People who complain about him repeating it don't understand his craft. This man is putting on a performance with the drinks he is educating you about. This dude is a master and has this thing timed to perfection lol. Also he treats his whiskey like master painters. He isn't frugal nor penny pinching about it. When you have the balls to throw away whiskey like he does, you are a man with confidence and who isn't afraid to risk things. No wildly successful person in ANYTHING was a penny pincher.
@@jsm530 How is my subjective experience "not true" for you? I recognize that there is a spectrum of people in the "rich" category. That's just been my experience.
He's penny pinching when it comes to bottling his whiskies. Most Dalmores are bottled at a measly 40% ABV. Should be at least 46% considering how much they charge for it.
This man is actually from Arrakis, throwing the liquid on the floor was a sign of respect. In fact look at how this professional catches the glass at 4:54 to ensure not a drop is spilled
I was at a tasting (really, an education) with Richard Paterson, and he really is an amusing guy. Unfortunately, with only a 6 minute clip, he's rushed so he can't go over the history and differences between whisky and scotch, or the various regions, or many other things that we did in an hour and a half. Oh yeah, and a lot of tasting.
There's an hour long video of him at one of his tastings on youtube. Unfortunately the uploader didn't label it correctly, but look up "WoW2011_RichardPatterson.mp4" on youtube and it should come up.
I am so jealous. Price is not the determinant for the complexity of a $50,000/50-year old whisky, but the fact that it served by Richard Patterson is. Just wow and, "I'd like to have some of what she's having."
"Let me abuse you here.. " I thought I misheard him, but then after few seconds he said again, " Let me just abuse you here...", , this man is always quite blunt in his profession 😉 😉 🤣🤣
Love this guy! Just made me a whisky enthusiast. Plus , what a gentleman complementing after that nose remark. Well done sir....but THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE HIGHLANDER!
I agree, I also use water but i do however use a DROP of wiskey after the water and swirl it around and chuck it, before starting the real tasting. Imo it does make a huge difference.
Same thing happened to me, the first time I drank whisky I was 18, back then I was a white spirit drinker. It was a 15-year-old single malt, the smoke nearly made me choke. Now I'm a whiskey/whisky drinker.
This is awesome and hilarious! I watch Sophie Lui every morning when I come in from night shift at a logging camp I work at in BC. Great video clip, she's a great gal, and to top it all off she is cute as a button! You rock, Sophie!
"something very special for you" (takes out unlabelled vial of liquid) "hold it in the mouth, keep it there, keep it there, keep it there" I'm honestly scared for Sophie.
I would love to be at one of his demostrations. I know he does the same exact talk and gimmicks everytime (I've seen many videos), but learning from him in an extended lecture would be awesome.
Sadly not, as its all about how long it has been aged in the wood cask without opening. Longer time spent in the wooden casket means the flavour is higher, and consequently the price.
no, you could put the whiskey back in a barrel but scotch has to be aged in scotland. and you can overage whiskey, the reason scotland can do 50 year old whiskey is because of their climate and also because the volume of the barrels. a small barrel ages faster then a big one as more of the liquid contact wood.
i disagree that just because a single malt is one whiskey from one still that it has "one personality" but he is a blend master and he is robert paterson so he must be right.
He's not throwing away whiskey, he's blessing, purifying the horrendous environment
I bet that day was the best for all workers of that studio and offices. Imagine working in the office, that suddenly smells like expensive scotch. :)
We also do this in India🇮🇳...
We call it "chadhawa"..
He's probably having a laugh at all the people who think he's being serious and throwing away their expensive single malt on the floor.

Every rich person I ever met was extremely frugal. Nonsense
Nobody said rich - a SUCCESSFUL person can be independent to material wealth .. his knowledge is wealth !
@@dawgpost90 not true some aren't hence they have huge opulent homes and too many cars to count.

Apart from him.... she knows she can't afford it.
Unless she marries,Rupert Murdoch!😂

"really ruined your studio here but never mind"
what a gentleman
Jarsia upgraded the studio. 🥃
This man really takes his whisky very .. very seriously.
Very creative comment.
Max Mustermann Very creative input.
At $50,000 a bottle I would do the same
*whisky
Brian Campbell
Both are correct.
www.thekitchn.com/whiskey-vs-whisky-whats-the-di-100476
It would have been funny if he first threw the $50,000 scotch on the ground.
Can someone who has time calculate how much money he spilled by "cleaning" the glass?
The 12 year old Single Malt Dalmore which he started her with is $65 a bottle. So couple of bucks
это часть представления. он актер
YES.
lmfao she should have tossed the whisky from the vile coz you needa clean the glass right hahahaa
+Calvin Wong loooooooooooooool :P
ROFLMFAO bahahahahaAHAHAHAhahahahahhaa
*vial
Calvin Wong he would need balls in size of ostrich egg to do that with this whiskey ;-)
i bet he'd have cried like a baby
I bet his whole house smells like scotch.
I soaked my jacket with a glass of Jack during a heavy drink session. There was literally no smell the next morning.
@@blueslime1980 Lol, there is worse. What do you recommend? Nowadays I drink Jim Beam over ice or gin tonics :D
He says the same shit in every video

XTrevvion IKR, gets fucking annoying and pretentious!
I met him before. He does that IRL. really nice guy. He even gave me a book
well duh? What else is he supposed to say?
Yeah, but in this video he didn't do the coffee and chocolate story.
"I dont have much of a bridge of a nose here" hahahahahaha
This guy + a claymore + super-scotch = the best superhero ever.
The guys behind the scenes are probably licking the ground and the cameras, everywhere the liquid fell after throwing it away.
This dude is fucking awesome!
You can't help but to smile while watching this man! He's so fun and entertaining! :)

If he threw the 50,000$ scotch on the floor.... I'd cry!
How can I book this man to entertain at my birthday party?

Ron Swanson approves.

Richard Paterson is a legend.
He kinda reminds me of Scotty from Star Trek :D
Using water instead of whiskey to clean the glass will reduce the whiskey consumption. Also one can utilize Red Label to wash glasses.

That guy is the coolest dude ever !!
And they never asked another Scott back onto the show ever again.
What happens behind scenes after this one
Does that mean I can buy a bottle of scotch and keep it for 50 years? boom 50g. lol
