You will have much better performance if you use 20% sulfur, it can be found in the garden section under dusting sulfur for bugs, I also found charcoal works a little bit better than sugar, but it's really messy. And yes, 100% carton is a must
you see what I do is after the fuses dry, I then coat each fuse with hair spray and wait until they are dry, you will have a stiffer product that won't sag and it keeps the black powder from falling off... give it a try and I GUARANTEE you will start doing it that way for now on.
Spray w/ hairspray LOL! You really are a noob... Heat them in oven at 125 degrees for 15-20 minutes and drive off any moisture. After that, spray with waterproof spray (and or) rubber dip them. Listen to a pro, or listen to a r3t4rd with grammar like a 7 year old. But in all honesty, this method, although effective is not really reliable. Black powder is just as cheap without getting complex and a lot more reliable. You can use any nitrate salt with charcoal and make a slurry and then dry out your fuse as I stated and waterproof as I stated. If you rubber dip your fuses, they are good for life. Store in a drybag until use.
Good question! Yes, if you leave them out in the open they should dry eventually (as long as it isn’t extremely humid or something), it might just take longer. Hope that helps!
If you're worried about the smoke being seen, get some clear rubber tubing and run your fuse through that. No more plumes of smoke before the explosion happens. It works very well.
Question, My friends wants to be blackbeard for halloween. he wants to put slow burn fuses in his beard like the pirate did. Is there a safe way to do this or is he crazy? would really appreciate help as he deserves a dope costume.
I’d say you probably shouldn’t put these near your face. Maybe look online for safer options that aren’t as dangerous but get a similar effect. Thanks for the comment though, and I wish your friend good luck with the costume!
@@JoshTheNerd thanks so much for getting back to me, I thought that was the case but we havent got any experiences with explosives....or costumes...or piracy :)
Better to use : 24g Potassium Nitrate - KNO³ Oxidizer 16g Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) Fuel 50 ml Water - H²O 100% cotton yarn Cook the same way but swapping the Sugar for Ascorbic Acid. It has more punch than using sugar or a black powder mix and if you want a slower burn, use a little Sodium Bicarbonate as it releases carbon dioxide which lowers the temperature. For an even faster burn try a little Potassium Perchlorate, as this releases more oxygen.
If you want Potassium Perchlorate & don't know how to make it, then don't go making it even though it's relatively simple. Potassium Chlorate is dangerous compared to Potassium Perchlorate but all you need is Bleach & Potassium Chloride to make it. Just don't do it. Keep it safe & simple, just use Potassium Nitrate & Ascorbic Acid & a little Sodium Bicarbonate if you want it a little slower.

Brother, can you make a primer and smokeless powder?

What's the best way to clean the pan after making the fuse?
Warm soapy water on VERY LOW heat.
It will dissolve the KNO3 and sugar mixture.
If you're worried about the smoke being seen, get some clear rubber tubing and run your fuse through that. No more plumes of smoke before the explosion happens. It works very well.
Good show. There are many ways to make this type of item, but one must find what works best for them.
Thanks for the comment! That’s a great point, lots of testing to do.
