And in this situation that force was so strong it forced her to kill her own child to keep her parents approval. Because remember... she is still a child and children want their parents approval.

@@furygeistThey couldn't have. Only the patient decides who gets to be in the room. There are situations when the doctors would insist everyone gets out but not in this case. There are people present even when someone is in active labour. It's the patient's call. Asking the mother to leave on their own can backfire on the medical staff in a big way.

    • @Kristine_202
      @Kristine_202 11 месяцев назад +94

I don't like to compare trauma. I've been through trauma and my trauma is valid, but if you asked my honest opinion, I would say that what this cleaning lady has been through is so much worse than what I've been through. Something happened to me at age 14 and I developed PTSD from it. I don't want to give away how old I am (I'm old, LOL) but after all of these years, certain things still trigger me. One of them is a certain song and I heard it while grocery shopping and had a full blown panic attack. That was only about a year ago. Decades have passed and I'm still being triggered by things.
I just pray that this woman gets the help she needs. I know money won't fix anything, but if she had a GoFundMe, I would absolutely donate to it. Therapy can be expensive, so maybe it would help with that. I work in healthcare myself and I actually have pretty crappy insurance. You'd think that healthcare workers would have good insurance, but that's not necessarily true. Hopefully whatever treatment she needs is fully covered.
Or she could use the money to go on a trip somewhere. Nothing is going to fix what she's been through, but maybe taking a dream vacation would at least help her relax for a little bit. This case is ongoing, so it's not over for her yet. (In reality, it will never be over for her.) She's still going to have to relive this when it goes to trial. I have a feeling that they'll end up showing her horrible pictures of the bathroom and the trash can and even the baby. They'll ask her things like, "Is this what he looked like when you found him?" My God! It's so horrifying. She's going to be traumatized all over again.

@@Kristine_202 You expressed and painted the picture so clearly. Absolutely on point. This was a horrific thing to see and experience. The cleaning lady had already gone through a trauma the year before when her male partner took his life. That was an event she was carrying every day of her life. She was asked if she would be okay taking this job because of the way her partner died. She said yes. I am guessing she took the position because the salary was good and she would be busy and around other people which would keep her mind occupied. No way did she ever imagine she would encounter what did.
I too want for her to get therapy before, during, and after the trial, if there is one because every trash can n that hospital is a trigger for her. And the added trauma is that the grandmothers are yet to shed a tear for their grandson from what I have observed.

Thing is, by right, Alexee didn’t need to have her mom in the room with her. They could have easily asked her to leave to give her some privacy.
It’s super common for teens to be afraid to admit in front of their parents that they are sexually active. Healthcare workers know this. The staff had a big suspicion she was pregnant, and when the pregnancy test came back positive, if they had kicked Rosa out and talked to Alexee about her options (including leaving the baby for adoption without anyone knowing), she might not have felt the need to kill Baby Doe in the first place.
They knew Rosa was most likely a strict parent judging by how adamant the two of them were that Alexee was a virgin. They knew there would be serious repercussions for her if Rosa knew the truth. It baffles me how they thought putting the patient in an unnecessarily stressful and potentially dangerous/traumatic situation (that could've been 100% avoided!!!) is "acting in the patient's best interests".
I don’t think the doctor and nurses were the bad guys here, they were trying to help. But it is nevertheless a serious oversight on their part.

Don’t let them tell you that being affected by what you see makes you any less of a doctor because it in fact makes you a better one. It shows an adamant no admission of guilt. But that is what the legal system has come to. Many things in legal proceedings don't make any sense to people with any level of ability to feel compassion. From what I've heard, the hospital is most likely at no fault, and will be found as such. Even the toxicology report with painkillers administered shows no wrong doing. But who knows. We weren't there and will have to wait and see. I hope the poor baby has justice, however that plays out, in the best way possible.

We are trained to throw out and wipe down EVERYTHING in areas with heavy biohazard, and we are constantly trashing out waste, linen, and contaminated products in our areas. With this, you get used to the different weights of filled waste bags and can sometimes clock out what makes them heavy. However, if a bag is oddly heavy, we can check to see if something important may have been accidently thrown away.

