- To commemorate the 5th anniversary of Dave retiring from late night television (his last show was on May 20, 2015), I've put together a series of "first and last" appearances, the latter paying tributes in their own ways to the last giant of late night (h/t Jason Zinoman).
Part 31. Bill Murray
1. October 6, 1980
2. May 19, 2015
The 2015 guest appearance comes from Andrew Lynch's superb RUclips upload, linked here: • Video
When I saw all these tributes pop up on my feed, I got worried and went to check the news to see if he'd died. Scared me for a minute there.
Hilarious. Alas, the comedic bastions of yesteryear. It's a shame the newer generation will never appreciate the comedic genius that was at every televised street corner, so to speak, once upon a time. Thanks for posting!
I haven’t had a chance to watch all these yet, but the sheer volume is incredible! Thanks for the work you put in to this.
thanks don. a five year retiring tribute is just what i need right now. will watch them all !😊
Bill always brings so much chaos, I love it
The intro by Dave for both appearances is almost the same. He mentions Caddyshack, Meatballs and SNL both times, but adds Stripes and Where the Buffalo Roam on the Late Show intro. Where the Buffalo Roam is pretty obscure. I've seen it, but most people haven't.
Stop everything, I'm watching this right now...
One of the greats
...anybody know what the song was that Paul & the Band was covering when Bill popped out of the cake?
“Chest Fever” by The Band. On their debut album “Music from Big Pink” (1968).
Chest fever! Great tune for paul
An excellent idea! Very cool. I apologize if I missed it, but where's #30? My list shows 1 - 29 and 31.
The Tom Hanks 1st and last that I put up on March 12 and today retitled it as Part 30.
@@dongiller Thanks for the clarification!!!!
