- "My absolute, all-time fave is the August Rodin sculpture, 'Eternal Spring.' It blows my mind that someone can envision such incredible detail and beauty from essentially a lump of nothingness. The love and passion reflected in it is simply breath-taking. I’m such a fan-girl that after filming I ran over to the appraisal table and had my picture taken with it!" - Chris Larson, business & production manager

"Suddenly want a beer" is the greatest response I've heard in one of these situations so far.
It's 1:15 in the morning and I literally can't stop watching these.
Funny, it's 1:10 here right now and doing just that.
As opposed to figuratively not being able to stop watching?
1:20 here
AR is the best. I love this show
12:21am here. Right behind ya! 😂
January 02, 2017:
After this appraisal was recorded in July 2016,
the owner reached out to the Comité Auguste Rodin in France. Following
careful inspection, they informed the owner that his bronze is an
authentic Auguste Rodin lifetime cast and will be added to Rodin’s
catalogue raisonné.
That's truly exciting and I'm really happy for the owner. However, it's sad that he can no longer display it in his living room as any other knick knack unless he's got state-of-the-art security.
Voivode WOW!!! Amazing!
Bravo to this man, who inherited "Eternal Spring" from his dad, and he from an ancestor who knew what she was purchasing.
I do not believe you. I don't think you're an authentic RUclips poster.
how much did he get
It is gorgeously cast, perfect textures. And yes, in 2017, it was authenticated. 🤗
SO THE RODIN MEETS YOUR STANDARDS?
Some say he's still saying "wow" to this day!
"We have protection for you." - Don't mess with roadshow security.
They better have security, this guy is walking out with half a million dollars in his hands.
I always wondered about that. Thieves and muggers would target AR me thinks
"We have protection for you". A box of condoms.
Bert and Ernie are tough.
@@westsideken Maybe it's Bert & Ernie from "It's a Wonderful Life." Those security guys *are* tough.
give the man a beer
delnuggets bitch he just a 400k piece of metal. make him buy me one
my favorites are always people like this guy who have no idea what an amazing piece they have! genuinely, it brings me so much joy to see how excited they are
It’s the people like us, the ones who love these types of things, that are what’s good with the world. These are just humble people in a search for understanding. The PBS roadshow has been a part of my life since the first time I saw an episode air in 2000’.
We LOVE to see these types of things happen. Good things happening to good people.
Jacob exactly!
Amazing sculpture from the greatest, Rodin. Magnifique !
A Rodin. That's incredible. I suddenly want a beer too.
Some say he's still saying "wow" to this day!
4:37 The "protection" on the left there.
lmfao
Ahahah
prpobaly a mafioso
No, it's this guy -- 4:43
The lucky bastard of the year award goes to... the guy with the beer! He better thank his great aunt for having good taste.
Oh my gosh this sculpture is beautiful!
One of my favorite reactions. I’ve watched it so many times and still laugh just as hard. He seems like a fun person to have a beer with!
He's a darling man, and his response is exactly what mine would have been except I'd need a chair pronto!
"lawn chair"
The Antiques Roadshow's security staff are actually quite hardcore, and some of them are licensed to have a concealed weapon for the BIG valued piece's
Some of them, I heard, have authentic Remingtons.
I’m all for art but if someone said that bronze is worth $450,000.....it’s sold.
In general I think most people on the Roadshow who get lucky with a huge appraisal do end up selling their item. We get tons of updates on what these things sell for at auction. It just doesn't make sense for a regular, middle-class person to sit on an antique worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Dalton Brooks lol 😂
Bet, where do I cash out?!
That was in 2016. Sometimes it's better to loan to a museum to add provenance and let it appreciate in value! What would it fetch now?
If you have a Rodin you keep it unless you really need the cash. His work is so beautiful you want to keep it close and enjoy your treasure.
Thanks for the link containing the update. I saw the episode a couple of days ago and was left on edge.
My father used to use one of those as a "car stop" after the parking pawl broke on the transmission of our 1964 Chevy Impala. He carried it around in the back seat and would place it under the tire so the car wouldn't roll away after he parked. No wonder the guy at the junk yard said he'd give him $40 for the car but $60 if he threw in the "shitty sculpture." I want to cry.
Rodin is my favorite. His museum in Paris is divine. That piece is so beautiful. He should never sell it
"I suddenly want a beer."
Lol......priceless!
There is one of these sold at Christie's in March 2018 for $ 927,201.
I think this will fetch a million or more at auction
His reaction is amazing
So happy for him
OUTSTANDING!!!
Breath taking piece of history & art
That thing is incredible.
So pleased for him
I liked him before the end when he said he suddenly wants a beer... Now I like him more!
I loved him when he got rich 💰 🤑 💸
At 4:50+ ,the fellow in the background (with the pink?/purple? shirt) is groovin’ to the tunes that only he can hear. Great video…thanks for posting….Mac
“I suddenly wanna beer” 🍻😂🙏🏻 cheers to you my friend! Wow!!!!
Eric Silver is a crazy expert, if he’s impressed you should be too
Wow! It's authentic! Lucky man!
I love this piece.
I don’t want anything in my house that I have to call a”piece”. We are way too country for that down here folks. We get our shelf sitters from the Dollar bush ‘round here.
