How you describe 28 summers is exactly how you will feel with her other books. Elin Hilderbrand's books are so realistic- they are definitely NOT the ideal romance but you feel like you're in their world, because the story and characters feel so real. I highly suggest hotel Nantucket which is a favorite of many ❤️

Ok, some of my favorite sci-fi books are: The Murderbot series by Martha Wells (an antisocial and awkward security bot inadvertently takes care of the humans it is protecting; it is cozy and relatably funny and the series starts off with a bunch of novellas so they are quick reads) and anything by Becky Chambers (also cozy sci-fi, involving humans and other species navigating the intergalactic world).

I have really enjoyed the Lady Darby series by Anna Lee Huber. It's a historical mystery series that takes place in Scotland in the 1800s, and Lady Darby is a widow whose husband was an anatomist. It has some similar themes to the books you mentioned, but the main character is an artist and reluctantly learned about anatomy by illustrating diagrams of the human body for her late husband. There are 12 books out currently!

Can we normalize not blaming ourselves when a book isn’t as good as we thought or hoped it would be? I may be the only one but I don’t go into books thinking they’re going be anything except 5 stars. I’m all for people that want to read out of their comfort zones. 100%. But other than that, I read what I enjoy. I just don’t think not getting what we were hoping for from a book is on us as the reader. But maybe that’s just my reading experience? We all have different experiences ones so maybe it is.
