Spinetta exploró el folk, rock progresivo, hard rock, jazz, blues, electrónica, pop y todo con un estilo propio inconfundible. La poética de sus letras se destaca también. Su obra abarca alrededor de 40 álbumes. Compiló gran parte de su carrera en un recital de 5 horas y media, durante el cual no bajó del escenario, junto con las formaciones de todas las bandas que lideró. Es el Concierto de las Bandas Eternas, del 2009, tres años antes de su fallecimiento. Es tan importante en nuestra música que el Congreso Nacional sancionó una ley que estableció el día de su nacimiento como el Día Nacional del Músico en la Argentina.

The music Spinetta made while with Invisible is my favourite from him, but that's just personal taste. He was an amazing musician, another Argentinian legend.
I think both Spinetta and Charly García, having been active at the same time in the same place during such important time for modern music, are directly responsible for why Argentina has had such an important and prolific music scene in rock and rock adjacent genres.

By the way, the song is about a child that was condemned by the "February Devil" to be an animal, an "old white dog". Spinetta says at the end that in some way he was forgiven, since he don't have to be a cold and starving kid anymore.

I think Spinetta was one of the first rockers in Argentina to sing in spanish and made all argentinians rockers realize that they could sing in spanish. Maybe I am confusing him with someone else, but this was on of his most important things... and also... thats not his biggest deal since he was using sutch an unortodox guitar chords and everything else he was doing.

😮Hi Mark , I have been watching some of your reaccions and enjoy them quite a lot, from this band I suggest you Suspensión, one of the BEST riffs I heard, the song is quite creative too. A good riff from a group before Invisible is Post crucifixion by Pescado Rabioso a group Luis Alberto Spinetta formed before Invisible..increíble that 50 heard later we can still rock with him. Is good to see people from different cultures appreciating and enjoying argentine music.
Obviously, Brazil has enormous artists but you probabbly shouldn't try to establish higher or lower grades in terms of "sophistication" of the lyrics if you are not familiar with either portuguese or spanish languages.
You must consider that, if the music is so elaborated, conplex, "sophisticated", it could move the listener to imagine the same level of poetry in the lyrics... well... that's the case in argentine music, at all genres (with it's exceptions, of course); no other spanish speaking country (and a vast majority of others in the globe) has the variety, conplexity and deepness in music and lyrics, which is sad when you cannot understand a half of the artwork.
Believe me, it's not to compose a melody and then add it some verses; not in argentine music; they take it as a whole at the same time.
So... if you listen good argentine music, believe me that the lyrics are at the same level, if not higher in sone cases...

Congratulations: you have just heard the most powerfull songwriter of entire XXth century. Spinetta has been messianic. The true enlightment in music. Try with "El anillo del capitán Beto" of the same album or the earlier "Cantata de puentes amarillos" from 1973 under the name of "Pescado Rabioso" althaugh is a Spinetta's solo album. PS: His lyrics are better than anyone, are codes to enlightment, still not decoded and still being interpretated. Cheers from BA !
We don't know why you compare the Brazilian musician and poet Chico Buarque with Luis Alberto Spinetta, both are very good composers but diametrically different styles and also DIFFERENT languages, one speaks Portuguese because he is Brazilian and Spinetta speaks Spanish because he is Argentine. Spinetta is also a brilliant poet and that made him notable above the other musicians of that time.
About your final words on languages. Ok, Argentinians in general do not speak the same Spanish/Castilian as in Spain or other countries because we use a lot of slangs but it is far from even resembling Portuguese.
I was saying, I got the two languages confused because they sound the same to me, and I forgot which country spoke which language! It was just a silly mistake by me that I was trying to explain ☺️

Here the language is RIO DE LA PLATA SPANISH and the storyline for the lyrics IS also brilliant as the musicianship and singing---Agreed that LUIS ALBERTO SPINETTA along with CHARLY (and I can continue adding artists) are among the world´s top ten of all time, only with the downside of having been born in the Third World...
And this is just beginning friend!!! Spinetta's world is a one-way trip, let's go for more... Spinetta, an idol from Argentina, Mad Fish, Invisible, Spinettajade were some of his bands, in addition to an incredible solo career, rock, hard rock, progressive, jazz, one of them. Also, if you are into voice, I recommend Tonolec singing "Antiguo dueño de las flechas", because she uses an indigenous style of singing that could be considered out of tune according to western standards, but she makes it sound pretty. Kind of like a Bjork of South America.

If you are going to compose a song thinking about your dog, it is a good idea to compose THE song. At least that's what Spinetta must have thought and so he did.

No sé si me explico bien, esas guitarras junto con el bajo, es perfecto como dan una sensación de flotar, o algo así jajaja
