Great review. It seems the faults of his are all well known, but none of them seem to bad enough to dismiss him out of hand. Now, if I can only find him for a decent price!
Watching you struggle to transform Freedom Leader with its muted color scheme looks like an infomercial with the voiceover going like, “Are you tired of this?” I was waiting for a big red transparent “X” to slap onto the screen with a loud buzzer noise.
Really solid review Sixo. Having bought this figure when it came out, MPM-12 is a really confusing release to me. On paper it's articulation is fine, the transformation is decent, the sculpt is pretty good, but the issues it does have (The paint for the white stripe not matching in truck mode, the elbow joints moving out of place, the light-piping for the eyes when they could've just painted the bugger, the fingers looking unnatural when not a fist, the legs not really doing much when transforming to truck mode.) all come across as bizarre and unrefined for the price. It results in the figure being more like an upscaled leader class figure than what people expect of a masterpiece, even though at it's core, it's a decent toy. I can't call it bad per say, but the issues it does have are frustrating if nothing else, and doesn't really feel worth the $200 cad I spent on it. (I can't say much about Freedom Leader since I didn't buy it and complicated transformations aren't usually my thing to begin with. I will say though that I find it BAFFELING that ToyWorld didn't use any ratchet joints on the figure, considering not only how big it is, but how heavy it is with all the diecast it has.)
Your description of the joy of transformation feels like my take on Maketoys Cupola, a figure I sincerely doubt Fans Toys can top with their upcoming Chromedome. You really should review Maketoys Cupola, if you haven't. It's the pride of the MP part of my collection.
Thanks fr this, besides the cat ears, tray & forarem Purina also the weirdly fixed fingers, it doesn't look too bad. I wish they went the extra mile and made the cab Freightliner instead of Marman to match the film. Really off putting, it's like seeing Bumblebee in the movie as the VW Beetle & get a Yatis in Toy form
I'm debating on this guy, but only if he goes on sale. I'm really happy with the ThreeZero but this figure just looks like it's a fun time. Especially after the DNA upgrade kit
I think the toyworld version is more striking and impressive ... but the transformation looks like hell, the mpm version looks much more enjoyable the transformation ... what I can't accept is kitty's ears 😂
Ooh that Transformation looked pretty nice. Did have a moment of disbelief when nearly the entire front of the cab just flips out. I dunno why but I expected something a little more folded up. Does mean most of the front is nice and clean though thanks to a lack of panel lines and stuff. Might have to get this myself at some point. Did you get Masterpiece Skids of Reboost? I got Reboost and am enjoying it a bunch. Which I think you saw when I stuck Wildwheel's hat on it. Yeah that's my twitter. Not the flashiest masterpiece but a real tidy one. Terrified I'm gonna accidentally inhale the holoman though.
@@SixoTF No, I'm not joking. Version 1.0 ALMOST looks movie-model accurate in both robot and truck modes. Plus, I look forward for UniqueToys to get to work on their version of Bumblebee Movie Movie Optimus Prime.

The hands and the cat ears are the fatal flaws to me. Everything else is very nicely pulled off. I like your review! Subscribed. PS: Love that you included a comparison with toyworld's terrible figure that can barely stay together.
I love how you shoot the photos and videos when posing the figures, but don't love the sigure oh my god how is mpm 12 an official masterpiece worse than ss38
I really want to like this figure (and the forthcoming Nemesis version) but after owning several third party figures I just can't get over the swirly molded grey plastic and exposed screws all over the biceps and forearms. This figure is not worth more than $100USD new much less 2nd hand. Not to mention the DNA mod kit for another $75USD just to correct with Hasbro should have done right the first time at $175USD.
@@SixoTF You are completely entitled to freely form an opinion of your choosing in regards to this figure. It just feels to me that you're laying it on a bit thick. I mean are you getting paid or profiting from your support of this item? I just find it to be slightly underhanded when things are portrayed in the manner of "this one is good because the other is bad." A good product should stand on it's on merit without the need for pointing out the competitor's flaws. I don't know, maybe I got this all wrong. This figure may be solid but for the purpose of displaying I'd rather invest in the competitor's offerings. This figure is probably better for kids. I just can't get passed the looks. It may be the better transforming figure but a solid turd in both modes. Is that why this video needed so much time devoted to bashing the other figures? I really would not have taken issue here had the scope of this video been limited to this single figure of your choosing and let it stand on it's own.
