Brian makes me proud to say I'm from Southern California. I remember those exciting years in the 60s, a few miles down the road from where I lived, when they, (The Beach Boys), were still living in Hawthorne and "making it big".
This may be the best six minute summary of the complexities of Brian Wilson and his life and times. Every year we hear more from Brian after all he has gone through is a blessing. Bless you , Brian Wilson.
At 4:57, one of the most magic and touching moments of modern music, the younger troubled brother welcoming his older troubled brother back to the band with a hug and a kiss. It is so genuine; too honest for words. Like the middle brother's introduction.
Dennis and Carl loved Brian. Carl once said of his brother that a sensitive man bruises easily. And for a man with so many bruises I'm happy for him, that most of his pain has subsided. This gentle artist, this great composer has influenced generations with his music. A talent so great, we are all blessed to have him and his music today live and well.
This is definitely one of the great moments in all of BeachBoy/Brian Wilson history! What an intelligent, heart-felt presentation by Art Garfunkle! Artie is without a doubt the best!! No one else could have done this so perfectly! Brought me to tears. Lord, how I love Brian Wilson!! "Bless you Brian"
5:00 mark RIP Dennis Wilson ... Who, despite his own problems always loved and supported Brian like nobody else. Dennis truly loved Brian unconditionally.
Brian Wilson stayed true to the music, putting it first, above commercialism. It's what the great ones do. The Beatles did it, too. They quit touring when it became detrimental to their music, and focused on the songs. It always works out best to focus on the "product" quality first and let the commercial aspect follow, rather than going for the money grab and hoping the product can keep up.
Brian Wilson is a genius! Period! He created a completely unique and totally new American musical genre that has not only withstood the test of time but has become more beautiful, sweeter and more enduring as the years have passed. 60 years later and it is still so joyful and fun. Thank you, Brian for this most beautiful gift. It means so much to all of us who love your music!
@@Coowallsky All greats, but sorry, not quite the Beach Boys. I've seen many of them before "Autotune", so live shows were really the test. While all were amazing in studio, as far as live harmony goes, they were as close to perfect as it goes. Eagles were closest and the Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkle, though great, were only 2 part. Oh, and you left the Beatles out. God Bless
It says a lot that in 45k + views, nobody gave a thumbs down. Thank you, Brian, for sharing with us your talent, tenacity and genuine love of music. As if the Beach Boys catalogue wasn't enough, you gave us Reimagining Gershwin and Sounds in the Key of Disney. Thank you, thank you.
THE SONG "GOOD VIBRATIONS" GAVE ME CHILLS WHEN I FIRST HEARD IT FOR THE FIRST TIME, A UNIQUE COMPLEX STRUCTURED SONG COMPARABLE TO ANOTHER UNIQUE CLASSIC; GERSHWIN'S "RHAPSODY IN BLUE"....FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR YOUR WONDERFUL MUSIC BRIAN... :)
I don't know whether you're THE Jim Webb. If so, your tribute to Brian ("truly a piece of Americana") is especially moving. JW and BW are two of the greatest American songwriters ever. I love the vocal arrangement that BW did on Linda Ronstadt's recording of JW's "Adios." It is the perfect blend of two very different styles.
BRIAN WILSON, YOU ARE NUMBER ONE IN THE MUSIC OF AMERICAN POP & ROCK LIFE, DITTO'S TO THIS TRIBUTE, YOU DESERVE THE WORLDS RECOGNITION!....... GOD ONLY KNOWS -YOU GAVE US GOOD VIBRATIONS BRIAN, WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO LET YOU KNOW.....BASK IN THE WARMTH OF THE SUN MY FRIEND!..
He took Phil Spector's Wall of Sound and recreated it into his Ocean of Sound[at somwhat of a price] But thank God Brian Is still with us.We Love you Brian , Your music and your great Beach Boys: every one of them e created such a sound, Its a big part of Americanna, No doubt about it, You changed the world, affected the Beatles,We all know the story...Rock on Beach Boys, your simply the greatest....
Looking at what he created with the limited, as compared to today, recording technology at the time, just imagine what he could have done during his prime with our current technology.
I know what you mean. During the 60s, there were no digital recording machines, and Brian had to make use of old-style analogue reel-to-reel tape recorders.
Brian disagrees with you. When it comes to music and the arts generally, God is at the heart of it. 'Music is for praising God and enlightening mankind' J.S Bach.
Art has such a calming affect and makes this tribute even more meaningful. Brian deserves truly deserves this!

One of those rarest of talents where everything he sings sounds great.

That statement brought a tear to my eye, because it's entirely true.
Love & mercy from Brian's first solo album"Brian Wilson".
Art Garfunkel has been blessed with one of the most poignant voices in popular music, and his tribute to BW was appropriate. Well done, Artie!

Creo que también debieron ponerse de pie cuando Art Garfunkel fue presentado.
The guy is amazing I’m 69 and I still love everything he does god bless you Brian Wilson
Amazing he could do what he did considering he was deaf in one ear and could not hear in stereo like we can.
He's still deaf in one ear and still cannot hear stereo, because thankfully, he's still alive.
1-derful and very deserved tribute, Brian Wilson is one of the GOAT, no doubt !!!
Bridge over troubled Genius..Brian Wilson
That spirit is still alive in the South Bay - still something special in the air.
God doesn't hum to everyone.......but we can all be sure, to Brian he does.
The mad genius. The master of harmony.

There is justice.....Brian lives, while that a-hole quack "doctor" who kept him gorked out for 30 years died a few years ago..
Because he's alive.
'Mozart'! That made him jump!
Thank God we have Pet Sounds.
And the BIG QUESTION in 63 was, is it If everybody had a notion?, or If everybody had an ocean? they'd be surfin USA.
MIKE LOVE is a genius, yessiree bub.

Was that Michael Scott in the audience? lol
Could that explain the deaf ear? :P

If God is a myth how are you breathing right now?
God is a myth. Brian is a genius alright but God isn't responsible. Peace:)
