I would love to know how Gentaro would react to a human if there weren't bars between them but, man, that would be a really risky experiment. And even if Gentaro accepted one person without incident it wouldn't be any assurance that he wouldn't respond negatively to someone else. He looks like such a big sweetie when he's calm but when he gets riled up it shows that he can also be very unpredictable. I wouldn't want to have him toss me the way he tosses that tire swing around, lol.

A (long) time ago there was a fixed order to come outside the interior enclosure : first Momotaro, than Genki with Kintaro and finally Gentaro if I remembered it very well...
So at 1:50 -- did Gentaro bring those blankets up on that platform, or did Kintaro? Kintaro is usually the one who hauls up blankets so it would be great to see that Gentaro does it too. Maybe the zookeepers put them up there to help inspire Gentaro into nest building(?). Whenever Kintaro takes blankets up on the platforms I always wonder if he's feeling a little bit of the instinct that makes wild gorillas build nests. I frequently wish the gorillas could tell us what they are thinking.
The look on his face n just his face in general when he went up to lay down n looked towards the camera was the first time that he actually looked like an adult gorilla with the small crest on his head starting to show n not so much as a younger gorilla with his baby face! But did he just eat a little bit or his normal amount faster than usual bc he looks like he might be feeling a little down. Or maybe he’s getting his natural urge to go off on his own a bit more than normal , n kinda anxious n a little uncomfortable
Yeah if he’s staying out by himself more then I think he’s really getting his urge to go off on his own bc he’s separating himself now when he has the opportunity when the inside n outside are open
