts. So perfect. I wish I knew this when I started mine 5 years ago. These parts are everywhere. My start is on my channel. But the only thing you have way more than I do. The good thing about them being like this is less chance of losing them but I've never lost 1 yet & mine all different sizes.

I've been rocking freestyle mini twists for 2 years and my goal is to split them in half one more time when I finally decide to retwist them again. I want to take then all down and start with an actual grid, especially since I get so many compliments on how they look now. This is so inspiring!

Great job! I did the DIY micro braids into locs. My hair was damaged.. so it was really thin at first. I'm a year in and it's thickening up pretty well. Great for being on the go with kids and comedy. I love it... best decision for me. Maybe I'll do a video one day.

I’m binge watching microlocs videos but it seems like all you queens have thick hair. I’m a 3c-4a fine hair natural and my edges are thin😩. I’m scared I’ll look bald headed with microlocs but darn it I want them😩
It will be beautiful Queen! They will look thicker as your locs mature. My mother has very fine hair wavy hair and her locks look amazing! She hated the plucked “chicken” look after the Install but now she is so happy
I am the same way with parting. I believe having clean parts really set the foundation for a crisp grid pattern and it’s super versatile for styling. I’m currently traveling for nursing but have a week left on my contract. I’m definitely starting my locs when I go home cause I’ll have more time to really take my time on everything. I have really fine straight hair, but I've wanted locks for a few years now (mainly because my hair tangles very easily and locks will be lower maintenance). Learning how you did your own grid was something I found so helpful! It's one of the things I have been nervous about doing myself. Thank you for sharing the entire process!
@@MonaMona-fy5wk they are low maintenance when compared to having free natural hair. Not detangling every wash day, worrying about your hair behaving & holding a style etc. yes you still have to wash it & re tie like every 6 weeks but it’s low maintenance cause you can just wake up & go
I had that book! But I bought it about 10 years after I had my 1st set of locs 😅 I cut that set after 13 years and now I have micro locs (started 11/2018) I wish I had done this set in a diamond grid because I have fine hair

I had not even thought about sectioning a grid, like you have done. I don't know what I was thinking about. I use to do my own Bantu Knots with triangle parts, but my hair was much shorter. Once it started getting longer I could no longer part it myself into triangles. So I've been wearing an afro puff for like 5 years now. Which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Congratulations on your lock journey nice video showing how to part your grid right Hi myself didn't my locks didn't worry about how I was parted still turned out nice and I really love it I'm two years and and I have three hundred and twenty eight locks a lot of people stop me and ask me are they a sister locks and asks me where did I get them done and I said I did it myself but my only thing is 328 locks I have such a hard time getting them in a ponytail or braids it's a lot

Congratulations on your lock journey nice video showing how to part your grid right Hi myself didn't my locks didn't worry about how I was parted still turned out nice and I really love it I'm two years and and I have three hundred and twenty eight locks a lot of people stop me and ask me are they a sister locks and asks me where did I get them done and I said I did it myself but my only thing is 328 locks I have such a hard time getting them in a ponytail or braids it's a lot

1st let me say the Bantu knots is a style in itself baby I would have wore these to work. 2nd lol it’s too small, you got this!
