That's crazy talk and you damn well know it There is a special place reserved for those who waste good scotch and you'd have no problem lighting your cigars there
It's funny because my family always taught me to pour a little whiskey strait from the bottle "for the spirits". Its kind of our way of honouring our deceased loved ones.. and when it drys we say they must've drank it. I know it's not the same thing but what you do slightly reminds me of that
Richard is an Icon! He is part of the reason I am so enthousiastic about whisky! And Scotland! I'm really looking forward to the next video(s) of his trips through Scotland since I'm visiting early next month! So keep them coming, both the whiskies and the videos!
As a bourbon drinker, Sir Richard has introduced me to Scotch whisky. I have just started my journey through Scotland, and have stopped in the island of Islay. Will be here for a while. Thank you Mr Paterson!
I've always loved beer. I had some cocktails before, some wine, some bourbon,... before. But I loved none of those drinks. Until very recently I was recommended to try a drink without knowing what it was before hand. The moment I had it in my mouth, I tried my best to hold it in my mouth to make sure all of my taste buds already made contact with the drink. But because I'm not used to strong alcohol, I had to swallow it earlier than I intended. And it was burning in my mouth and in my throat... But came with the burn was the smell, i.e the smokey aroma. It felt like I'd just swallowed a burning forest into my stomach. Everytime I inhale through my nostril, I can smell the smokiness with a little bit of sweetness. And it was one of the most wonderful experience I had in a long time. That drink that I had, was the 12 years old Glenfiddich.
The best whisky in the world you ask ...... easy....... Its the one you like. ( the very question i asked my father-in-law, a Scotsman & great man). That was his response.
mr. richard do share us with his great idea, please do respect and appreciate the effort and hard works during the making of whisky, it is not a easy to enjoy the drinks of whisky. no matter which aged of whisky, no matter blended whisky or single malt whisky, every whisky that bottling is a fabulous of pieces good art.
Beautiful early morning Sunlight , A soothing Moon light , The fresh air and marvellous land scapes , the beauty of mountain and hills , the delicious strawberries and organs juices and apples crunchiness , the smoky Barbecue pineapple and salads ..... I am lucky I could find free of cost .. Cheers ..
Absolutely love this video. Thank you. I am so curious why a Charles Smith (Washington USA) wine is so prominent in the background. Odd, here in Colorado, I love that wine for both the flavor and price tag (about $12-15), but it seems out of place in this video. You have me perplexed!
I recently got out of "this is not getting me hammered quickly enough"-phase and some friends bought me a Hibiki. Then i got a taste for Laphroaig 10 and now i really want to get into whisky
Thanks for the video one thing is is whiskey is appreciation because it take at least 2 years to get to you so sometimes if you are, connoisseur you have to appreciate it like art like a beautiful painting you notice something new every time It's A Love Affair what time that's why if a whiskey is good it's probably matured into a fine upstanding whiskey she'll carry on my good good sir and definitely a glass and savor every last drop
I've just received a bottle of Whyte and Mackay 50 year old whisky,I love my whisky but knowing how much this bottle is worth and being a new OAP I know how many bottles of whisky this bottle could buy should I sell it and miss the once in a lifetime chance to enjoy a great classic ? Would love to have your advice
I’m new to whisky. I tried/tasted Monkey Shoulder. I tried you theory drinking whisky for the beginners. No matter how small the sip and no matter how long it sits in my mouth it burns my mouth. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I take very small sips. Please advise. Fun channel. Thanks
Richard Paterson is a great ambassador for whisky, but this is what he is...a seller sharing commercial wee stories. A far more junkie and annoraky perspective of a whisky lover you might want to get is from a guy called Ralfy. Just sharing:)
Sorry Mr. You may know some about whisky but If you really love whiskey, you never throw the first glass on the floor. There are other ways to clean the glass leaving it perfect and without impurities for the first cup.
They said he stuffed cottons soaked with whiskey wherever he go to any public toilets. Some said his blood donations is rejected due to the blood is 60% alcohol content
Christ, does this man ever offer any new or original insights into whisky? There are 50 Rich Paterson videos on RUclips but there might as well be just 1.
Got to be some of the worst advice ever. Why would you waste whisky using it to clean the glass and then stain your carpet? Just use clean fresh water to clean the glass and make sure it is dried with a clean cloth.
Water has flavour. Clothes have fragrance ( unless you dont wash your cloths..) sure dont throw it on your carpet, decant to another glass.. his method is a tasting method not a pleb method.
@@sterlingidea2018 only a pleb would think that the strong flavours of a whisky could be negatively affected by being served in a glass cleaned with clean water and then dried with a clean cloth. Fair enough if detergents were used but plain water? Nope. Your senses of smell and taste aren't that sensitive. This isn't an actual method it's a Richard Patterson showing off method. Richard Paterson is a clown creating this fantasy/myth of cleaning a glass of whiskey. You have to clean it first with water and neutral soap. then change the glass to taste another whiskey again because of the fuzel oil from the previous drink. This Richard Paterson is ridiculous
Is he TRYING to make whisky tasters look like snobs? :( He didn't even really answer the questions, the "why" is still open :( Edit: Hmm, well ok I take it back somehow, it improves towards the end, at least he doesnt' just beat down on blends
This guy always makes me want to buy an Aston Martin and a new suit.

