I'm a Heavy Metal guy, since the late 1970s, but this band is just hypnotically good. In my junior high algebra class, our teacher was so cool that she'd have the radio playing, and "Sultans of Swing" became one of my favorite songs.
Yeah metal fan here as well but like this band. When you have riffs and some attitude, not that hard to please us.
I love that they decided to make the video a tribute to the hard working rodies that make them all look them all so good out there on the road. Those guys, even more than the ones on stage really do have to run on Heavy Heavy Fuel!!!

Same then I saw Mark playing sultans on the music vid and was GD blown away. 7 years later it's my showpiece to play on the guitar which I picked up because of that very reason.

Mark Knopfler is the best technically proficient guitarist that I've had the pleasure to listen to, all the way back to The Beatles in 1964. It's a shame that he isn't recognized as such in the U.S. but when the guitar gods in Europe get together for a concert jam he's always put out front and center..What a pleasure it is to listen to him on songs like this as well as the more demanding tunes that don't get air play.
Oh my, great song, great music and wonderful video. Randy Quaid must be one of the funniest guys I ever came across. 💕

I played this song with the band I was in. Played it probably just the one time and didn't rehearse it with them. Shouted out some chord changes. Did a great job and recorded it as well that night. We had a unforgettable night playing some great songs very well if not explosive. Love Dire Straits. Listen to those songs recorded on cd all the time. So glad we recorded them. We were a three piece kick ass band.
