  • I borrowed a pressure washer and the first time I used it the pump exploded. Being the nice guy I am, I decided to replace it before I gave it back.

    Before running the pump I changed out the garbage Chinese oil that comes in it.

    I had the same pump break. The bolts brok and the pump opened up and dumped oil. Everything was okay so I got some replacement bolts and added Briggs and Stratton synthetic pump oil. The new bolts heads shear off so the bolt shaft and the housing was damaged. I have pictures if you want to see.

    Watched both videos. The difference in the oil was amazing. What do they use? Vegetable oil? In this video you can barely see the washer plate, but in Part 2 the new Mobil gear oil you can see into quite well.

    I trash-picked a Husky HU80709 because it looked great and the neighbor said the engine ran, but that the pump was burned out- whatever that was supposed to mean. Was it ever! The pump was filled with black water and the bearings were torn up and rolling around loose. The bearing plates were gouged. One was cracked through. Even the “cup” body was tore up on the inside. But, thanks to your video, I think I’ll just spend the $60 for a pump and change the oil right away.

    Great video, thank you. I just received one of these pumps from Amazon and it appears to be leaking oil. Rather than sending it back I think I will rework it as you did and upgrade the oil. It likely has a pinch in the housing o-ring. I ordered it as a spare for my powerwasher since I know this is the weak link. Ultimately I will need to replace it, but your video might make it last a lot longer than it would otherwise. Thanks again.

    Where can you find the little metal washers/seals that sit just on top, well technically bottom, of the housing. I can find the o rings in kits but the only way I can find the metal washer/seals is to buy a complete pump. Mine leaks water and I found that one of thise washers had been damaged and corroded, actually split all the way around and there was water inside the housing. HELP!!

    Hey man, followed your vid and really appreciate the help! However, I replaced the pump and still have the same problem..no pressure! Hose and wand seem to be clear of obstruction...any ideas???!

    • @bassntruck
      @bassntruck  6 лет назад

      Sounds like an issue with the unloader and being stuck in the "open" position, therefor making no pressure. That assumes you just get standard water feed pressure out of the wand. And that the insides of your pump are all in good order while put pack together correctly. I also take it you have no water seeping into your pump oil.
      Edit: You replaced the whole pump and still get the same issue with a new pump? If that is the case it still could be a stuck unloader (odd) but are you sure the shafts are fitting together and the key is installed? If the key is missing or too small and slides down it will make no pressure as it is not spinning.

    • @terrellknight1756
      @terrellknight1756 6 лет назад

      (feeling like an idiot)) where should the "key" be located? I had no issue sliding the new pump onto the shaft, but never noticed a "key". perhaps that is my issue.

    • @bassntruck
      @bassntruck  6 лет назад +1

      terrell knight You will see a slot machined into the shaft on the motor and in the pump. It should be a 1/4" key. This is what makes the pump grab the motors shaft and spin. The key is just a piece of metal 1/4" x 1/4" and is likely about an inch in length. It either falls out when the pump is removed or is rusted in place making the pump hard to remove.

    • @bassntruck
      @bassntruck  6 лет назад

      So around the 4:45. Then you likely have weak axial cam seals. This is somewhat common on older pumps once you take them apart. That or you might have damaged one or more when pulling the pump apart or putting it back together. I like to put a little oil on them to help it go together. If you can find the seals you can replace them. Might just have to measure the seals to order new ones.

      Had the same issue with my GCV190. I took the nut and spring off, then put a socket big enough to allow the valve to fit through. Attached the nut on the end and hand tightened it with another socket. Came off with ease. No need to attach socket wrench.

    Got This Pump From Amazon But The Horizontal Pump, Installed It And Noticed That It Slightly Started Leaking Oil From The Seal That Seals The Shaft. Any Idea What’s Wrong? Maybe The Seals Not Seated Properly? Thanks In Advance.

    • @bassntruck
      @bassntruck  6 лет назад

      Make sure where it is leaking from. I have seen a leak from the engine look like the pump. If you are sure it is the pump, then the seal is just bad. Could have been damaged in production or could be defective. There is a small chance it could stop leaking on its own (before it runs out of oil). You could return it or just get another seal. There will be aa number of number on the face of the seal. They are the measurements of the seal, just find a match.

    • @robertvalencia20
      @robertvalencia20 6 лет назад

      Bassntruck I’m 100% Sure It’s Coming From The Pump, So Best Bet Is To Replace The Seal?

    • @bassntruck
      @bassntruck  6 лет назад

      Is it leaking where the shaft from the motor goes into the pump, from the halves of the pump, or from the bottom of the pump? The case halves are just an o ring. if it is from where the shaft is then a better seal will fix it. Or return it for another. I looked at the video and could not tell if the numbers are on the side of the seal. If the current seal has no numbers then you can just measure it and find what you need. Just need the OD, ID, and width to find a new seal.

    • @robertvalencia20
      @robertvalencia20 6 лет назад

      Bassntruck I Can See Oil Leaking From The Orange/Red Seal That Sits In The Case Of The Pump Where The Motor Shaft Goes.

    • @bassntruck
      @bassntruck  6 лет назад

      Then just measure the ID, OD, and width of the current seal and look one up with those numbers. Pop the old one out and tap new one evenly down until seated. Using a large socket or something round if you do not have a seal driver. Put a little oil on the inner part of the seal before you attach it to the motor, it will help keep it from tearing. Trying to hit the 1k subs, throw me one if you have not. Thanks!