Aaaand you realise you can only afford to lease lil banana pinto :p
Aye aye
richard: gotta give the whiskey respect

Jared Jordan yeah man, he respect the floor
As he says he has the most expensive carpet in the world because of this very reason lol
Exactly; the man is a twat
I often dump out the first glass of$2000 pappy Van Winkle. Got to have that clean glass
Shad Palatino always clean your glass with Yamazaki 18 lol
I see you learned well from the Whiskey Master. He make us poor folk jealous.
I would keep a fifth of Early Times under the counter for glass cleaning.

Fantastic video. Not that I ever need motivated to drink whisky but this gentleman certainly makes you want to sit down and enjoy a dram
This is the most interesting man in the world.

Nice bottle of Mount Gay Rum there right behind him among several other rums. So this might be just a regular stocked bar then.
This guy loves what he does for a living. 😃
Superb information 👍👍👍👌👌👌👌

Im getting interesting in whisky
No wonder there's so much trouble in British pubs if that's how whiskey drinkers taste a new brand haha
I'd love to see Alan Partridge do this!
He should be a fuckin` national legend !

Aye, he's only been in the industry for 50 years so I guess he wouldn't know.
Pablo Massera he just does that for fun and for the viewers I think hehe
Imagine he was the bartender and James Bond happened by......
I’m Muslim but I still watch this dude lol
Paterson is respect. He drinks and teaches whiskeys drinking like foreplaying to a woman.
Is english your first language?
@@SiliconBong Ich hoffe, es ist nichts Schlimmes, wenn Englisch nicht meine Muttersprache ist.

Great way to start a video, toss Dalmore 15 to the carpet
0:50
1:03 :D
What exactly is he saying at the end . I’ve heard it a lot but never really seen how it’s spelled. I know it means great health great wealth.
It's a drinking toast and he is saying "slàinte mhath!" which is Scottish Gaelic and literally means good health.
the true whisky pope

i want your carpet
The best Whiskey for the money is Midleton Very Rare.
By far...
Hello

You are making me thirsty!
Why do you clean your glass using whisky? Its a waste of good alcohol. Cant you use water instead?
Imagine this bloke in one of the rough British boozers haha
Why the hell am i watching this? I never drank Whisky or Scotch or whatever in my entire life.
whole bottles worth of whiskey probably coat this man's floor from all the whiskey he tosses to clean the glass.
Imagine this video but out of context
I reduce it with coca cola
That's a Lemmy.
THanks man, im drunk and this is just what I want to see, alcohol content.
He really loves to toss the word "reverd" more than he loves tossing whisky doesn't he?
In that manner I never become alcolistic 😅
Eugenio Maria Falcone 😂😂
This man has a resemblance to Hitler 😁
just plz throw them in my mouth
His carpet must be filthy
How many times can you explain the same thing the same way?🙄🙄🙄
This guy can get wasted at work and they will pay him for that.
The person who cleans the floor must hate his guts.
He licks the floor. So I would call it a win-win situation.
