A tip. Always screte it downwards. No need for unnessessary effort pushing up the weight. Also always start throwing the material on the top part first. It will go down by itself so always fill the bottom last. Let gravity work for you, don't work against it. Saves you a lot of time, energy and frustration.
Nah I would screed up , easier to fill in low spots without pushing excess and more to the bottom and putting it all back up top again and more screeding. Idk I’m no expert though either. I’d think too though definitely start throwing your Crete up top as he done for the most part.
Zack you got that skaters heart brother! We built sooo many mini-halfs, vert, spines and bowls out in the woods all over NJ & NY through the 80s and 90s. If I knew you & was out there I'd be right next to you building with love of it all bro!
you should get yourself some 'carpet roll tubes' (carpet business dumpster)... those cardboard rolls would be better to use than the pvc as the water pass-through, as you could leave them in place then. go to your local hardware shops and check the outside bins too, should be plenty of offcut lumber/wood. you'd be surprised what gets thrown out in to dumpsters. even pipes/coping/etc too.
Got recommended this by RUclips the other day and just spent the last few days binging the series. Loving the content, can’t wait to remake the park in skate 3
Getting to watch the tags increase and add a lot of color throughout the video was really neat. I hope that folks stop leaving trash in that spot, it'd be such a great hideaway if the community really keeps it nice and vibrant! I need to be on the lookout for spots in my area
This spot looks sick. I think a bench could be a great addition if u wanted to go that route. Also for trash. Have a way to fasten the lid to the bin so it doesnt get lost or whatever. Keep it up. Love this series and i dont even skate.
This dude is a f**kin stud. I’m not sure if this is illegal, but if it is, he is risking his own freedom so people can have fun and enjoy their lives. I don’t even think cops would be mad bro is such a wholesome good person🙏
this is so sick man. Im building my second quarter pipe entirely out of scrap wood right now and theres something so exciting about building your own obstacles to skate. Hell yeah im subbing to see how this progresses
Mixing it on a tarp is probably the easiest way. Put the mix and water in the middle of the tarp and grab the corners/sides of the tarp and start pulling the tarp up and down. Way easier with two ppl.
Use thin rebar mesh, you will be able to form exactly how you want and will last much longer. Can find shit scrapped here and there, even a fence or any sort of wire mesh would help.
Brothaahhh.. Just want to thank you for dedicating your time and energy. Most definitely leaving a like & sub for you. As for the trash and cans. Im a graph artist, tagger etc whatever you wana call it and most of the ppl I roll with are very respectful at spots and especially to skate spots where we see work is done. Most of us skate aswell but Unfortunately I can’t speak for all of us. Just know we see your work and do what we can to keep the spot alive. There’s always guna be lil groms that just don’t know better. Just wana say thanks again and keep up the love. I’ll be watchin 🙏🏽🤙🏽🙏🏽🤙🏽🙏🏽🤙🏽🙏🏽
Cement the bottom of the can. Then it can be moved with the heavy equipment the city would have but would be incredibly difficult for any one else still
That mask is insufficient for the way you are mixing concrete. Most of the graffiti there is from kids learning how to do it, which is good they are practicing there and not getting chased by security or cops. tags are just the scribbles and one line signatures/name. (Usually at the bottom of a piece so you know which crew/artist did the work) If it has a lot of colour and dimensions, and thick lettering with detailed outlines, shading and highlights, it is a ‘piece’. if it is quickly painted with one coat of one colour like white or chrome or red, with a very quick outline in another colour (usually black), that most of the time is bubble lettering, is called a ‘throw up’ This new wall ride is so much of an improvement to the one next to it! 👍🏻 nice bro!
@@oliewray8357 no, I don’t really care what you wear, or what anyone else wears really… but if you don’t want to be sick later on down the track, just wear a 3M N95 mask. Which will stop any risk of the development of silicosis or scarring of the lungs from breathing in massive clouds of concrete dust.
@oliewray8357 I think it's a nice way to incorporate the community aspect of the space. Like. Having it be visible from one side. I think it would be a fun way to represent all aspects of creativity going on there. Plus it might look better than just a pure concrete wall.
Bro just cannot stop yapping “the reason this is problematic “ what essay you writing ? How many times are you going to repeat yourself? Can you not edit this? Shorten your monologue and complaining with crappy hotel jazz music.
Hitting the like button under the video helps me build more spots! ❤🙏
👍
Always dropping likes on your videos Dowdy 💯
You should wet down the rocks and dirt to make sure you get great adhesion from concrete to dirt and rock
This has a bob ross feel to it... "we're just gonna make some happy ramps."
Agreed :D
It would be a dream to stumble upon a spot like this in a ditch! Good work Zack, I really enjoy every DIY build you do
Yaaaasss DIY Dowdy is back !! ❤💥💥
Love this series! Keep killin it! The spot is looking good! Maybe it’s time to add a small box somewhere? Just an idea.
or a slappppy currb ???
Possibly a bank to ledge next!
make it big, not small
Good on you Zack! Love watching the D.I.Y. come together! Keep shredding
the paint in there is so sick, really adds to the vibe of why this is such a sick park
build a platform for the trash can to be clamped to so it won't float away when it rains 🙏 good job bro!
Manny pad with a built in trashcan would be sick
@@Wyfiman hell yeah! 🙌💪
Drainage for the trash can. Might need a hole or 2
Great idea

