Two tips - 1: When sewing the centre lines for the pockets in the 1st project, start sewing at what will be the bottom of the pocket. This will prevent puckering and/or unintentional tucks. Felt is a textile that stretches and warps easily. 2: Use warm or hot water when dyeing fabrics. Cold water will not penetrate the textile fibres as well as hot water, and as a result, your dye will not absorb. The color will be darker and more vibrant if you use hot water.
I would also suggest using pinking sheers on all edges of the linen after sewing them together, it will give a more finished look and the edges will unravel less, if at all.
I was just talking to my friend about how handmade gifts are so much better than new stuff. Time is probably the most valuable things you can give to other people

I’m going to do the hot coco one with my toddler. I think she’ll have fun helping filling up the bags, stealing marshmallows, and handing them out to the neighbors
The hot chocolate diy is my favorite. I love thrifting so I am going to thrift some mugs and a cute little woven basket and maybe toss in a cozy blanket from Target.
Ya ikr. like once I was walking with my friends at midnight and they were saying the craziest thing: "ew get away from me you creep" and "Im calling the cops" Best night of my life.

When we were taught sewing in elementary school, I think we were taught that we could choose between taking them out and sewing with them... Idk, I just remember sewing with them in. I don't see why you would take them out, unless you know that that specific needle is going to be in the way...
All of you be super lucky. I have broken so many sewing machine needles when I hit those pins wrong😕 I too wanted to live on the edge..but paid the price 😉
My husband has a huge family, so we get all the adults the same thing, a homemade batch of Russian tea in a mason jar, with a hand crafted lable. Every loves it! They have come to expect it even. I do a bit of a twist on my Russian tea, vs what I've found online. The labels I make from diy marble paper, and attach with ribbon! Super cute💕
This is perfect timing for anyone in college to go home and get the gifts over thanksgiving in time to give them to friends back in college! Appreciate the sentiment
@@camilleelasky537 that won't stop fraying unless you use a synthetic fabric, which melts when heated. But a natural fabric, such as the linen used in the video, may be more breathable and comfortable against the skin
I work in the USA but I’m Hungarian and for Christmas I made all my coworkers bottles of Hungarian spice mix and they obsessed over it. I had like 4 left over and by spring time I had multiple people come up to me asking for another one. I did it by googling Hungarian spice mix recipes and then buying all the individual spice elements in Kroger and on amazon and then I got really pretty glass spice bottles from amazon. I even made my custom labels using very affordable Avery labels and then used dollars store bags and ribbons to beautify them. Total was less than $40 for like 12 colleagues and I can’t even begin to tell you how much everyone loved it and thought it was so special. I’ve literally gotten pictures from everyone all year showing what different meals they’ve made with it.
That last kit is freaking goals! I think I'll do a variation of that for my gift exchange this Christmas, a cute mug, some nice quality cocoa and chocolate shavings from my local chocolatier, in reusable containers, and handmade wood coasters!
Great ideas and not impossible to create! I had a yoga instructor who had the lavender and rice eye masks that she would warm up and put in an insulated bag. They were so amazing after a relaxing work out. I'd go home and get the best night sleep. Thanks for stirring up the memory. I've also been a big Vista Print fan for years, too! Thank you for sharing!
"yes I sew over my pins, I live on the edge" 😂😂😂yesss!! my grandma is rolling over in her grave. I did this all the time and she always threw a fit 😂😂🤣
Great ideas! one your felt pockets-your sewing lines show on both sides, so it does matter. I would use a disappearing marker if worried about line showing. For rice bags-i include a note with directions when giving as gifts. 'microwave 1 minute, shake to prevent hot spots, repeat microwave 30 seconds, shake etc until desired temperature. Side note-rice bags will get your luggage checked by TSA!
