    The solo was most likely played by Brendan O'Brien.

      @@12footchain I wasn't aware of this until recently either. Brendan had/has considerable chops and Jeff Cease was a fledgling lead player at that point (and was replaced not long afterward by Marc Ford).

      Brendan only played the solo on Hard to Handle and only because it was done in La when they were finishing the record and Jeff was in Atlanta. Everything else is Rich and Jeff.
