  • To commemorate the 5th anniversary of Dave retiring from late night television (his last show was on May 20, 2015), I've put together a series of "first and last" appearances, the latter paying tributes in their own ways to the last giant of late night (h/t Jason Zinoman).
    Part 23. Howard Stern
    1. May 21, 1984
    2. May 11, 2015
The 2015 guest appearance comes from Andrew Lynch's superb RUclips upload, linked here: • Video

Don, I hope the future of your collection is in good hands, so your work can continue far into the future. You are a national treasure!

This Tribute series is brilliant. I just found it almost a month late, and I had to seek it out. Meanwhile the youtube bot recommends viewer mail segments I already watched a year ago.

Find it hard sometimes to follow Howard when listening to his show, but really really like the Howard when he's with Dave.

Stern was really great back in the day, but modern day stern is like listening to cat caught in a car belt.

It’s great to see Howard going from being treated like crap back in the 80s and complaining about making $200,000, and now making millions of dollars every year. Congratulations to Howard

This is great -- Howard Stern's pro-gay bona fides, in the 1980s, on full display. He was so ahead of his time, even while he was still evolving. If that makes any sense.
