    Bing Bong Related Spoilers:
    Honestly, up until Bing Bong started fading away in the dump, I actually thought that the writers were going to set him up as the villain (or sympathetic anti-villain ) of the film. When he first appeared in the film taking long term memories, & then again when they put so much emphasis in the moment where Joy handed him the core memories, I assumed that he had some ulterior motive to take control of Headquarters to either get revenge on Riley for abandoning him or so that they can play together again like they used to when she was younger. I was honestly surprised with how they actually handled Bing Bong in the movie, & it made his sacrifice all the more emotional for me.

      @andrewgoeing2701 6 лет назад +106

      I'm not sure if you can hear me, but if it's any consolation, while Bing-Bong was never a villain, some early drafts had him as an anarchist who would fight against any attempts to have Riley grow.

    Unlike you, Joy is actually tied for my favorite character in the film (the other one is, who else, Anger). I love the fact that she's a flawed character with good intentions without being frustrating to watch, and her constantly optimistic attitude is really infectious without being irritating. Basically, she makes a better Pinkie Pie than Pinkie Pie, who constantly falls into the "irritating" category.
    On a side note, this is my new favorite movie of all time.

    Apparently, the only reason the parents' emotions were all one gender was for "easy readability", whatever that means. And all of Riley's emotions save Disgust were intended to be the gender they are in the film before they even got to casting. The only reason they ultimately made Disgust female was because Mindy Kaling was so right for the role.

    • @sarasamaletdin4574
      @sarasamaletdin4574 9 лет назад +25

      Yeah but why originally Pixar intended to have 3 male emotions and 2 female in a girls head? It seem more logical that could have been all female unless it was a commentary on gender identity (or they thought there should be more male characters in the film).

    • @ThePonderer
      @ThePonderer 9 лет назад +56

      All I know is with the exception of Disgust, the emotions where based on what gender they thought was most fitting independent of Riley. Anger felt like a natural choice to be masculine, Sadness feminine etc.

    • @invock
      @invock 8 лет назад +63

      I'd say those mixed gender are an UNINTENDED commentary on gender identity.
      Yes, as an artist you can, and actually you will very often add unintended meaning to a work of art. Sometimes inconsciously, sometimes by overlooking, sometimes by total (?) randomness.
      And I absolutely root for this one. It is a perfect way to explain to children that some people have a more masculine or feminine approach of the world, and that this perception can evolve differently with time.

    Two thoughts:
    1) Bing Bong's...sacrifice didn't make me cry. However the scene right before he disappeared DID.
    2) Pay attention to which emotion controls each human's thoughts. It's easy to see why the dad needed anger to be a firm head of the household, and it is easy to see why a child would put happiness before the other emotions, but why is the MOTHER'S main emotion sadness?

    • @josebarrozo7620

      I have also heard theories that the dad is struggling with anger issues and the mom depression

    • @vamp8753
      @vamp8753 6 лет назад +63

      I have a theory that the main emotions of a character in this movie's universe change according to what phase they're in/gender, and what phase someone close to them is. The dad did need to be the firm head of the household. It's usually the male's job to put order in things. Therefore, he has anger as a lead emotion in that phase of his life, where he is a father.
      For the mother, I think her lead emotion is sadness because a pure, innocent child starting such a hard phase is heartbreaking. Especially mood swings, where the child gets angry at their parents and stuff. I think that's why. Sadness' calm attitude also would make sense to why she's the mother's main emotion.
      And yes, a child's main emotion should indeed be happiness. Children are pure. They are innocent. They don't know about all the horrors of the world yet. They are nice. Until teenagehood comes along. And the child tries to stay positive.

I went back to my hometown around the time the movie came out to visit my sister (who stayed behind when we moved). I cried TWICE during this film. Once at Riley's birth, and second at... the destruction of Goof-off Island. Why? Because her birth was amazingly set up (although HOW WOULD WE SEE RILEY'S FACE WITHOUT A MIRROR? That cinematic trope has always bugged me.) and the latter touches me DEEP and I mean DEEP. SO DEEP it's sentimental. That loss was my reminder of a losing a part of my sister due to... anxiety. Oh how I loathe it.

