- A driver led CHP officer on a high-speed pursuit through the valley before zig-zagging through traffic and crashing into the median on the 405 Freeway, Wednesday morning.
Reporter: "Oh my gosh that's horrible". Actually that is a perfect ending.
If I was that Infiniti that stopped to check out the crashed car I wouldve yelled out "HEY! YOU CANT PARK THERE!"
Dude ran out of talent. Honestly wasn't even that difficult of a maneuver. More $ than brain cells.

About 10+ years ago, I was driving on I-80 from Reno to Sacramento when a Dodge Challenger sped past me on a curve, fish-tailed, spun around 360, sideswiped and bounced off the jersey barrier. I barely avoided the collision with the out-of-control car. My mother was a passenger and she insisted that we stop and check to see if the occupant(s) were OK. I said *"HELL NO"* and, in a tight squeeze to avoid the car and its debris on the road, I drove past the single-car crash.. My mother scolded me for NOT stopping and giving aid; and I did feel a little guilty. After watching this video, I think I made the right decision, but there is an urge to be a good Samaritan when something like this happens and you're a witness.
Call it in and move on. If they didn't know the risk they need to learn that lesson.
Had a similar issue occur in Indiana, some kid got impatient because I was "only" going five over the posted limit, tried to cut me off and swerved off the side of the road hit a dirt incline and went all Dukes of Hazard over a 30 foot embankment. Fortunately he landed wheels up, spun around a few times and got perfectly wedged in between two trees and had to climb out through the trunk. I stopped to see if he was hurt and all he could do was freak out about what his dad was going to do to him while his GF kept apologizing for him being so reckless and thanking me for using my cell to call the cops and a wrecker.
Word to the wise kiddies and adult kiddies, while you may think a car is an extension of your ego and or body parts, it is stupidly easy to loose control on a perfectly dry surface because you CHOOSE to drive like an ass. I can assure you, those 30 seconds you might save whipping around someone who isn't impeding traffic is NOT worth it.
If the driver has a firearm you could be taken hostage along with your vehicle !

Yeah probably was a guy driving his pregnant wife to the next hospital after she went into labor suddenly. Wife and toddler died due to lack of immediate help. Don't listen to your mom and just go on.

Like they want to detain him, yet they smash his door close (assuming the windows are heavily tinted, the cop doesn't have a clear view of the suspect for 1-2 seconds). Then instead of doing the simple of opening the door, they break the window and open the door like normal

Just goes to show you shouldn't stop to render aid to a stranger on the highway because you have no idea who it is. They could end up carjacking you next to continue getting away.

That's not always true.
This thinking is why US is considered the land of greed and selfishness... No not saying it's okay and always safe to do so. I however think we should always try and give aid when possible but be cautious don't just get off leaving your car on, stop at a dark road, get off to help when it's 3-4 people there... like try and help but just don't be "dumb" ex: leaving your car on when putting gas in it... or leaving valuables in your car when parked in main street...

Looked like the slam into the wall was deliberate, couldn't see him steer away until almost at impact but yeah suspension becomes jelly at those speeds. Court system over there seems so broken that these people just do this for a fun high.
Edit: on looking back it looks like the left front brake maybe locked up and the dudes reaction froze? they'd get pretty spicy and sticky

This driver was a complete idiot because the cops had ended this chase and were a mile behind him. He didn't need to drive 130 miles per hour to get away from them.

Many years ago I was in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway minding my own business going 5-10mph over the limit. The road was empty, I noticed someone approaching at a high rate of speed behind me. He was approaching fast and was close so I didnt want to change lanes for fear he would change at the same time. He approached in the middle lane and passed on the right. I think he was trying to scare me. Anyway he waited very late to swerve and his car began to make a seies of fishtales finally colliding with the concrete center divider head on. His drivers window was open and as I passed I yelled nice move A++++++. and kept on going. Sometimes you like instant karma

Unfortunately, there are way too many cars on the road in California compared to Arkansas. If CHP yeeted cars off the highway like they do in Arkansas, there is far too much potential for collateral damage and lawsuits. I'm sure in more rural areas in California, they probably don't hesitate, but its not as newsworthy.

Sadly, that is an easily survivable crash.
Notice how it took so long for the CHP to finally get to the car? Because, here in LA, CHP/LAPD/etc ... are usually only "allowed" to pursue a chase vehicle for "a certain amount of time". Reason being is because so many accidents have happened because of these pursuits. Many times, not all the time, drivers get away without consequence. All that being said, I am glad this guy was apprehended. Mostly, I am glad he didn't cause damage or injury to anyone one. W for the CHP.
