Exactly! We also don’t need communion ministers. Communion rails are the solution to this too. I rather wait for everyone to receive Our Lord in the tongue from the priest than save a few minutes and have communion ministers.
Do you ever wonder why that changed? It was done by receiving communion on the tongue while kneeling behind the communion rail for hundreds of years. Then very quickly was changed to receiving in the hand while standing.

We need Communion rails and reinforce the need for Confession often before receiving.
Yep the communion lines are bigger than the confession lines.... So do we have more saints today 😂

I would love to see our communion rails returned so that we’re able to kneel while receiving Jesus.
How I want to kneel. Age and arthritis make it quite difficult. I think Jesus understands
I absolutely agree. The majority of us have the same problem. We can kneel down but have great difficulty getting up without support. Maybe that was the reasoning behind communion rails.

Nice tips. In France, they kneel before the Priest and receive the communion to the mouth.
I wish we did that too. More and more are receiving on the tongue. Unfortunately, priests who want to install and/or use a communion rail are persecuted.
Here in the states we use to do that but over time it changed to what we do now.
I'm in the states and recent convert. I have only knelt and received on the tongue. It may be different in different dioecies idk.

I would love to kneel but I'm elderly and unable to. We have a new pastor and plan on asking him to place a kneeled in front so if someone wants to kneel out of love and respect of our Lord it's available to them. God bless you!

I am 70 years old with osteoarthritis of both knees. I would hold up the line for 10 minutes if I tried to kneel. I can't even kneel in the pew. On the tongue is likely to spread germs.
@@feurigerStern Obviously if you haven't the ability to kneel, then bow. But to say taking Our Lord on the tongue spreads germs and believe somehow that doesn't happen taking Our Lord in the hand shows you are more concerned about YOU!

When we say "Amen" we are affirming the Body of Christ and receive the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of the Lord on the tongue kneeling; so please bring back the Communion Rail.

We will never have eucharistic renewal until we go back to reverence for the body of Christ. That begins with the priest.
There you go.... It all starts and ends with the priest..... I'm from South Africa... And our priest told us to bow before we receive Holy Communion.... Jesus is king... Show respect.

As for people that try to steal the host; I sit on the isle and watch people as they walk back after receiving. I have caught several.
Why were they trying to steal the Host? What ended up happening to them?

Thank you father. I appreciate you clearly stating people can receive on the tongue. I didn’t know it was allowed until a few years ago. Now it’s the only way I receive and only from my priest.

The priest who pastored my home parish, who was known to know the most amongst his brother priests about all things Catholic, taught us it is redundant to make the sign of the cross after receiving communion. By the very act of receiving the Holy Eucharist you are uniting yourself with our Holy Trinity, One God. Your 'Amen' already expresses your belief.

As an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, my FIRST suggestion is.....FIRE US MINISTERS! Let the ORDINARY MINISTERS, the priests, give out ALL Communion. Even if it takes an extra 10 minutes. No one attending Holy Mass is that busy. SECOND, NO COMMUNION IN THE HAND! It fosters disrespect. Third, use the Communion Rails. KNEEL to recieve Our Lord, you will on your judgement day. Do all three, and belief in the REAL PRESENCE will skyrocket. It's at 30% now, a dismal testimony to our faith and catachesis since Vatican II.

@@louismenditto1917 Unfortunately, it's been around 30% belief for 40 or more years. To quote Dorothy Day when she was asked if she thought the Eucharist was symbolic, she replied "If it's just a symbol, then to Hell with it!". I agree.

Bring back Communion rails! It would be an expensive undertaking, indeed, but how can you "put a price on' something as crucial as this?
Communion in the hand is an abomination! Returning to communion on the tongue while kneeling would solve many of the problems in churches today.

@JesusRulez-l3j and yet at the Novus Ordo mass people drink wine from the same chalice. Communion in the hand was unheard of up until the 1960s and you can see the impact this is having on the faith: over 70% of US Catholics who attend mass each week now say that they don’t believe Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist vs 0% at churches where they only receive on the tongue.

When I was younger we received communion by mouth on our knees, the Devil changed it to the hands, check out what Fr Amorth says about that, so get back on your knees and show the Lord respect!

Taking communion in the hand leads to much potential desecration of the host. It is the real presence of our Lord. Particles can be left on your hand or even fall onto the floor. This is avoided if taken by mouth. I see no good reason to take communion by hand.
I guess you didn't listen, you dont take the host at all, you receive it.

I don't like bowing to someone's back . I usually wait until they move away. I've also had the priest try to place the Host on my tongue while I am saying "Amen!" It is a bit awkward .

I think you know that most who CAN kneel don’t.
Those who can’t, can offer up their painful knees to Our Lord as they stand.

People who takes the Holy Host home usually uses this as part of some magic ritual.
For the same reason and of course for Reverence, Holy Communion should be given on Tongue only.

That decision is up to the person receiving Holy Communion; the priest/deacon/minister can’t deny the Eucharist based on which option someone chooses to receive
To receive in the hand is by an indult due to disobedient bishops. The ordinary mode to receive is on the tongue while kneeling

As a priest, I must admit I much prefer giving people Holy Communion in their hand. I only wish more people knew the proper way to receive..... whether it’s in the hand or on the tongue. We go over proper reception 2-3 times each year.

I never could figure out why the Catholics can't drink the wine after they eat the wafer.i don't understand why the priest can't just hand the congregation the wafer so they could put it in their own mouths.

His masses are still valid, its still the body and blood of Christ that we receive. Ultimately he cannot say "no receiving on the hand" because of the modern way people receive communion. The priest can't force everyone to receive on the tongue; Unfortunately. I always receive on the tongue, but Vatican 2 was misinterpreted by lay-people and here we are.

No Communion rails~!!! Communion in the hand--may it always be an option. Communion on the tongue is awkward and unsanitary.