    I can see what you mean on the movie trying too hard in some places to be sad, but I'm feeling that it has a bit to do with how invested you are with the character. But, that's just how I see it. Also, am I the only person whose favorite character is Disgust? She was amazing and had some great witty lines!
    Spoilers!
    The facts vs. opinions joke was easily my favorite of the whole movie:
    "I can't tell which is fact or opinion, they look the same!"
    "Don't worry about them being mixed up, it happens all the time!"

    • @gortab
      @gortab 9 лет назад +37

      Golden Stripes I loved Disgust too, with Fear being a close second. Though I think that might just me loving that Pixar made a female fashionista character, named her Disgust, and gave her a very well-defined and useful job.
      I mean, we all know too many cynical works of television that have teen girls being one-dimensional characters obsessed with 'fashion' as if their whole job in life was to use credit cards to buy some ambiguous 'fashion items' at the mall.
      Then, we get these rare gems like Rarity who is an artist. A character who has a defined job dealing with fashion who makes good looking items for people (or ponies) to wear.
      Now, we have Disgust who's job is outright to protect a person from physical or social poison. She doesn't just pick out clothes because "She's a girl and likes shoes" she works by picking clothes that will help Riley get along with the people around her. If she's picky with food, it's not just because "Girls are always watching their weight" it's because her job as an emotion is to keep Riley from eating anything that might make her sick (or unhealthy).
      Though even that isn't a hard rule since her initial thoughts on Broccoli were "This is neither colorful, or shaped like a dinosaur... it's poison!" which gets quickly bypassed by Dad doing the airplane trick and getting Joy in the drivers seat.
      Honestly... I wouldn't mind if they made a TV or book series out of this and even tossed in a few Very Special Episodes where the emotions have to deal with things like peer pressure or drugs. Because it seems like Disgust would play an important role in alot of those plots. Would she go along with peer pressure because her job is to avoid social poison? Would she veto any attempt at drug use because "Drugs are gross and we don't want to hang with those crowds!"
      I mean, it's unlikely to happen, but any series that involves a broccoli-green fashionista has my interest!

      Graham Kristensen there difference there is that, well, by the third they told the whole story. the told the story of what toys go through as their owners grow up, and ultimately they are given the chance to start over again when their old owner gave them to another child.
      making a fourth movie makes no sense ultimately. it might make sense in terms of a popular product, but as a story i cannot see where they could go. they might surprise me, but otherwise, not sure. will they find another story or rehash it? i hate rehashes to be honest, they are just telling the same story twice.
      if there is one story that has the potential for more stories, its having an incredibles 2 movie. focus it more on the kids and shtuff.

    For the gender identity question I refer you to "107 facts you should know about Inside Out." I think creators did it for individuality reasons and there wasn't anything deeper behind it. However I think it unintentionally serves to show the unstable nature of the minds of children. It's not so much gender identity, but identity as a whole. Adults usually know what they like, dislike and who they are. This control of individualism is taken on by the developed brain and the concurring emotions. So as Riley grows and becomes more stable in who she is, the emotions will conform to her identity, rather than each emotion remaining simplistic and separated, they will all truly work together in unity.

    Most reviewers I see on YT these days tend to have their critical talent heavily leaning on one side or the other (Like when really caustic critics sound bored halfhearted or are just not entertaining when talking about good stuff, or vice verca), but you can pull off both sides equally well.
    Seriously, only thing that's stopping me from Patreon-ing you is financial instability, and that annoys the hell out of me, because goddamn it, you deserve it.
    Keep on being awesome, ya hear?

    I'm just as tickled as anyone over Lewis Black as Anger, but I think the best casting choice was Amy Poehler as Joy. Joy is basically Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, in that both are aggressively chipper and optimistic, and they're both massive control freaks.

    Personally, although I tear up every time I've seen this movie so far, it's at odd places, I guess. I've always enjoyed both sweet and bittersweet moments, so
    [SPOILERS]
    The first memory strikes me as sweet and makes a little tear appear. Later, when Sadness and Joy work together to create Riley's first bittersweet memory, it hits my bittersweet nerve and brings a tear because I understand that feel so well. Also it's just a beautiful sequence.

    Actually the reason for the parents emotions being of one gender was actually for easy recognition and focus. If you think about it, the parents head was used for a quick joke. If each emotion in the parent's head was different, in either gender or attire. If they did the audience's attention would focus on the individual emotions appearances, rather than what they are doing. Since a fraction of a second is the difference between a joke being funny or not, it would cause the audience to either not pay attention to the joke, or miss the timing for the joke. This is also the reason why their emotion's all act in the same manner at the same time. That way no matter which emotion the audience was focused on the moment the entire audience would be on the same page regarding the mood the scene was conveying.