I had my first kid at 19, just shy of 20. Almost the same as you and at the same age as the girl in the video.
I was independent and living with my then boyfriend ( now husband) which obviously made it easier than for this teen but I still come from a highly religious family and we were "living in sin".
So, I knew it would be bad for my kid and myself.
The pregnancy was literally at one of the worst time possible in my life when we were getting ready to move to another country and I was definetely not financially ready for being a mother.
Then to top this all of I only discovered the pregnancy at almost 14 weeks bc I had heavy bleeding that I mistook for normal period. So it ended up being considered a high risk pregnancy where me and my baby were both at risk at some points.
The pregnancy news hit me like a rock. I immediately thought that I would end up alone bc I assumed my bf would leave me ( he never showed any inclination for that it was just my panicking brain), that my religious family wouldn't help us ever and then after digesting that news I had to deal with a high risk pregnancy. Me not following the instructions would've meant almost a certain late term abortion. The idea of doing it in purpose never even crossed my mind.
So, given the months bedridden at the hospital and at home and the fear of losing my kid that gripped me since the beginning that had me follow every single thing by the book... I just cannot understand this teen at all.
It does appear like she's afraid of the mother though and I obviously don't know if she had some mental breakdown to end up doing that...

Considering that Alexie seemed more scared of her mother than jail, was it possible for A&E staff to ask her mother to leave the room while Alexie answered sexual health questions?

so many doctors take the "are you pregnant?" thing WAY too far, though
like when i had a rupturing ovarian cyst at 16, the ONLY thing they could think was pregnancy and would not even listen when i said i was a virgin, not at all interested (i'm asexual), they made my mom leave the room even though i was in so much pain i did not care what i said in front of her and they even did an exam for internal bleeding in front of her after that
but they STILL had me do TWO pregnancy tests and when it came back negative, they SENT ME HOME because nothing was wrong
even when i was literally throwing up in the exam room - from how much pain i was in
i legitimately thought i was dying, but because i wasn't pregnant, nothing was wrong
i've talked to people who have been pregnant who have also had rupturing ovarian cysts and they've usually said the cysts were more painful
i know it's so SO important
but at some point doctors need to try to find the real reason someone is in pain, it's so frustrating to not be taken seriously and ignored
and only add to it if someone is fat, they're not getting ANY medical treatment besides being told to lose weight
broken leg? have you tried losing weight?
you're so lazy if you haven't tried losing weight to fix your broken leg first, why do you think medical treatment is the first option?
but hey. at least it was better than my previous doctor who refused to listen to me - she asked my mom about my symptoms, asked her questions about the type of pain, all that stuff, did NOT even look at me, didn't ask or let me know if she was going to touch me or examen me, nothing
and she was a pediatric doctor, my primary care doctor my entire life up to that point
she had people hold me down for shots rather than talk to me about them (i'm not great with needles if i'm scared but if you explain what they are and let me choose to look or not when something is being done, i'm pretty fine.... instead they just let me be freaked out and held me down crying until it was over.... hello medical trauma)
my mom nearly yelled at her to ask me questions instead of her because i was 14-15 and knew more about my pain that she (my mom) did
anyway, what i mean is - doctors need to do better
just because someone has a uterus or is fat or a child doesn't mean they have no idea about their own body and everything is their fault and that they don't need to be treated or talked to like an actual person
this has nothing to do with the actual case, but the comment about doctors specifically
(also i can easily spend 20+ minutes in the bathroom without it being a big deal.. i guess not in a hospital, but idk that was kinda weird to comment on)

I was trying to get treatment for my very severe headache issue and they made a huge deal about not giving me a medication that is harmful for a fetus, when I’m a virgin and my headaches impede my ability to do so much there’s no way I’m going to suddenly not be a virgin anytime remotely soon. then the doctor said I could be raped tho… I’m pretty sure I would get an abortion if that happened, also I don’t leave the house because of my headache to begin with, home invasions are so rare, why are you focusing on an imaginary baby and not my treatment???