@@andrewwhitfield5480 Wow, ok, lots of assumptions made here. Firstly, yes, I am entitled to form my own opinion. It’s my review after all. Secondly, no, I am not profiting from my opinion. I gave my honest opinion as is. I have also reviewed Toyworld products positively on this channel and elsewhere before, so the implication that I’m being paid to promote one company over the other is bizarre to me. I just liked one toy more than the other. Thirdly, no, I don’t believe I am laying it on thick. I happily pointed out the toy’s flaws alongside its positives. I even spent a fair bit of time saying what I thought was wrong with it to give a balanced view. Fourthly, I did not present it as “this one is good because the other one is bad”. Comparisons in reviews like this are an entirely normal and expected (if not demanded) thing, and it would have been strange to most people had I not included it. It also would have been disingenuous to not explain my own experience of transforming both figures, as they’re ultimately chasing the same thing but achieve very different results. Fifthly, that’s great if you prefer Toyworld. That makes no difference to my opinion, but of course some people will prefer that. My opinion is not sacred and won’t be the same for everyone, nor do I pretend as much. FWIW I did even mention some of the positives of that toy as well, even though I personally had an absolutely hateful time with it. Great if you didn’t. As for “so much time bashing the other figures” - no, it was just the one other toy that I compared unfavourably and it amounted to mere minutes of the overall review - a brief comparison at the end of the robot mode segment and again in vehicle mode. Put it in context. The focus of the rest of video was very much on the MPM toy and all of the conclusion was done on that basis too. I’d also say there is no way the MPM toy is for kids, as I’m sure you know. Finally, I have no idea why the video has triggered such a reaction, to the point where you’re genuinely asking if it’s a joke at your expense. AFAIK we’ve never interacted before. In any case, it’s just toys, dude, and I’m just offering my personal opinion on them, based on my experience of both toys. You’re very welcome to disagree - I would welcome and expect as much - but please don’t take it personally if someone offers a viewpoint that’s counter to your own, or immediately suspect that there must be some sort of ulterior, underhand motive going on because someone didn’t share the same thoughts. And again, it’s toys. Have fun with it. Hope that’s alleviated your concerns, anyway. Best.
@@SixoTF @Sixo I didn't say or imply that you were paid for the review. I made no such assumptions pertaining to you or your opinions and views. Maybe I misspoke calling this figure for kids as I meant this may be a durable figure with a more straight forward transformation making it more appealing to those who will interact with the figure on a regular basis. Look, it was nothing personal and I have no contempt or ill will against you. I acknowledged your right to form and have an opinion out of respect. Where this started being an issue for me was about the time you spoke of displaying this figure. I just couldn't help but think that for the purpose of display wouldn't you want something a bit more accurate to the figure's onscreen appearance? Regardless that doesn't matter. You like the figure, I don't, and it's okay. So again, my problem isn't with you. I want to make that clear. I shared some of my thoughts on your spoken opinions that were not positive yet that is just a difference of opinion of which I feel respect should be mutual to either you and me. My issue is an opinion but I will state it for clarity. I believe this figure to be subpar and undeserving of it's label and name. I feel that accepting products like this and praising them will only encourage the manufacture to continue releasing half baked items. I believe that as a fan and consumer I along with the community deserve a better figure than this when it comes to something as iconic as Optimus Prime. I believe when anyone in the fandom that purchases a figure such as this should receive an item worthy of our monies. I believe a figure to be in this line should more than warrant the label of masterpiece. I believe the fans, myself, and you deserve better. It is a very irritating thing for me to see third party and knockoffs be more true and accurate to the appearance of the characters in one or both modes even if they are floppy transforming figures. Even though I don't much care for the praise you've given to this thing I hope this clears things up a bit. Just because I don't like something said does not give the excuse to be disrespectful so I hope you do not feel disrespected. I usually rather enjoy your videos and hope to continue doing so. I just really do not like this figure and it being in the MP line really bothers me.
Again I can’t express enough how well made and edited your reviews are.