    One thing I noticed and found unique while watching this movie was how Sadness's favorite memories are of when Riley is older. Joy's favorite memories are of when Riley was younger. This shows Sadness has accepted that Riley is older and more mature now, and she knows what Riley needs to mature and become happier. Joy, however, hasn't accepted that Riley is older and needs to mature and she keeps trying to recreate Riley's past happy memories, when she was younger and a lot less mature. Sadness helps show Joy that Riley is older now, and that she is going to become a new person than she was before and that Joy needs to help her along that journey rather than try to shun her from it and continue on the path she is on now as a person. All in all, BEST MOVIE VERY POWERFUL!

    I found that, while that crying scene was too long, it was sadder than the next sad scene. Maybe because I kind of assumed it was going to happen, but just the reality of who was crying and why really hit me. I didn't cry though, but it really made me feel for the character. Also, the little details of Riley's mind maturing were a treat to see.

    I really loved Joy's character because she reminded me of Woody. I remember when I first saw Toy Story as a child many years ago, Woody became one of my all time favorite characters. Why? Because of the flaws he had. Toy Story was one of the very first movies I saw in theaters and that moment when he realizes he was wrong and is ready to sacrifice himself touched my little six year old heart so deeply it stuck with me for so many years.
    Although the whole problem of the movie comes from the fact that Joy tries to force Riley to be happy when in fact, she needs to be sad, (and lets not forget how she treats Sadness, my favorite character from the movie), she too realizes where she went wrong and is ready to risk everything to make things right again. And seeing the embodiment of Joy and Laughter breaking down crying was really heartbreaking for me.
    (plus I love the fact she plays accordion....don't know why but it still makes me laugh)

    This movie came out at exactly the right time for me. I was going a through a difficult time dealing with stress in school, the idea of going to uni, leaving home and just extreme stress overall. Throughout all of this, I was trying to put on a brave face and deal with it on my own, but after seeing this movie (not kidding) as soon as I got home and went into my room and broke down completely. Probably the best thing I've ever done since I've been able to get help and things are a lot better for me. I'm glad I saw this movie when I did.

    (Spoiler Warning)
    I feel like kind of an ass because I wasn't really emotionally affected by Bing Bong's death. Like, yeah, it was depressing. The whole movie was depressing. But really it didn't make me cry. I was actually more getting tugged at the heartstrings by everything that was going on with Riley. Especially after Joy wasn't around.
    It's not that I hate Bing Bong or anything like that though. I just...didn't care all that much about him. To be frank, he just didn't keep my interest all that much, so I really couldn't garner up the need to cry. And honestly, I only cried like once during the whole movie and it was actually during that extremely heartfelt moment at the ending where Riley reconciles with her parents.
    So, I don't know. I liked the emotions well enough. Sadness and Anger were actually probably my favorites with Fear close behind. But I think the whole movie got more of an emotional response from me whenever I saw what Riley was going through. She was probably the most sympathetic character and just seeing her slowly falling apart was probably the hardest thing for me to get through during the movie.

I kinda wish they did a lot more with the areas they visited, like connections between each of them, and how they affected Riley I guess. And while I did like Bing Bong, there were parts where he just really frustrated me (I mean, yeah that was the point, but still). But honestly, when that rocket ship fell into the cavern and Bing Bong started crying I was just like... oh my god... am I crying? Oh no. Oh noooo.. Okay if you thought that the Joy crying scene was weird, you should note that it was JOY who was crying. Realizing at that moment how important sadness was to be felt. Without sadness, joy would not exist. Riley needed to feel sadness to be at peace with her current trauma and dare I say depression of moving to San Francisco when she finds out that it's not really up to her expectations. It's a portrayal that the emotions CAN be mixed together and that we don't feel emotions exclusively.

    Though i do want to point out something in particular in the movie. you said that the father does not act this way at any other part of the movie. IT is true. But a reason is given. He was very stressed, to put it mildly. the move was a botch, there were financial issues at his job, and likely he was trying to distract himself from the drama at the workplace. Thus he was very short with his daughter because he was busy with his own issues and did not realize that something was wrong with her.
    Of course what makes it a good moment is that aftewards he realized his mistake and tried to comfort his daughter.