@@insideAdirtyMind respectfully, she was an adult. i don't care who you are, you first thought after having a baby should not be to stick it in a fucking trash bag. that's vile and sick. if she had just given the babies to the doctors, or a nurse, or someone, all of it could have been avoided. instead she stuck her baby in a trash bag.
lets take a moment to acknowledge the fact that her issues with her mom are issues. not necessarily the cause. the only person you can control is yourself.
now on a totally different note, she stuck her child in a trash can, and referred to the baby multiple times as 'it'. her way of brushing it off and making it seem like the situation isn't as bad as it is, (which is a manipulation tactic) and trying to drive the point home 'it wasn't crying or breathing'. ok as it stands that may be true, but you still put him in a fucking trash can. just like those nurses said, she knew perfectly well what she was doing was wrong. the fact that her mother was also referring to the baby as 'it' but also scolding her daughter was weird to me too. i do think however that it was weird how she was scolding her daughter for not telling her that she was pregnant, but not scolding her for putting him in a trash can.
as it stands, (and scream at me all you want for this) trauma is not a valid excuse, or a excuse in general, to put your child in a trashcan. period. i know plenty of people who are traumatized, and they would still have the sense to not put their babies in a trashcan. if she had come out of the bathroom, and handed it to someone, they would have still chalked it up to just a mis carriage.

As a mother, I could never imagine doing anything even close to this. My first pregnancy happened when I was 19, however it turned out to be ectopic, and any choice I had in what I would do was taken from me. The same with my second at age 24.
When my first son was born in 2015, he was incredibly sick, requiring surgery just days after birth. He was taken to a hospital away from me, after an emergency cesarean, weighing 2.1kg (4.11lb, for those in the US). We got to hold him in the OR, and once again when they knew the ambulance was almost there to take him to the children’s hospital, and it was another week before we were allowed to hold him again.
I suffered extreme postnatal depression and anxiety because of everything that happened in that first month, the trauma of his birth, and then all of the health issues that came up over the next few years. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I love my son in a way that I never knew that I could love, and all of that pain and stress was 1,000,000% worth it.
My youngest son is just six months old. I spent the last three months of pregnancy bedridden due to extreme inflammation of the spine (there was a literal hump of inflammation at the base of my spine, causing me to be unable to stand up straight, bear weight, or walk properly). I battled severe prenatal depression and anxiety during this time, and that became postnatal after his birth. It has been nowhere near as severe as with his big brother, as La-La was born healthy, where H-Man wasn’t, and I still feel the same.
Honestly, the most depressing part of it is that I can see how severely affected I was last time, and the kind of mothering my big boy missed out on getting from me at the time.
My second oldest sister had the most extreme PND I have ever seen - she refused to be a mother to her eldest son for the first 18 months of his life, leaving the rest of the family (mostly me, tbh) to raise him. She was 17 when he was born, and it was horrible seeing how devastating it was for her to try and gain that relationship BACK with him after she had found herself again.
It is entirely possible for PND to cause people to do irrational things far beyond what they would normally be capable of, and even more so with postnatal psychosis.
I don’t think this was that. Shock, sure. Controlling mother, sure. But it being enough to cause her to kill her own baby as soon as he was born??? I don’t know about that…

There has been an update that pertains to what you were talking about near the end: They released the baby's toxicology report and he had a tiny (insignificant) amount of morphine in his system. I'm sure the defense will try to twist it and say that's what killed him, since they're blaming the hospital for everything, but it was literally nanograms worth of morphine.
However, he also had nanograms of phentermine in his system, and the hospital did not give that to Alexee. So what that proves is that she actually was on diet pills, but not just any diet pills, prescription diet pills that are a controlled substance because they are in the amphetamine family, and are contraindicated in pregnant women.
That finding has caused SO many additional questions. Where did she get them? No ethical doctor would prescribe them to a woman without doing a pregnancy test first. (Although there are plenty of unethical doctors out there.) Was she buying them off of the street? And, as you said, was she taking those drugs to try to hide the weight that she was gaining from the pregnancy? Or did she know they were bad for pregnant women and hoped they would cause a miscarriage? There are plenty of weight loss drugs out there, she took the one that people often refer to as "legal meth." That's significant.
There are a lot of unanswered questions in this case, and I have a feeling that even more shocking information is going to come out.