The hundreds of treasures I've found over the decades at thrift stores is mindboggling!
wow. authentic Rodin piece. amazing
“Suddenly want a beer!” 🤣🤣🤣
For $7 at my local thrift store here in Tampa, I found an authentic, 1940's large watercolor by Alex Ross. I wish I still had it! It would have probably been featured if I made it to the road show. If you don't know, Ross did all the covers for good housekeeping and Saturday evening post, alongside Rockwell. I saw one of his original covers sold for $20,000. Someone offered me $2000 and I took it. It was filthy and had a one inch tear, but repairable. I can imagine that repaired at auction, probably at least $50,000-$100,000.
My city has a large Rodin downtown, it's quite beautiful.
Estimated value is so precise.
WOW !
Rodins amazing
Simply stunning!! I was just reading about Rodin and Camille Claudel recently.
That's authentic and the man just get himself 400.000
Not exactly...he already had it. and it isn't over til the auction company pays you the cash from a sale. If he sells it.
“ suddenly want a beer” .....classic.
Why is he surprised???? It’s a freaking RODIN!!!!
Sir, I am in Fort Worth, and I will buy you a beer! Cheers!!! Congratulations!!

Me encanta esa escultura.😚
WOW !!!
“I suddenly want a beer”.....at the end. 🙂
Owen Wilson would have been proud of those WOWs.
Where I work in Montreal, which is 1 block away from the Museum of Fine Arts, the Galerie next to us has a sculpture of Rodin, bigger than life size from the "Burghers of Calais" It is a copy made and known to be an original of Rodin. It is on the sidewalk, and people do look to admire them daily.
You have to see them in person. If you are in the usa, there's a Rodin museum in Philadelphia that is amazing.
Nice guy! Good for him!
Beautiful piece! Wow! I’d want that beer too!
Awesome art.
Ladies and gentlemen, please never forget Rodins muze and love Camille Claude' 💞.
She WASN'T his love! If it was true he wouldn't make use of her name. I believe this is not Rodin's work, it's Camille's. It seems he used to play a competition and used to envy her.
"Suddenly I want a beer".
Someone get this man a beer! LoL.
OMG a real Rodin! O.O
"Suddenly want a beer."
beautiful - but I would sell it immediately.
Love that they had protection for him.
Wow thats beautiful
I borrowed $100 for gas so I could get my sculpture appraised and left with a half million dollars and my own security team. Yes that was an actual Rodin sculpture that was eventually certified.
Can you imagine getting that call, ring, post or parcel? Can you imagine your 3 year old son getting to your phone first and hanging up? He recently learned how to call 911and how to hang up the phone. Did I do good dad?
Awesome!💫
I love Rodin, I can still see him crushing buildings and driving Godzilla back into Tokyo bay.
He shoulda had his own cartoons and movies too.
Totally unfair that Godzilla got all of the spotlights.
I believe Rodin also made better sculptures than any of the Ninja Turtles except Michelangelo.
The only problem was when Rodin finished a sculpture, he'd smash and destroy the real subject.
Tokyo lived in terror, praying Rodin would never choose their city, as a subject for one of his sculptures.
They already had it bad enough with Godzilla, when he'd get drunk fight with Mrs. Godzilla and stumble around Tokyo destroying the place, till he sobered up.
My great grandfather was the head of US Intelligence in Japan back then, so he told me a lot about this stuff.
Me too...
Wow beautiful
I suddenly want a beer
I suddenly want a beer😂😂😂😂
Cool love it
I’d love to hear about the protection available.
“Wow”
I love his reaction , a genuine surprise at the price . But I also think the piece is beautiful . Even if it were only 5-10,000 dollars , it still makes a fine item to have in a room . A minimalist setting with a few well chosen items of furniture , so the sculpture could be seen from all angles .
It is something to keep, that's for sure. I have been to the museum in Paris many times. His pieces are so magnificent that they bring you to tears when you see them in person.
Suddenly want a beer
Wow...!!
It recently sold at Auction for 10.2M USD
Nice jobs,thanks share
I suddenly want a beer - 🍻
This guys said i Suddenly want a Beer lmaooo give this guy a beer
It's Miller time!
I like the part where he says "It's Rodin time!"
Half a million dollars could be life-changing for some people like me😻
10 grand would be life changing for me LOL
I hope he sold it for $500k.
Very nice artwork ❤❤
🙏
Wow
My mom has the thinker. She’s had it over 60 years and it had belonged to someone in our family long before that. Wonder if hers is
Wow!!! It's such a beeeeautiful sculpture...I'd honestly want to keep it to admire, but given my heavy student loan debt, I'd just take a photo for prosperity and sell that sucker!! 😉
This is Camille Cloudell
Get that man a beer
I think I'd be paying that authentication fee.
On my screen it seems as if the detail is not there...it sounds like in person, the detail is there.
WOW
I'm ashamed to admit that I would have sold it. As much as I would love to keep it in the family for tradition, that's just entirely too much money.
WAaaaooo!
4:37 theres his protection
This is neat because it’s like seeing someone win the lottery.
Easily worth 500k now
Why sell? It's a good starting point on making your place nice.
