      Brother, I would like to ask you what to add if you want to slow down the burning speed, and how to control the burning speed

    Your black powder recipe there when you add the water everything in it's a suspension except your oxidizer it dissolves into the water so it's going to cause it separation of ingredients on your fuse. There's a little trick to get around this or at least reduce it to a very minimal amount use ice cold water the potassium nitrate or saltpeter is barely soluble in cold water the higher the temperature of the water goes the higher it's solubility goes 👍🏻😁👍🏻

    +6% dextrin here and in your lift powder seems like a lot -- works out to 5.7% total dry weight. That's like what people use for cut or pumped stars, and they need to survive more stress. Is dextrin any advantage over boiled or laundry starch for stiffening the string?

    • @PassfireRocket
      @PassfireRocket  Год назад +1

      6% slows down the rate of burning which I like to use because then you don't need long blackmatches to light. And it holds the BP well. And definitely laundry starch is better than use of dextrin.
      And for dextrin in lift charge. I actually made burst charge. And with low dextrin it crumbles under pressure. and also due to its slow rate I use flash powder to boost it.

      @@PassfireRocket What's the humidity like where you are at times you would shoot?

    • @PassfireRocket
      @PassfireRocket  Год назад +1

      @@goodmaro I'm from India. Humidity here is around 60 - 80 % now and in winter around 40 -50 %. I usually shoot in winter

    • @goodmaro
      @goodmaro Год назад +2

      @@PassfireRocket That's pretty good. I'm in the northeast United States, shoot mostly in summer, and the use of some comps and items is limited by humidity. I used to have bare match hang, but I make it better now. Some amateur-made stars barely get to dry out around here.

      @@goodmaro so do you usually use drying box? In India winters are pretty dry so I sun dry everything

    I add a little CMC (Carboxy methyl cellulose) which makes the slurry silky smooth and the finished match a little more flexible.

    • @PassfireRocket
      @PassfireRocket  Год назад

      Oh. That's nice and If you could tell the percentage that would be helpful 😅
      And Do you use fabric starch for binding or dextrin or any other binder?

      4% dextrin + 1% CMC. it doesnt need much.

      CMC is a fine white powder commonly used in cake decorating :) Dextrin is a binder made from cornflour.

      Use less dextrin. Or ball mill the bp. Or use a better grade of kno3.
