I mostly use them for running / cycling and can’t recommend them enough. The audio quality is surprisingly good and they are considerably cheaper than the Bose.
You missed the point of open back headphones. They are not made for you to hear the world around you better, but for actual sound quality. Closed back headphones are sealed, which prevents air from coming through and that can make the sound feel less airy and natural, with a narrower soundstage. Open back headphones resolve this issue, with a drawback of having no noise insolation.

I think a bigger benefit of open back over the transparency is comfort. They are more breathable in general and they don’t have that “pressure” suction kinda effect. And then for some people earwax, or sweat can be an issue and open backs help with that too by being more breathable. Or in the case of earphones, by not pushing stuff in and being in direct contact with skin.
The Bose ones have multipoint Bluetooth if you update the software. They are also amazing for running and biking. Just be careful if you’re in some heavy rain.
I've been wearing the Aftershock temple vibration ones for 4 years and my absolute favorite. Ear buds make my ears sweaty or give me claustrophobia so those have been incredible. I also forget they are on cause they are so light and comfy.
I think the open ear headphones are more to give a different sound stage and a better feel for the multiple sounds in a song than to ear the outside world. Try them on a quiet room and compare the sound stage between close and open ones

I use the Bose ultra open everyday. Great comfort and secure fit. Sometimes leaning over an AirPod has fallen out onto the floor. Never with these. The huge benefit besides open air for safety as a pedestrian etc is no more replaceable tips/ cramming something into my ear all the time or having to clean and replace tips on other in ears. That adds another dimension of comfort and really long battery life too. Strange concept I thought might be a gimmick but in real world use big fan of this style.

Even if transparency mode is perfect, it drains battery. You can't get a good stand-by duration with transparency mode engaged. So while modern headphones are more versatile today, they can't truly compete with the transparency of open headphones. I'd love to see more development go into open in-ear headphones similar to the Bose ultra.