    When I first watched the movie, I didn’t think much of it. I really only saw it as a fun Pixar movie and how annoying Joy was. But when I finally got to dissect it in my psychology course, I was blown away.
    I never realized how much I truly related to Riley, and how similar her story was to mine. Moving to a knew school and losing her friends, falling into a depression and anxious period, and running away from home. I felt for this movie so much so that I cried in class when the scene came where she returned home, not because I felt for the character, but because it reminded me of myself.
    Riley didn’t mean to hurt her parents by running away, but she did. She was anxious and wanted nothing more than to go back to where she grew up. She couldn’t accept the change, so she tried to reverse it. I did the same thing. But she wasn’t a bad person for doing this, she was a child who was lonely and felt that no one could understand.
    Granted, I do still think Joy is annoying, but I love how well the movie portrays these situations and the other emotions, especially when it came to depression. It’s not just being sad, it’s lack of joy or really emotion at all. And I appreciate them for representing that.

    On the contrary, according to one of the "things you didn't know about Inside Out" videos I've seen, the filmmakers explained that they would have preferred the Mom and Dad to have multi-gendered, but they didn't for easier readability of the characters, or something like that.

      Honestly, Cellspex strikes me as sort of the SJW type. Granted, she's *nowhere* as bad as the more infamous examples like Anita Sarkeesian and Chanty "Big Red" Binks, but it really annoys me how she tries to look for sexism everywhere, and claims the lack thereof is revolutionary when she sees it. Like, how is this film in any way original with its lack of romance? Has she never watched any show with a female protagonist, ever? _Punky Brewster_ , _Daria_ , _Mona the Vampire_ , _Kim Possible_ , _The Buzz on Maggie_ ... sure, they do have romance plots here and there, some better than others, but for the most part they just focus on the character being themselves and getting into all sorts of trouble.
      Also, what if the woman is the dominant one in the relationship? Like with Daria's parents, for example? This whole "don't need a man" BS is the reason why so few women propose, and it's usually left up to the man - because women are taught if they want to be strong and independent, they need to just avoid relationships with men. But what if she *wants* to be with a man, and still be independent?

    • @miimiiandco
      @miimiiandco 4 года назад

      @@ARCtheCartoonMaster I think her experience is different to yours - assuming you're male. Also, you'd be surprised how many romance subplots there are in things that really didn't need them - Or with a character having chemistry with someone of the opposite gender - in most films:
      Most, if not all, Disney Princess movies.
      Hercules
      Cars
      Cars 2
      Toy Story series
      Despicable Me 2
      Hotel Transylvania series
      The Emoji Movie
      Mr. Peabody and Sherman - arguably
      Wreck It Ralph (Fix It Felix Jr. and Calhoun - sorry if I butchered the spelling)
      Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - arguably (haven't seen in years)
      The Lion King - arguably (I don't know much about this)
      The Lego Movie - arguably
      As well as this, romance isn't sexist - it's harmful to both genders to protray what is an arguably important part of life incorrectly - it's less about objectifying and more about poor life advice - which could also be applied to another thing...
      I trust that Inside Out is indeed an outlier - not following tropes is seen as a positive in most media, and romance is a trope.

    • @ARCtheCartoonMaster
      @ARCtheCartoonMaster 2 года назад +1

      @@miimiiandco So then why is it that now that _Turning Red_ is out, everyone’s pretending that female characters have *never* been interested in guys, and are praising it for depicting girls getting horny over guys? I think the feminists just praise these same tropes in movies they like, and bash on them in movies they don’t like, kind of like how animation critics bash on _Breadwinners_ and _Teen Titans Go_ for overuse of toilet humour while giving _The Lion King_ a pass thereon.
      Also, even going as far back as 1881, there was a comic opera about a young asexual/aromantic woman. She even has a whole song about how she doesn’t get what love is, or why anyone would be interested in it. It’s called _Patience_ , if you’re curious, and it’s from Gilbert & Sullivan, the same guys who did _HMS Pinafore_ , _The Pirates of Penzance_ and _The Mikado_ (among others).
      Also, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid having tropes in a work of fiction. Even if you avert or subvert some tropes, you’re never going to catch all of them. Maybe you’re thinking of clichés? Because it’s a subtle, but important distinction.