You might be surprised! Most of these crafts are won through persistence, not talent. His talent is his vision, innovation, and delivery. He has kindly gifted us his visionary plans, if you like one...try it! Do you!
if you're going to do the lavender masks, i would recommend turning the raw edges to the inside of the sack before filling up! If you leave the raw edges on the outside they'll unravel a lot faster and the bag will be more likely to fall apart!
RUclips suggested I watch this. 100% enjoyed! I am making several homemade gifts this Christmas. I have crocheted some bath poufs, I am knitting some headbands, and I have tried cold process soap making... 😱... It's actually not that hard if you follow a tutorial/recipe. Thank you for more nice ideas.
Another amazing video! I just ordered some floor pillows like the you purchased in the Fall for my two daughters-in-law. I also love the hanging organizer. I have a ton of fabric in my stash, so I am going to make these using fabric and heavy duty interfacing for the board and pockets. For my grandchildren, I am making "library" tote bags for them to take to the library and store their books in. I ordered some Batman/Spiderman/Princess printed iron on patches with their names on them from Etsy for the fronts. I just love your channel!
I remember seeing videos you used to do with a friend years ago! I love that you're still doing this and coming up with fun (non-fluff) ideas for gifts and decor. ❤️
Your new logo is beautiful! I know you said we all have a love hate relationship with crinkle paper, and I totally agree! Something I do to try to help with it is either line the box with some pretty printed tissue paper from Home Goods. Or I use a small, cloth drawstring bag. I think I've seen you use/make these in other projects. It adds another texture to the gift and contains the little pieces in a cute way. If the bag is a little larger than the box I'm using, I just fold it over the outside a little to create a border of sorts.
I am making gifts for my husband's family. I'm making stuffed wooden chairs for AG dolls for 2 little girls and Christmas decor or cookies for the adults. I also am making individual cards for everyone. I call them my snowflakes, cause no two are alike!
These are actually really good gift ideas. A lot of times these types of videos are full of a bunch of junk no one actually wants but you’re so creative and I loved all of these!
I suggest mixing the Lavender and rice first so it is evenly distributed throughout the eye mask. I am not making gifts this year but in previous years I made Hot Coco Spoons. Use a good quality plastic spoon, melt milk or dark chocolate bars and dip. I added crushed mini candy canes while chocolate was still melty. Just heat up some milk and stir with spoon 😉🥰
It wouldn't be Christmas without a last minute sewing project for me. Yes, I'm one of those embarrassing moms who makes clothes (usually flannel pajamas) for Christmas. Love these ideas as they takes less time than pj's! I think I need one of your felt organizer board for my sewing studio.
I had a thought to do a similar gift as the hot chocolate kit but with Masala Chai. You can blend up your own Chai mix really easily or get it at a bulk tea store in a cute tin, you could include tea strainers and your favourite sweetener like raw brown sugar or honey! Packaging in a crate is a great idea, I’m always looking for reusable/zero waste wrapping methods!
Another good way to hold these things for braiding is by attaching a bulldog/binder clip and nailing it to a board. Another option is a command hook on a board. that way you have a reusable set up and not have to tape it, or have adhesive on the braid itself.
9:24 I do love macrame. I haven’t actually made anything that way since I was around 13. (Made a choker and a belt). Of course that was before your time, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Lol😁
Suggestion for the hot chocolate cones! My mom and I make these for Christmas gifts and we always use plastic spoons dipped in chocolate and decorated with sprinkles, crushed candies (peppermint or mint chocolate are our favorites), or just more chocolate striped over the spoon. They're so cute and fun to stir into your hot chocolate to give it a richer taste :)
This is great and brilliant! Every time I try to find some nice Christmas diys it’s all these Instagram girls making the same bath bombs and stolen ideas off Pinterest.