I was given morphine while in labor bc I didn't want an epidural the 1st time. I was 20. They know what they are doing. The normal dosage given to the mom, even for back pain. Isn't enough to cause harm to the baby. Not to mention if you listened to the description the baby was breathing hense how the plastic was able to cause suffocation. Meaning born alive. She murdered him....instead of giving him a fair shot. We have safe haven laws...a hospital is one of the best approved locations to surrender your baby with no repacussions. It's a law that's not new and has been around to help people in the situations and to help cut down on horrific crimes like this! What this young woman did was vile.

    • @Kristine_202
      @Kristine_202 11 месяцев назад +53

@@GingerThereforeNoSoul Absolutely! It's not the best idea in the world to be give a pregnant woman morphine later on in the labor, it can technically affect the baby's breathing. But it's pretty common to give it in early labor. And the tests have been done: He had a tiny, insignificant amount in his system and he died because he suffocated in a trash bag.
I hate her lawyer. He was talking about how it's all the hospital's fault and morphine is contraindicated in pregnant women. I've worked in the medical field for over 20 years. That's just not true. And you don't need an MD to know that. (I don't have one.) I'm pretty sure you can find that out from a quick Google search.
Also, she was an adult and she went to the hospital for pain. It was her responsibility to tell them, "BTW I'm pregnant." I know they're claiming that she didn't know, but no one is buying that. MAYBE the mom didn't know. Alexee definitely knew.
I kind of hope they stream this trial because I can't wait to see the prosecution obliterate the defense's "expert" witnesses. I want to hear the doctor say that you can't give morphine to a pregnant woman. Really?! Because it's literally done every single day. 🤦‍♀

Then, he failed his first hearing test. Stressed me out....my grandmother was there...sneezed while the nurse held him, and he got so startled he woke up crying...and the nurse was like...I have a feeling he'll pass it later....which he thankfully did. Her lawyer is disgusting, but that's what they aren't meant to do, unfortunately. Hopefully, it's a jury trial....and they don't play that game. I hope there's a few mothers in that jury.

Postpartum can do a lot but with the hormones and everything I would have been more likely to not be able to look at my baby add an extreme case. I find it hard to believe that she did not do that baby is trash. I guarantee she knew it was breathing. I think she just put it in the trash can to erase what was going on because I don't know that this girl has ever been shown that she needs to take responsibility for her actions. Yes your hormones take a hit but that usually isn't something that's going to affect your behavior IMMEDIATELY. It's a creep as your body adjusts. The fact is Lexi seemingly hid her pregnancy, lied about being a virgin, & when given the chance to receive help multiple times during the delivery & after while cleaning up she hid it & then continued to lie until she had to tell the truth. That's not postpartum.

I do have to add. Being found not guilty due to insanity is not straightforward in court. That argument works in case of delusions, but if there is any possibility you could think, that argument is thrown out. Obviously the fault isn’t on the hospital for the murder they were all just doing their jobs. But I imagine it could have ended differently since the red flags were already there and they had discussed asking her to step out before. Personally I think if you have to guess and a parent is acting like that AND the patient isn’t being honest about being pregnant and won’t let doctors touch her that’s more than enough justification to ask the mom to step out even before the blood test came back since they already told them about the urine test. While alexees actions are her own, she was still a scared young woman who could have had more help before it tipped into irreversible territory. Her fear doesn’t justify murder but it’s just sad and I’m sure the staff probably has regret in hindsight.

I work for a clinic connected to a hospital. We have a portal patients can use, and parents actually lose access to everything except super basic stuff once they hit like 11 or 12, to help protect their privacy. Also when I was a kid, they asked my mom to leave on regular checkups while asking the "is there any chance you could be-" questions, even if I wanted her to stay, just to guarantee that I felt comfortable answering honestly. And that was the '90s. The staff definitely didn't do as much as they could to separate potentially abusive parent from child, but in the end, she made her decision, and has to pay the price.