    "oh original extraordinary pixar films I've missed you" is one of the first things that she says. I find that ironic because this movie is neither original (a blatant copy of osmosis jones) or extraordinary (the movie is beautiful but doesn't even compete with other previous pixar movies).

    • @zorana90x98
      @zorana90x98 8 лет назад +6

      First off, she meant "original" as in, the first film made by Pixar in a while that wasn't a sequel or prequel. Second, you're calling Inside out a rip-off of Osmosis Jones? I find that argument hard to take seriously because, not only has the concept of Osmosis Jones been done before that movie existed, but both movies focus on completely different bodily functions, Osmosis Jones being immune systems and fighting diseases, and Inside Out being emotions. As for Inside Out being as good as Cell makes it out to be, that's entirely subjective, and saying she's wrong for saying it's extraordinary is really not a good argument.

    Riley is essentially one of those people who force themselves to be happy all the time because they think that is what is best and they do not allow themselves to deal with their other emotions, particularly sadness, in a healthy effective way. The movie is about Riley's journey to deal with the emotion she can't connect with. I feel like this is a great way to show children, especially with a personality similar to joy's that it is ok to feel sad and feeling sadness is healthy. All emotions are valid and need to be managed, not suppressed.

    When I was about ten I moved basically across the country for the second time in my life and I'm not gonna lie. It felt like my whole life was falling apart. For a while whenever I thought of my old home all I wanted to do was cry, even when I though about my happy memories. No matter how hard I tried to look at things in a positive light I still couldn't stop the tears from falling. It probably didn't help that I hated my new school for several different reasons and had a hard time making friends there. Things eventually got better, but it took a while. Fast forward a couple years and I'm watching Inside Out for the first time. And let me say that I honestly sympathised with Riley so much, because that was me when I was ten. Desperately trying to stay positive and deal with my new situation when all I wanted to do was cry and go home. So ya, Inside Out hit really close to home for me.
    Sorry, just felt like I needed to say this.

    I'm crossing my fingers for the emotions representing gender fluidity in a still developing child. That was my take on it. It's probably not the reason why. But that's how i like to think about it c:

      That's what my friend and I thought, even though the other commenters said that that wasn't intended... But it always could happen if a sequel is made. As controversial as the topic of transgenders and whatnot in children's media is, it would still make a pretty good challenge for the emotions.

      *****I don't think it's so much gender fluidity as her emotions taking on the form of her parents, or what she imagines an emotion to be like (if that makes sense).
      Joy = Female and outgoing, much like Riley herself. Joy is pretty much Riley's dominant emotion for most of her childhood up until the move.
      Sadness = Female and less outspoken. Joy is in charge for the most part and for a long time Sadness takes a back seat, only occasionally appearing to make sure that Baby Riley cries when she's hungry, or announces when she's sad (which likely wouldn't be often since Riley is fairly outgoing and tends to look on the bright side to solve problems).
      Disgust = Female and picky. I'm tempted to say that Disgust might have taken a few cues from Riley's mother by being very exact in what she wants or what Riley needs.
      As for the "male" emotions:
      Anger is very much masculine to an extent. Not just because they needed Lewis Black for casting, but also because Riley doesn't seem like the sort to really get angry all that often. Riley's anger isn't so dominant enough that she goes around getting angry all the time, it's more of her having a good idea what she deserves and her anger doesn't let people walk all over her. He could be based on her father to an extent in that he's the authority on what Riley deserves.
      Fear is mostly calculating risk and ensuring Riley doesn't get hurt... much like how fathers tend to warn their kids about dangerous stuff when they are playing with their kids. Her father is also clearly working some sort of white-collar job so he could be pretty organized and Riley's fear takes some visual cues from him.
      Soo... if I was making up some sort of theory, I'd imagine that her emotion's genders are based on her parents, with Joy, Sadness, and Disgust being more based on her mother (and possibly more dominant in her personality due to Riley being very outgoing and also having a decently sized wardrobe), while Anger and Fear are based on her father: Ensuring that she stays safe not only from dangers but also from injustice. Anger is also often seen reading his newspapers and getting angry at the stupidity of the world (like if Riley had seen her father complaining about things in the news).
      So, Riley's emotions are kind of based on her parental figures. Joy, Sadness, and Disgust based more on her mother and Fear and Anger being based on her father.
      The reason the parents all have one-gender emotions could be that they have accepted their role as parents or that their emotions have all gotten used to working together and have adopted a sort of 'dress code' to help with their jobs. The Father has all male emotions (or who knows... maybe the emotions could be a mix of male and female, but the female one's are wearing fake mustaches and suits to better fit the 'father' role) due to being the breadwinner of the house and having to constantly maintain a professional appearance while the Mother has her emotions all dressed up to better suit their role.
      Riley is still growing up, so her emotions are free to act as they want. But as she grows older, they will learn to better work together and eventually adopt a sort of dress-code depending on what Riley's professional role in the human world ends up being.

