Watching this again in 2019. Greatest conclusion of an NCAA championship I've ever seen. UNC issued thr gut punch with three to tie it and Nova delivered the knockout punch with the three to win it.
Brendan Haywood deserves major props for how he handled the end--smooth, professional and classy.

The best championship game in last decades
As a lifelong Tar Heel hoops fan, this one still hurts. The sheer range of emotion i felt over the last 5 or so minutes of the game, as UNC clawed back n battled, and then Marcus Paige drains that absurd circus shot, I felt it was destiny...
And it was...
It was destiny...
For Villanova...
For Kris Jenkins...
For the greatest ending to a national title game since Jimmy V.
It broke my heart, no doubt about that, but damn what an ending.
The wounds healed the next year as we cut down the nets...
But between the 2003 ALCS "Aaron Fucking Boone", The Stanley Cup Finals Game 6, down 3-2 in series, where my beloved Bruins were up by 1, and gave up 2 goals in the last minute, to lose the Cup to Chicago, and this shot, that's my personal top 3 most painful losses in my life as a sports fan. Brutal.

Davis was great in emphasizing his pride for his team's achievement and nearly nada about disappointment. Williams earned every bit of my hatred. Davis may actually redeem UNC a tiny bit if he keeps the classy up.

This was the UNC TV announcers and at least I heard their reaction in their voice.
When TBS calls the final four, they use their sister networks (TNT, TruTV) to be secondary streams of the local announcers alongside the national broadcast feed.
So you essentially get to hear and see fan reactions from both sides instead of one.

For a month or so after this, I always wondered "Why my team?" Then i realized they were part of probably one of the most exciting last 5 mins of any national title game ever. Yeah we lost, but this was a great final few minutes.

Thats the way I feel about it as well as a Tar Heel fan. I was there live in Houston. But the fact that this game is so widely recognized as a great game means something to me.
