Hi mark, i hope you can read me. Charly was legaly a piano teacher when he was 12 years old, he is our hero yes, but is more than that, for me is a frustation, because he has the same creativity than mccartney, is the same human specie haha, but is not famous (outside latam), like, this song is a masterpiece but if you listen "hipercandombe" from la maquina de hacer pajaros (charlys band) or "eiti leda" from seru giran, "inconsciente colectivo", "seminare", "ojos de video tape" and tons of sublime songs, you will discover something like a lost south american beatle haha. one last thing, charly is not only a brilliant songwritter, he make music back in the dictatorship years when thousands of people were murdered. he is our hero for that, never close his mouth, and talk about this things in his songs. i mean, he really deserves to be shared whit the world, i say this to lot of youtube music chanels, i hope a few will heard more about charly. thank for read! :)
As a professional musician myself, I am always in awe of both their ridiculous technical abilities, and the sheer beauty and complexity of the compositions. One of the few groups were each musician was truly an absolute master of their instrument.
That bass is Pedro Aznar. He was super young at the time, trying his damnedest to channel Jaco Pastorius and, I think we can agree, largely succeeding at it. Later he went on to play as a multi instrumentalist with Pat Metheny.
So many world class music bands from Argentina, not known by many beyond the frontiers. Now we have the power to access to most of the music from any part of the world and it's wonderful. Good to see you react to Seru Giran. If you like what you just heard, there's lots more to discover. Have a good trip!
Yes! "Ah, te vi entre las las luces" is so good! It's a pity that whole album has the singing so low in the mix, I think it would sound even better with the voice a bit louder like in a normal production
Welcome to Argentina!! You don't know yet but you just fell into the rabbit hole and you're about to discover the hidden treasure of argentine music; a marvelous landscape of arts and talent. Argentine music, in every genre is world class, since decades is at the top in creative artists, songwriters and musicians, many of which you know their work without knowing that they're argentines, at all. Pop, rock, blues, melodic, folklore, tango, classical, hip hop... you just name the genre and you'll be amazed, for sure!!! Welcome again, enjoy the journey.
Pink Floyd??? No man, this is Tango!! with some rock and jazz and more... This song is a tribute to Piazzolla (you should listen to his Tango sessions to understand) and to the old Argentine musicians who gave way to this new era of rock. On the other hand, it is a true “lesson” of good music. Your reaction is very good. Greetings!’ 👋
thanks mate! I love your face listening to our "classical" music...! Glad that you´re enjoying... spread the music! Fun fact: there was no autotune in that time! They actually sang well!!!
I was eight when this came out. This song has a 5m3s musical intro that pays tribute to classical and tango, among other genres. Getting multiple radio air time for a 9m29s song was not easy. Charly was a virtuoso pianist from a very young age and could have stayed in classical music. Fortunately, he unleashed his full creativity in the progressive, rock, and pop music world. The drummer Oscar Moro left us too soon because of struggles with addiction. Pedro Aznar remains one of the world's best bassists, and David Lebon's acoustic and electric guitar, plus his voice are amazing. Aznar and Lebon continue to perform to this day.
Hello friend, great reaction!!! Seru Giran is for me the best Argentine Rock band... Charly Garcia... Pedro Aznar (fretless bass) and David Lebon are singers and multi-instrumentalists... that's why the choirs are so great... I recommend a reaction to the song "Noche de Perros" by Seru Giran (album "La Grasa de las Capitales") Pink Floyd style with anthological bass and guitar solos... greetings from Argentina!!!
I recommend other Argentine progressive rock bands... Crucis (song "Pollo Frito")... Invisible (songs "Encadenado al anima and irregular”) this is for starters, there are many more bands!... I know you'll like you're going to love it... regards
The bass sounding like a trumpet is Pedro Aznar, who was the only non-huge, non-consacrated artist when the band was formed, and was 17-18 when the band formed, and 20-21 at the time of this recrding. One of the finest musicians our contry has given, no doubt. When the band broke it was because he went to study at berklee, and when Charly Garcia was asked if the band was gonna go on without Pedro, he said "to replace Pedro we'd need 10 bassists!"
Mark, first thank you, big like. Second, te bass player Pedro Aznar was 21 years old when this album was recorded. That close section is unreal. Cheers from Argentina!
The world is discovering little by little through the massiveness of the Internet the quality of Argentine rock music, as is happening with urban music of this time. Thirty or forty years later, the recognition comes late, but it comes.
Hello friend!, you are beginning to listen to and enjoy this impressive group of Argentine musicians capable of playing all types of musical scores, although all of them have dedicated themselves, almost completely, to rock in all its nuances. Serú Girán, shows us the mastery of his compositions performed by guys like Pedro Aznar, for example, on fretless bass, whose services were requested by another international star to be part of his jazz fusion group, none other than the Pat Metheny Group . Anyway, another Argentine national rock group, what else to say! A big hug from Buenos Aires.
Great reaction Marquitos (you have earned that name by now) 😆, I'm happy you are enjoying discovering Latinamerican music, it's fun and interesting to watch someone hearing all these classics for the first time.
I'm glad that you are open to the music and not feel deterred by the spanish lyrics, wich is probably the reason this music never got to Europe in the first place. I commend you for that.
Hello friend, greetings from Argentina! Seru giran, was one of the great Argentine bands, you will find many songs that will fill your soul with musical notes! a big greeting!
The bass player Pedro Aznar was 19 when he started in Seru i think was in his 20s in this song but he played the fretless bass in a way i love it so much. You should check Madre atomica (atom mother yes like Pink Floyds) or Alas of him. He is from other world im so glad i got to see him in a concert
Saludos.
Hi Mark, the classic rock bands from argentina (70´s, 80´s, 90´s) are unbeateables, but there are some new rock bands that are killing it. Next reation should be to Eruca Sativa - MAgoo

When I was a young boy, the first time I started listening to Serú, I thought Pedro's bass playing was another instrument. It was mind-blowing.
Bass Fretless = Pedro Aznar. Percusión = Oscar Moro. Guitarra = David Lebon. Teclados = Charly.
Pedro Aznar's bass🔥
The best
That bass is Pedro Aznar. He was super young at the time, trying his damnedest to channel Jaco Pastorius and, I think we can agree, largely succeeding at it. Later he went on to play as a multi instrumentalist with Pat Metheny.

As a argentinian who lived trough Serú Giran era, is really

Hello Mark, Argentine rock clearly has influences from many genres, but it will always, always have a bit of Argentine folklore and tango.
The world is discovering little by little through the massiveness of the Internet the quality of Argentine rock music, as is happening with urban music of this time. Thirty or forty years later, the recognition comes late, but it comes.