      gortab At first glance, I thought the father's Joy was quite feminine. Unfortunately can't tell for sure, since Joy is kept way off to the side, with much of the focus on Fear and Anger, which may enforce a theory of Riley's emotions reflecting her parents.
      But still, if the father's Joy is female (albeit with a moustache), it may also suggest that the father taps into his feminine side when he's happy.
      Either that correlates to joy being more of a feminine trait, or it suggests the idea that masculinity and femininity are really just societal constructs, and that everyone can have a mix of both (which would mean that we're all gender fluid, even though most of us identify as one OR the other). Riley is more balanced, with 2 of 5 of her core emotions being male, so maybe that means as she grows up she may feel more like a guy and desire the transition, or it may just mean she's a well balanced individual, who doesn't force herself to be all girly due to societal norms.

    I'm a Myers-Briggs buff, so of course I had to type the characters in a film that's all about what makes up a personality type. Ahem...
    Riley - ESTP: Competitive, witty, tends not to think things through before acting.
    Joy - ENFP: Creative, enthusiastic, lives in a world of daydreams and possibilities.
    Sadness - INFJ: Instinctual, focused, deeply empathetic.
    Anger - ESFP: Alert, passionate, tends to react to an offense before thinking about why it happened.
    Disgust - ISTP: Sarcastic, analytical, very in tune with what's relevant to Riley right now.
    Fear - INTP: Analytical, imaginative, best able to answer the question, "What could possibly happen?"
    Why are two of Riley's emotions male? Visual interest and character variation. That is all. It has nothing to do with the illogical post-modern idea that behavior is something we're "born with," but physical characteristics are "fluid."

    This was such an interesting movie. They managed to make their conflicts highly compelling without even having any characters be necessarily responsible for them.

    Favorite emotions list:
    #1Disgust (I really don't know why I just like her as a character a lot)
    #2 Anger
    #3 Fear
    #4 Sadness
    #5 Joy
    I didn't like joy until she went back for Sadness. I felt a lot of pity for sadness at the time.
    If Bing Bing counted as an emotion he would be at the top of my list.

    Lack of emotion is very much like depression. I saw Riley and I cried because I knew that feeling. (Or rather lack thereof). I don't cry in movies. I didn't cry when mufasa died, I didn't cry in a movie about a boy who is father died in the 9/11 attacks. I cried during this. And during frozen because I felt the closeness of Anna and Elsa as children and it was like the closeness of my brother and I before he passed away. I cried for the loss of this, and due to that the ending was even bittersweet because there was still all of that stolen time

    Am I the only one who... didn’t really enjoy this movie? Don’t attack me, but I just found so many issues that may not be irritating to some, but it surely annoyed me. Like that part where the workers sent up the gum memory? Why didn’t Joy do that with the core memories? She obviously had quick thinking, like when she decided to scare Riley awake. Although it was a terrible idea, it worked. Riley frustrated me so much, and she was just so boring and blank-slate-ish. Hockey was the only thing I found remotely interesting, but that’s only one thing. All of her other traits were things mostly everyone has. Of course, this is just my honest opinion. I love Disney, but this is just one movie I didn’t like.

      Because she's the only one allowed to touch the memories, if she sent them back who would be able to put the core memories back where they belong?
      Also sadness was the one who thought of scaring Riley awake

    This movie came out when I was 10 1/2 and I enjoyed it like a small child would but when I was 11 and 12 whenever I watched it I cried because everything in the movie happened to me. The move, new school and all the pre teen things. And now whenever I watch it I think Riley was just like me when I was a child. Love this!! Best Pixar movie

    I personally loved Joy because I believe that we all try to stay optimistic even in the bleakest of situations and Joy being the main emotion that the other emotions rally around (at least in Riley's case) made a lot of sense.