How can you start from the top hahaha do you have special needs
Great work. Great message about DIYs. Inspiring me to get out there and create spots.
Yes!! My favorite current series on RUclips! The Dowdy DIY project is so satisfying to watch while I’m at work

Not the 1st time there has been a
"crack fix" at the D.I.Y. Ditch ! 😆
Got recommended this by RUclips the other day and just spent the last few days binging the series. Loving the content, can’t wait to remake the park in skate 3
Thank you for your hard work and content. Rad skate spot

This video series makes me so happy, I love how it’s looking with all the colorful tags too!
Thanks for showing us your process!
Keeping San Diego great one DIY at a time!

Please continue! Let’s get a flat rail concreted in
love this series so much man. Glad you got a good blower now. I take one to all DIY/drain spots
looks so fun Zack, great job. Love these videos. Keep em coming, even if you have to film a few and then release them to protect the spot.
Bra I love this series!
I love watching your skatepark build vids
I really enjoy your DIY videos 👍👍👍 keep it up 👍

Really enjoying the building in this series. I'm glad you filmed yourself doing the transition you created that was important to me lol

Yes!
Love your videos dude. You're doing great things for skateboarding.
Awesome work!
I love watching your DIY videos and the sesh on the new ramps where really good and cool 2 see
You should use those spay cans like rebar it should help with the cracking with a little metal in as filler not just rocks and dirt
Stop giving advice when you have no idea what your talking about
Love the DIY stuff!
Very cool 😎 nice job 💪
Cool as always man. Having a blower is way better than using a broom. Can even use it to dry up spots
this is so sick man. Im building my second quarter pipe entirely out of scrap wood right now and theres something so exciting about building your own obstacles to skate. Hell yeah im subbing to see how this progresses
sucks that people don't respect the spot busters
Another Great Video ! 🤘😎🤘❗
Bro im so proud of you!! If only i lived in Cali 😁
Build a mini halfpipe in there !?! Use the reg ground in the middle as the flatbottom of ramp lol..would be fun..quarter pipe on each side..
LETS GOOOOOO MORE DIY VIDEOS 🔥🔥
the long videos are awesome man!
These are my favourite videos of yours to watch 👍🙏🔥
Thank you!
Same! 💯
Sick ass foo

Thanks for these great diy videos!
I appreciate the support means a lot to me!

build a coping with spraycans! 😮
A grinding tube in the middle would be useful

6:27 spot the lizard.
Add a little baking soda to your concrete when your mixing work fast
It will set up quicker
Love it !
Cement the bottom of the can. Then it can be moved with the heavy equipment the city would have but would be incredibly difficult for any one else still
Let’s get this man to 100k subs peeps!
Heading out to LA area next week…. Where is this at? Would love to ride it!
Good stuff
cool dude, are you gonna add rails?
You have to use those 20 v batteries on the craftsman blowers even though they don’t include them lol.
Nice!
that was cool
That pipe behind the ramp hahaha why you saw it was pointless on the first ramp the fill just collapses as soon as you take it out
Damn come one of the golden rules of graffiti is don't leave your trash at the spot. Pack it in pack it out
nice
Oh yes
Have u ever skated trenches in cali

Msg me Zac if you ever need formwork ideas.
Good energy dude.
Is this in cali, hook me up with the spot please
where to get one of those block head caps from ?
I got that from Dave, the owner.
Sick
Your so. Put wall rides in your room in start hearing skating noises on the wall?
You said Aluminium wrong.
It would be sick to "fossilize" the spray cans and stuff inside the concrete as a little homage to the work people do down there.
What do mean just put a can behind concrete? Why would that be cool

Respect to this man!
sweeeeeeeet
😎😎😎
This comment is to boost the algorithm! 🤘
Who cares.
Where is this spot? I live in Los Angeles. Kinda looks like Cali. Would love to skate it and help!
I really like these diy videos. 🛹💜
Bro just cannot stop yapping “the reason this is problematic “ what essay you writing ? How many times are you going to repeat yourself? Can you not edit this? Shorten your monologue and complaining with crappy hotel jazz music.
Go back to your ticktocks kid
❤ this series. Thank you