I've enjoyed this video so much, and custom mugs are one of my favourite gifts to make. This year I'm forgoing individual gifts and making condiment baskets for the families of my dad's siblings: 3 jars of tropical fruit jams, spiced peanut butter, a Nutella-inspired vegan spread, and sundried tomato pesto. Will be upcycling Christmas cards out of old wedding invitations.
Drew! I'm so impressed! I've only been subscribed for a few months but I've watched the quality of the videos and editing just sky rocketing! You can tell you put your everything into your videos!
I love the video! Just some suggestions: at some points, you say "remember this knot" (or something along those lines) however I am new to your channel so maybe you could include links to videos that demonstrate them, etc?
just a quick tip for the first project, depending on the kind of glue you use, it can seep through the felt so fold a piece of wax paper and stick it in the pocket so the two sides don’t get stuck together
To add an extra diy to your diy make the coco from scratch and make the marsh mellows from scratch too use a cookie cutter and make fall flowers and dust in fall colored sugar or christmassy colors, it can be versatile for an anytime gift ! I loved that one so much lol.
I love your diy videos so much, they are all so cute and aesthetic, can’t wait for Christmas! I have a very small youtube channel and I would love any support!

Really? My Dr literally never told me that & I have epilepsy & migrations. Also november is epilepsy awareness month for anyone whobdidnt know or who is interested in knowing.
I've studied essential oils and blending. Also, what it's good for which kinds gor what and which can be dangerous to certain comditions. Lavender and lavender oil is qidely known to be a danger to people with saizure disorders. It can and does induce seizures. The Epilepsy issues are something that I ran across wvwn before training because of a nephew who suffwrs feom severe tonic Clonic gean mal seizures. I stayed with me often growing up. Sometimes montjs at a rime. I was very much in volved in his medical care and seeing his doctors. If you are anyone in your home has seizures or has had even one then you should not use any lavendeenhased products in or around you home , car, or person. Anywhere or anything this person may be around. Also, remember not all doctors are aware of herbal and homeopathic treatments. Most only know what a typical lay person knows. They may google herbs to help relieve stress and hep to sleep andnthey see lavender and that's as far as they go. They don't check other things tjat it can invilve. I dodnt3trust modwrn docfors because most don't know more than what we know. They basically input info into a database andnit spits out a diagnosis for them. We canndo tje same thing. Only problem is we can't write prescriptions and they can. We.are getting around that now though by learning the old ways. Using traditional medicines that worked. We learn everyrhing there is known about what we use. Doctors mostly only what they have to do to get and keep their license.
kim mcdonald thanks for the warning but theres no need to bring down doctors! They work really hard, and I mean REALLY hard to get where they need to be. They are acknowledged in medicine in their own rights, and most doctors don't just "do what ever they do to keep their license". I'm not sure what hospital or doctors you are going to, but good doctors care for your well being.
This applies specifically to Spike Lavender. Pure Lavender essential oils of other varieties have been shown to be beneficial to many people with seizure disorders. Please read labels carefully.
Since I'm actually in the process of buying a house right now, I'm DIYing all gifts this year. I already made some glitter ornaments and then I'm going to personalize them with my Cricut. And then I'm going to be etching some cups with designs that the person would like so that all the gifts are unique for each person and yet I'm doing the same thing to help save a little money :) I also might throw in a treat or something with the glass and ornament.

Yes the hot water opens it up, to accept the color better!! Excellent tips! Thanks
Netty Aquamarine Also recommend using soda ash to help the dye not wash out.
I would also suggest using pinking sheers on all edges of the linen after sewing them together, it will give a more finished look and the edges will unravel less, if at all.

a suggestion for the hot chocolate kits:
you could add eyes and a red nose to make them look like Rudolph

I like the lavender bags, but I think hemming the pieces of fabric before constructing it is a nicer finish for a gift 🙂
You could also cut them a little bigger, sew right sides together and just flip it over instead of having to hem!
Or instead of hemming, you could sear the sides with a lighter (while being careful of course)

Aw thank you so much!!
I love the video! Just some suggestions: at some points, you say "remember this knot" (or something along those lines) however I am new to your channel so maybe you could include links to videos that demonstrate them, etc?
Olivia Butler Maybe he has timestamps for each knot?
My favorite was the customized mugs and the way you set it up! Wow 🤩
You have such a beautiful mind, Drew! 💕💕💕
just a quick tip for the first project, depending on the kind of glue you use, it can seep through the felt so fold a piece of wax paper and stick it in the pocket so the two sides don’t get stuck together
I'll be DIYing some personalized key holders & wall art 😁
To add an extra diy to your diy make the coco from scratch and make the marsh mellows from scratch too use a cookie cutter and make fall flowers and dust in fall colored sugar or christmassy colors, it can be versatile for an anytime gift ! I loved that one so much lol.
I love your diy videos so much, they are all so cute and aesthetic, can’t wait for Christmas!

Epilepsy Warnong: Lavender and Lavender essential oil is a dangerous catalyst for seizures for people with Epilepsy or other seizure prone illnesses.
oh no :( how come?
Doctors mostly only what they have to do to get and keep their license.

thanks for the warning but theres no need to bring down doctors!
I LOVE how simple AND usable these gifts are!! Seriously! Thank you! 😃
Why didn’t I know about this guy before?
Since I'm actually in the process of buying a house right now, I'm DIYing all gifts this year. I already made some glitter ornaments and then I'm going to personalize them with my Cricut. And then I'm going to be etching some cups with designs that the person would like so that all the gifts are unique for each person and yet I'm doing the same thing to help save a little money :) I also might throw in a treat or something with the glass and ornament.
